Chairman, Board of Directors, Premier Breweries Plc,
Onitsha, Prince Arthur Eze, yesterday said the company
would commence full stream production of beer in the
first quarter of 2015.
Eze said this while addressing shareholders of the
company during the 2014 Annual General Meeting,
AGM, of the company for the year ended March, 2014,
held in Enugu.
He noted that with the assurances of the company’s
technical partners and the level of re-engineering so
far achieved, the company would resume its leading
role in the beer production industry in the country.
The chairman said that electricity supply had been
stabilised with the installation of a 500KVA generator
while water supply was already in place from which
the company produces the table water that was
already in the market.
Eze explained that with about N1 billion share capital,
the company settled a monthly electricity bill of N1
million and a salary bill of N3.4 million.

Career / How To Start Your Agric Business This Year by ps5(m): 8:33pm On Jun 13, 2013
There isn't a better time to start ones agric business than now.

The removal of the gasoline subsidy is a pointer to the fact we must look in direction of agriculture. For the past 6days we've been staying at home eating!. That is to tell you that food or foodstuff is a commodity that will always promote. Here are some tips on how to make your agric business this yr.

1. Set Goals- What are your goals for ones farm? What kind of farm do you think you're planning? It might be an activity farm, where your farm is a supplement to a full-time work, something relaxing you can do for fun within the evenings and on the weekends. It could be that you want your farm to essentially make money(a commercial farm), eventually replacing your present job. Or, your goal might be to provide all the food that your self need - homesteading or self-sufficiency. Your goal will determine the length of land, location and amount of money needed to start.

2. Identify and list what you look for to raise or grow: your decision on what you look for to grow or raise depends on the intention of the farm project either pertaining to business (profit) or for spouse and children consumption. A commercial farmer might be considering setting up a plantation- essential oil palm, cocoa, jatropha, moringa, cashew as well as pineapple plantation.

3. Draw a time table of if you want to start. Some crops include different growing periods. Animals can be raised anytime of the yr.

4. Information Gathering: no information is wasted, get all the necessary information on what you look for to raise. Without proper information on what for you to do, you might make some expensive mistakes that ought to have been avoided. You might get more informed by attending classes, seminars, reading books on ones proposed projects, asking questions from people already in the industry or hiring a consultant.

5 Make a feasibility report/Business plan: this gives you a summary of what for you to do. This you can do for you or pay someone to do it for you.. The feasibility study offers an investigating function that should remedy the question of “Is this a viable business venture? ” The business plan comes with a planning function that outlines those things needed to take the suggestion from “idea” to “reality. ” The feasibility study is conducted prior to a business plan. A business plan is prepared only following the business venture has been deemed being feasible. A business plan is compulsory for the large scale investor especially if you need a loan from your lender.

6. Acquire land or rent. - this applies to individuals who don’t have land. If you already have land you can begin to clear the land.

7. Label your Farm: Registering your business is important. Register the name of your farm and more importantly, the name of ones agricultural business. A farm which is not registered with CAC cannot accessibility loan from any bank throughout Nigeria.

8. Raising Capital: Privately, I advise against borrowing with a new comer into agric organization. But if you think you have to, these are ways to raise capitals either from formal as well as informal institutions: Informal institutions:

*Loan from spouse.
*Loan from relatives/Friends.
*Equity taking part.
*Partnership
*Loan from Foundations, NGOS, Cathedral, etc
Formal institutions:
*Cooperatives
*Micro- finance banks.
*Commercial banks.

9. Don’t quit your career: if you have a job that brings which you regular income, by all means hang through to it until your farm business begins to yield enough that you take salary out of the benefits. If you are close to be able to retirement, I strongly advise that an individual start you agric project while you're re still working, don’t wait and soon you retire.

10. Get the support of this spouse, other family members or neighbors: ‘Support’ might be what it is advisable to reduce initial expenses. Let the people in the area understand what you are seeking to do, they may find it very exciting. Sometimes, whole families pitch in and work together and share in the success of a venture

11. Get your initial stocks you need to!. Some Areas of investment:
Planting Agriculture: Teak, oil palm, powdered cocoa, rice, millet, moringa,
jatropha, pineapple, cashew, groundnut, orchards, Photography equipment mango, etc
Animals: grass second hand cutter, goat, cow, sheep, rabbits, snails, canine breeding, Quail, etc

Some Elements of investment:
Food crops - cassava. yam. cocoyam, lovely potatoes, corn, millet, soya pinto beans, groundnuts, etc
Horticulture: vegetables, natural herbs, fruits, flowers, dry season organic production, etc
Plantation Agriculture: Teak, essential oil palm, cocoa, rice, millet, moringa,
jatropha, pineapple, cashew, groundnut, orchards, etc

Livestock: poultry, hatchery business, marketing of 6weeks old birds, quails, turkeys, guinea chicken, etc

Agro -allied/equipment - advices, agricultural equipment -tractor, sprinklers, fertilizer, compounds, etc.

Food processing/cottage agric corporations: foodstuff processing and packaging(gaari, yam flour, starch, pinto beans, pepper, rice, etc), catfish cigarette smoking business, frozen food-chicken, snails, grasscutter, quail meat, prawns, palm oil milling organization, moringa powder and oil output, cashew nuts processing and appearance, feed formulation for catfish, poultry, quails, dogs.
Stay blessed along with happy farming!

Agriculture / Pig Farming In Nigeria by ps5(m): 9:51am On May 15, 2013
The importance for alternative source of revenue for Nigeria on account of the current global financial meltdown can't be overemphasised. The only supply of alternative income for the country is in agriculture. We must be able to develop the agric sector to provide products for internal along with export markets.

It is through agric that individuals can increase our GDP, provide food and employment opportunities for Nigerians. Establishment of commercial piggery is among the projects that readily go with this situation.

Justification connected with investment

The establishment of the proposed commercial pig farm is usually justified in the following grounds:

Many Nigerians experience malnutrition due to not enough protein in their eating habits. The Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) endorses 35 grammes of animal protein per day per person. But a lot less than 7 grammes are eaten for the average in Nigeria.

The vast majority of protein in the foodstuff derives from plants and therefore are only comparatively little from animals. Animal protein is vital because it is of a high biological value and contains the building stones for health and growth.

Animal protein shouldn't be completely substituted by plant protein. It is especially needed from the young, the old as well as the weak. The deficiency is more dangerous in the South of the country than in the North, as the staple diet within the South is monthly based on crops while the North’s the main meat producer.

Sources connected with animal protein are dairy, eggs and meat. For instance, minimum requirement of milk is accepted as ¾ of pint per day, while only 1/10 of that amount is actually ingested, on the average. A large proportion of the population won't drink milk, as dairy is expensive.

The main supply of meat stems from livestock, yet a Nigerian won't eat more than 10 pounds per year, the average American eat almost 10 times just as much.

A good sow – female pig - will farrow twice per year, each time rising as much as 10 piglets while the cow will valve once. The first litter are going to be born when the dam is one full year old, while a cow features her first calf at the age of three.

When the initial calf (beef) is set for market, 30-40 slaughter haps is usually sold from the one particular sow with about 5 to 10 times the volume of edible meat. Pigs replicate faster than cattle; they've got more offspring, which grow with a more rapid rate.

Gains in pigs are definitely more economical than in livestock. To produce 100 kilogrammes connected with live pigs requires 300 kilogrammes of feed from birth to market weight. A steer needs twice as much, it fed adequately. Even though concentrate price is higher for pigs they still can pay twice as well.

Hogs convert 1/5 of the gross energy eaten into feed compared with 1/25 by ruminants (cattle). Pigs convert farm brought up feed into meat more cheaply and even more rapidly than any additional domestic quadruple.

The pig carcass yields a better percentage of dressed meat plus a higher proportion of edible pieces. Pork is higher in energy then other various meats. It is nutritious along with tasty, as slaughter wildlife are comparably young. Pork is palatable and desirable, as it is sensitive than beef.

A slaughtered pig is usually more easily utilised, as very easy require ageing or tenderising. The goods can be smoke, salted, ready-made and stored otherwise; a smaller quantity becomes available anytime and causes less connected with storage and keeping issue. The pig carcass yields a higher dressing percentage, more edible various meats of greater nutritious worth.

The salvage value of the breeding stock is very good. This means that pigs which were used to produce several can still be sold at a relatively high price whenever they have to be sold out. Pigs can be bred anytime of the year than goats that need to be bred at a particular time of the year. Pigs are also a simple yet effective converter of industrial by-products along with agric wastes (including kitchen wastes) into pork.

Social and economic benefits derivable on the project are improvement of the economic well being of the sponsor, generation of employment opportunities, and increase in how much protein consumption thereby improving how much our health care distribution system.

Technical aspect

The project involves design and construction of all the physical infrastructure such as pig pens and exchange of foundation stock connected with pigs (breeders).

The stock female pigs are to endure intensive feeding and breeding when considering giving birth to young ones. The young ones have to be raised at the fattening house to market sizes where they'll be sold to prospective purchasers.

Also, males will be marketed to prospective buyers when they are acquired to support the females.

Business / Snail Farming by ps5(m): 1:01am On Apr 18, 2013
Snail Farming in Nigeria is quite lucrative, and many Nigerians are getting into this business involving snail farming. Apart from the point that snail farm is all to easy to manage, snail farming doesn't require much technicalities as well as capital as snails can simply be picked around for that take-off. Snail farm is easy to setup - with little structure and minor fund. Hotels, Restaurants and other eateries are those who will constantly demand the supply. You could get orders from alot of people for the supply of snails to them at agreed times and rates and you know what that means?.. Constant cash into your pocket. The Western Africa snail called Achatina Marginata will be the most desirable specie for snail farming as a result of it's high yield volume. There are other good species but I will focus on Achatina Marginata in this blog post because, it is easy to find in Nigeria. Achatina-Achatina is quite good for commercialization too, because of its high yield volume. This is because on the volume of eggs it lays immediately. Each achatina lays three hundred to 500 eggs at the same time in clutches, three times per year. Therefore, if you commence a snail farm with in relation to 100 snails, in one year you'd be getting about 150.000 snails going by the amount of eggs they produces.
