its 10yr/newer. you can still go as old as 1999. i am not a clearing agent but can recommend u to someone a very reputable seller on this forum uses. I am guessing the car should fall around 250-300k max. its just my guess. |

Autos / Re: How Much To Clear A Car In Lagos? by promise72(m): 6:28pm On May 04, 2009 |
depends on the car. can range from 250k to almost 1mill depending on the year. If its a car or jeep etc What type of car you have in mind? |
Autos / Re: 1992-1993 Honda Accord ( Honda Halla ) For Sale by promise72(m): 12:36am On May 04, 2009 |
familierl: Fhemmmy: Rogbese: As a potential buyer, i will advise anyone to check out a car physically before deciding what the car is worth. Its pointless to say a car of a certain year only worth so much. I happened to be checking out Honda Allah yesterday and it will be a good deal for any clean and full options Allah to be less than 1 million Dont let me scare you. The same vehicles about 9months to 1year ago is about 650-800k depending on the features. Considering that $ xchange then for N120. Now its about N200. Thats well over 50% increase! With same breath, the range on Halla should be between 900k-1.2m (from 1year ago prices). Take away depreciation on the car etc. Getting a halla under 1 million is a bargain. IF IT A CLEAN AND GOOD RUNNING ONE! CHECK FOR YOURSELF! I know i am not saying what everyone wanna hear but the fact remains the fact. I am no fan of the seller at all. Not even by a stretch of imagination, but i have to call it like i see it. Shipping a Halla from US will be about $1200 (give or take). With about N200/$1. That's about N240,000. Clear for anywhere between N130k-N150K. That about N370K. Factor in the cost of buying the car, Sometimes minor repairs [its a '93 after all ] Other logistic Costs (moving to port from buying location, necessary shipping documents etc), then your profit I hope you get the story. The truth is that older/low end vehicles are not leaving enough room for profit especially with the current rate, however, they are fast sellers! Not everyone has N2m to put on a car. And i understand how hard it is to save even N100,000 talkless of car money. However, the reality is still there. Lets pray that the currency appreciates and all these wont matter. Hope u understand where i am coming from. Here i rest. |
Autos / Is It Possible To Avoid Cotonou Car Getting Seized By Customs? by promise72(m): 12:06am On May 04, 2009 |
With the rampant, indiscriminate and unpredictable ways that vehicles already in Nigeria can be stopped and siezed by customs (Kinda Scary ) I want to know if there's a way that vehicles from Cotonou (Lets say 1997/1998) can avoid not getting seized when its already on Nigeria soil? From my understanding, its not uncommon to have vehicles that are already in use (in Nigeria) for 3-5years to have customs require proof of Customs papers otherwise it get seized. Any way to avoid this or you just have to play ur luck? |

2.0L is a very small engine and should be very good with petrol. Reset the timing on the car. if everything else is good. |

Car Talk / Re: Help Pls: My Nissan Primera Car Consumes Fuel So Much by promise72(m): 7:56pm On Apr 27, 2009 |
you gave too little info. is it a caburator or fuel injector? To calcualte the amt of fuel consumption, pls do a little assignment. Next time u fill up the tank (make sure its almost empty). Record ur current miles on the car. Drive the car for about half way or 3/4 down the fuel tank. and refill. Take the difference between the new miles on the car and divide by the amt of litres u just put in the car. That will give u approximate amt of kilometers u get for a litre. It will be more accurate to judge how much more ur car is wasting. Meanwhile, since u just got the car, do a full service (new genuine NGK plugs, rotor, distributor cap) let a good mechanic adjust the timing, and change the air cleaner. DO NOT MANAGE ANYTHING!. You will end up spending more on petrol if ur car is running bad. Better make the engine run right and save urself. spend $$$$ on maintenance and service. its much cheaper. And year brand new oil and good filter too Good luck |

dkonxeptz: platinumnk: Theres absolutely nothing wrong with a V6 Engine. Yes it takes a little bit more petrol but its more power for you. Its comes in handy when u are in hilly road or when the car is loaded with people or goods. The petrol difference in a RAV4 for a 4 cylinder and a V6 is very little. Theres no V6 available for 2002/03 RAV4. The V6 doesnt come until '06 when the new body style began. Good luck. Live your life and get when your heart desires. |

Car Talk / Re: Ford Maintenance In Nigeria: How Easy? by promise72(m): 5:19pm On Apr 25, 2009 |
xparm: For my $$$, the question i will be asking is very simple" "Do i wanna be calling RT Briscoe everytime im in need of something" ? Or get a car that i can locally find the parts? The availability of parts and parts network is a bigger issue than whether you fear a car or not. EVERY CAR WILL NEED TO BE MAINTAINED /REPAIRED AT ONE POINT OR THE OTHER. NO MATTER WHAT MAKE. I can bring a car to Nigeria 2more called lets say: "Toyota Devil" and ppl wont even blink without buying it. However another car can be called "Jesus Christ" and ppl will probably hesitate. Its a matter of belief of parts availability, familiarity with repair issue etc. RT Briscoe might not be always near everytime u need anything fixed, however a Toyota/Honda/Nissan mechanic will almost definately be around. Dont get me wrong, i am not arguing whether Ford is a good car or not here, i am simply coming from the point of view of ease in fixing any problem that arises/regular scheduled maintenance. A lot of people used to drive DAEWOO RACER and SKODA back in the early/mid 90's. Have u seen any on the road lately? Don't be a follow follow "Think Global, Act Local" I dont know the ground in PH, u do. Its up to you. If the car will be ur second car fine but for a primary ride,,,,, Hmmmmm Good luck friend. 3 Likes 1 Share |

190: @ 190, Its not my intention to discourage u. However, i think that u are already in love with a Yaris. Y dont u either save more or contact any US based dealer directly and see what can be done. Its not even in Cotonou as u have found out. u are now trying to convince urself that EOD wont be bad. I see that u are trying to talk urself out of the Yaris. (thats y u made the comment that its "small" "doesnt go fast" etc etc) When u know u rily rily want the car! I can almost guarantee that u probably might not be happy if u buy something else. Everytime u see a Yaris it will tug at u and ur heart will rip. Save more and be realistic about price expectation. Contact any of the active US based dealers and see what they say. |

All u can do is go thru the thread and see what "price range" Cars will eventually sell at certain price for various reasons. The car u finally decides to buy will be up/down depending on a lot of factors. |
Autos / Re: Yaris by promise72(m): 2:57am On Apr 24, 2009 |
By the way before i forget when u know that the Yaris have all these flaws u mentioned above, why do u still want it anyway? Its like sayin that a girl no fine but u still wan marry am You have been crying for a Yaris for almost 1 year! |
Autos / Re: Yaris by promise72(m): 2:49am On Apr 24, 2009 |
190: 190, u seem to be missing the point. Yaris started in 2007. Tear rubber is about 18-20k here (depending on accessories) or if its S model. Thats b4 u ship and clear. Even with depreciation, 1.7m is still good for a clean title Yaris. Cos rate is about $1 to $173 if u are buying (Someone i sent $$ to exchanged for $170 few days ago) it will be higher if u are buying as u know. So 1.7m is a little less than $10k. And the cost of the car is not decided by the size. A tear rubber Toyota Sequoia is about $55k and a tear rubber porsche turbo is well over 100k A porshe is a 2-door car. So your point doesnt hold any water at all. Super clean 2001 Camry loaded still hang around 1.3-1.4 million. For a 2001! Also, Honda EOD starts from 2003, so its unfair to compare those together cos Yaris is 2007. A fully loaded 2007 EOD is well over N3m in Naija the last time i checked. So blame it on the Xchange rate. I feel ur pain. Money no easy for Naija. E no easy anywhere. No one wants to lose his/her shirt cos of car deal. Definately not me! Pray rate goes down. Good luck friend. |
