A 12-year-old student opened fire in Sparks Middle School, a Washoe Country School district of Nevada, wounding two classmates and killing a teacher before he shot himself in the head. Authorities said the boy got the the 9mm semi-automatic Ruger handgun from home.

The tragedy started before the first bell ran. Students got off their buses in preparation to begin their classes. The boy opened fire outside a school building, hitting a fellow student in the shoulder. Then, he headed toward a basketball court, where he met Landsberry, a coach.

Landsberry calmly approached the shooter, asking him to surrender his weapon. Student Jose Cazares told NBC's that "He was telling him to stop and put the gun down. Then the kid, he yelled out 'No!' Like, he was yelling at him, and he shot him."

According to Washoe County School District Police Chief Mike Mieras, Landsberry suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. However, his actions gave students enough time to run to safety.

After killing Landsberry, the shooter fired at another student, hitting him in the abdomen. He then shot himself in the head. The two 12-year-old boys who were wounded are in stable condition and recovering.
Police said they believe the shooter at one point tried to enter the school but couldn't open the door because of emergency lockdown procedures.Given that the boy found the gun at home, his parents could face charges in the case, police said.

Out of respect for the shooter's family, authorities are withholding the seventh-grader's name .At a news conference Tuesday, law enforcement and school officials again lauded the actions of 45-year-old math teacher and former Marine Michael Landsberry, who tried to stop the rampage before he was killed.

"I cannot express enough appreciation for Mr. Landsberry," Washoe County School District Superintendent Pedro Martinez said. "He truly is a hero."

A member of the congregation has confirmed that the shooting at Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center was more than likely because the late Pastor Ronald Harris Sr. appear to have been involved with the Shooter’s wife. Church members who asked not to be named are confirming reports that the pastor not only had an ongoing affair with Woodrow Karey’s wife but possibly his daughter as well, which is what led to the shooting.



As more women have come out to make allegations that they have slept with the shooting victim, another member has said that the now deceased pastor had many affairs throughout the congregation.



A church member who asked not to be identified said the pastor was having sex with different women in the Churches parsonage.



“He was sleeping with multiple women at the church parsonage, but he slept with the Deacon’s wife at the Woodrow’s house. This has been going on for a while, so it was only a matter of time before it came out. I Just didn’t think it would come out like this. If you get a man’s daughter pregnant and you sleeping with his wife – then I could see how this happened.”

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said during a press conference that the wife of the man accused of shooting Pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr. filed a rape complaint against Harris on Wednesday, two days before he was gunned down at the Tabernacle of Praise church. Mancuso said authorities will subpoena warrants to check phone records between Karey's wife and Harris.



Mancuso said there was a sexual relationship between Harris and Woodrow Karey Jr.'s wife, but couldn't say whether the relationship was consensual.



According to spokeswoman Kim Myers, it happened around 8:20 p.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center at 307 Deshotel Lane in Lake Charles.



Myers said Pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr. was shot "as he was preaching."



Woodrow Karey Jr., 53, of Lake Charles, is accused of walking into the church and shooting Harris.



Myers said Harris, of Lake Charles, was pronounced dead at the scene.



Calcasieu Parish Sheriff said Karey shot Harris with a shotgun twice, once when he walked into the church and a second time when Harris fell to the floor. Myers said Karey walked up to him and shot him at close range

logica: Believe it or not, if indeed the pastor had something to do with his wife/daughter, if the shooter gets a good lawyer he will walk free. There is a reason he is charged with second degree murder.
