buy the hiace cos its common in nigeria. |
u need to go around town and see which model is more common. talk to mechanic urself and see what they tell u. |
Why are there no Yellow taxis in sight? ![]() No okada also? |
i will think a CAT or a Hitachi should be your best bet. HNowever u need to know which model is common in naija. As in which one can be easily fixed in naija. Good luck. |
i apologize! |
ElRazur:I will get the first generation RAV4! The one for 1999 or so. They are tough little goats. Good gas consumption too. Unless if you think they are "too old" Price can be very attractive too. heres the pic
|
sultaan:The review is for the new one coming up. We'll see how it hold up. The functunality or gadgetry is not in question but whats in question is RELIABILITY. Reliability translates to resale value and just plain being comfortable with the car that i can count on it times and times again. Whats the point of paying little now when i will lose about 60% in 2years nogt to talk of potential "hickups" (especially electrical) that the car might suffer? ? I hope you take your GC to a village in naija and get stuck. You will see what i mean. ![]() A buyer has to make a decision based on the reviews of CR, Mototrend, Car and driver , edmunds etc. If they all kinda say the same thing who am i? ![]() |
I will let you know that this is sold in the US as Acura TSX (2004-2008) Good luck! |
Nezan:Which is true. Nigerians have a terrible maintenance culture. No doubt. However, how do you explain people here that are tru to their maintenance regimen. Always take it to the dealer for oil changes etc. Their tranny still fail!. Even little old ladies and very mature drivers. They dont race, live in nice areas, no potholes, go to work, come home, run short errands etc. There has to be a reason why Honda itself made a recall. Why arent other older honda with a lot more abuse dont have the same issue? Honda Allahs and Bullets, i am talking about ![]() |
Shagati:Thanks. Makes u wonder. Nice property, no doubt!. But at N60m, even at the 850k rent it will take you 35years just to recoup ur investment!. Profit is not even there yet. ![]() If we go by the current tenant rate of 600k, that will drop u to 50years! Even if you increase rent, its still doubtful if you can significantly catch up the lenght of return on investment if you keep in mind that current money should appreciate in later future (if you put in fixed deposit) Put in the fact that the house will need maintenance, it will need to be thought properly. One nice of a flat though. |
Shagati:Sorry, i am not too familiar with the lingo. How many flats is this altogether? How much can i let one flat out in this area.? Thanks a lot. |
equlibrium: ![]() im not in nigeria! ![]() |
Did u buy another gear yet? or not. May be i read that wrong. |
alfchye:Did you get guarantee on the one you bought? Did it work when it was installed? Personally, i will stay away from 1998-2004 Honda Accord (Especiallly the V6 Engines) The 4 cyl are not too problematic (though there are some cases). Buy Honda Bulldog or save for 2005 upwards . Dont waste money. Or if you can get manual gear is ok. Wish you best of luck my brother. |
I was wondering if anyone has the full interior and exterior pictures of Naija Yaris and Hyundai Elantra. Just curious. Thanks. |
@ poster, Whats the condition of the transmission gear? |
sultaan:Tell me u are kidding! ![]() Dakar Rally has been around 4ever. The reason "Americans dont care" is that American cars will get their A#s handed to them. Why go into a fight you know you are INCAPABLE of winning? And by them not going, they cant see what the stuff the competition is made of. Hence, more A#s whopping back home. I know u are very articulate (at least last time i checked) . Below is a US News ranking from JD Power (You must have heard of them ). Tell me what u see in the reliability score of 4runner, MB and GChttp://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Jeep_Grand-Cherokee/Reliability/ http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Toyota_4Runner/ http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Mercedes-Benz_M-Class/ You have a very staunch loyalty to American cars which is ok. But dont be clouded by your loyalty that it blinded you to the obvious. I am waiting you to condemn those reports too. Wake up from you slumber!!!! Denial is bad for your health. |
Dizzybizzy:Post the pics already! ![]() |
As much i dont reside in ?Nigeria, it is quite frightening on the new wave of banking fraud that goes on over there. There are 2 point agenda that i think the Federal govt can/should implement IMMEDIATELY to combat banking fraud. 1. All bank accounts should be linked to Fingerprint!. If you wanna open an account, all information should be linked to your fingerprint. If by any chance you "pulled a fast one" in bank A, it be automatically relayed to other banks where you might have an account. It will be up to the other banks to decide if they want to keep doing business with you. However the banks can reach a "gentleman's agreement that will drop any customer that has been flagged. So it will not be easy to fraud lets say Zenith bank and run to Oceanic to continue your evil deeds. 2. All ATM card should have 2-3 pin numbers (at the request of the Customer) Each pin number will be good for a certain limit of funds. Example, pin number 1234 can be only good for about N5,000. Then 4567 for only about N20,000 and so on. In the event that you are accosted at gun point at the ATM, you just provide the low pin number to minimize your loss. It can be programmed that balance may not show on the printout receipt. These are just what i think in my little mind that at least will cut down the problem. We all know that the banks will not cover your losses. Or better still, DON'T REQUEST FOR ATM CARD!. Do ur banking as in old times. Walk in! Desperate times, Desperate measures! |
An average Nigerian, when employed is busy (on the first day) calculating "What he/she can get out of the business". I no wan serve oga 4ever. When the same employee is not even trying to put in his/her dues. The demise of the business is also the end of the employee. No doubt. May be its in the culture or so, i dont know. A culture that will allow a tenant to owe to 2-3years without getting kicked out. So he/she is not even budgeting rent in monthly funds. Na so so beg beg. Try that here in the States and see how fast the Marshals will be at ur door locking you out. When i say we are lazy. I mean it. Consider this: An oga of a company hires a driver to drive to/from work. Driver gets oga to work in the morning nothing to do. He only lays down the seat and sleep until oga is ready to go again next 8hrs!!!. why even get a driver? Here i rest. |
sultaan:Point well taken. Now i know i have a lot of work on my hand. Cos you reveal how little u know the more you talk. Nigerians even called Honda Element a "Jeep" if you must know. One question i have for you before i proceed is this: How many Dakar Rally has any American Vehicle won? Your Clue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakar_Rally#List_of_winners Tick! Tock! Tick! Tick! I am waiting for ur answer. Straight answer too. Not your in famous merry-go-round stuff ![]() |
Tha_dude:Excuse is only good for people making 'em. |
kenforum:Dont fall for that world citizen stuff. You will still need a US visa either way. You will need to appear at the embassy. I am not sure if they recognise the passport. You will be turned back! Everyone will be in US by now. |
Sorry to break it to you guys. NIGERIANS ARE BY AND LARGE LAZY PEOPLE. Especially back home. We dont have problem working 2-3jobs overseas but not at home. Dishonestly is also the name of the game. A Yoruba proverb say that "oga ta, oga ko ta, owo alaru a pe". Loosly meaning "Irrespective of the masters prospect, the servant will get paid" Many people operate by that mentality unfortunately. They have forgotten that the fate of the master and the servant are intertwined. Once again, we are very lazy people. And yes, the power issue too. |
this is auto section! |
painting is about the type of paint to use. workmanship of the painter. if you go only by price, you will be sorry. Look for others with good paint on their cars (who resprayed) and ask them |
i think the alternator is bad. any car shouldnt stop during driving even if the battery is bad. the alternator is the problem. Repair alternator. recharge battery. you should be good. Good luck |
im not sure iys the fault of the other guy that drove it. check oil level in the gear. change the gear if proiblem continues. Good luck By the way, how much was it at cotonou? |
just make sure that by the time u fix the front end on the maxima. it will still be worth it. Good luck. |
You forgot to mention if u want 2/4 wheel drive. engine size (4 or 6 cyl) etc Good luck |
sultaan:For your info. They still make 4 Runners. I know there's a lot u dont know. So thats why im here. ![]() Look at those picture and news footage from Dubai, Saudi, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan. Its littered with TOYOTA everywhere. There's a reason. Please friend: DON'T DRINK THE KOOL-AID! ![]() Still. |
