Politics / Re: Asari Dokubo: I'm Not A Militant. I Run A Private Military Company PMC by Psychokinetic: 6:12am On Aug 08, 2023
Babatunjo:
Alhaji Asari Mujahid Dokubo was live on Facebook many hours ago to clarify the reports which had always claimed that he has a private military army.

The Kalabari kingdom's chief said, "people need to know that private military companies exist everywhere. I don't know how many times I will repeat this. We have blackwater, Wagner and the likes. As for me, I don't have a private army anywhere; what I have is a private military company that provides security."

Speaking further, Alhaji Asari Mujahid Dokubo said, "in the world today, south Africa has the highest number of private military companies. In mine, we provide security not just for states but for individuals also. I am actually the Chief Executive Officer of mine."

Lastly, Alhaji Asari Mujahid Dokubo said, "if President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissions me and my men to go to Niger Republic, we will go there and return victorious because we are not their match."

What are your thoughts about this?
Lol…. The fat yoruba Mozulem superhero thinks creek and desert is the same thing. I give am only 12hrs for him and him men to dehydrate before they become target practice. Loud fat 🐷!

Crime / Re: Everyone Is A Thief. Help !!! by Psychokinetic: 5:53pm On Aug 06, 2023
MarvyWhiz:
My story begins last week, Saturday, when I received a message on Jiji from someone posing as a woman. She wanted to buy my Nintendo Switch Lite, which I had listed in my ad space. She claimed it was for her son and requested to meet that evening for the transaction. I explained that I couldn't make it that night but offered to meet at my place if it was urgent. We ended our communication for the day.

On Sunday, the same person texted me again, asking me to come over, and offered to pay for my transportation fare. She mentioned trying my number multiple times without success, I provided an alternative number, which according to her also didn't work. She requested that I meet her husband at Gwarimpa (Citec) to assess the product and make the payment.

After some thought, I decided to go to the meeting place. Upon arriving, I waited for about 15 minutes until a middle-aged man called me and confirmed his presence. We exchanged pleasantries, and he inspected the console just as I had advertised. He then gave it to a little boy who accompanied him and proceeded to make the payment. He inquired about my transportation fare, and I mentioned 1k. He generously added an additional 1k, for which I thanked him. I provided my Chipper Cash account for a quick transfer and opened my bank app to refresh it.

After approximately 3 minutes, I still hadn't received the payment alert. He expressed his need to leave as he had taken time off from work to meet me (claiming to be a soldier). I requested a moment to wait for the alert, but despite my efforts to refresh, no payment came through. He insisted that he had sent the money and asked me to take his picture as a sign of trust. He pleaded with me to show him some sympathy as he was being held back. After about 2 more minutes of checking, I reluctantly accepted that he could leave and took a picture of the debit alert. He assured me that he would refund the money if it got returned to him.

As he left in a Napep, I stayed at the gate, continually refreshing my account. However, it began to rain, so I sought shelter under a shed. While waiting, I Googled the alert issue and stumbled upon a post about a PAGA SCAM alert on Nairaland similar to my experience. https://www.nairaland.com/7724164/how-got-scammed-using-paga
It dawned on me that I had been conned, so I hurried to the police station to report the incident, where I provided a statement.

Subsequently, I found individuals on Nairaland (on that post) who claimed they could track accounts like these. I enlisted the services of one user with the username "thaikun15." He informed me that the process would take 3 to 5 days and charged me 5k. He requested an initial payment of 3k and the remaining 2k upon completion.

After waiting for the said 5 days without any response from "thaikun15," who came up with excuses, I reached out to another user named "Hope88." He claimed he could track the number from the same post. I narrated the entire incident to him, and he stated that his brother needed to be paid 1500 upfront. I offered to double the payment but requested proof first. He eventually provided certain information, including the supposed name of the scammer, his last known location, and last phone number called.

I reached out to the number and explained the situation to the person who confirmed the name and said the scammer arrived last night in Ijebu. He mentioned that the person came with a big bag and might be headed to Computer Village to sell the items inside. He expressed his willingness to help as he knew the scammer while he schooled in Abuja. Grateful for his assistance, I contacted the person who helped me track the number, thanked him, and paid him the requested N1,500.

Later, the person in Ijebu contacted me to report that the scammer had already left for Lagos, and he couldn't approach him. We had a lengthy conversation, and he expressed sympathy for my situation. When he revealed his name as Emmanuel, I was surprised since the person who tracked the supposed scammer's number also had the same name, Emmanuel. I requested to speak with the tracker over the phone, but he preferred to chat and claimed to be busy. Eventually, we spoke on the phone, and though he tried to disguise his voice, it sounded similar to the previous user, which raised suspicions.

Curious, I checked the Nairaland posts of the user "Hope88" and discovered that the same phone number he provided me belonged to him. I confronted him about this, but he denied it, stating that the account with the username "Emax132" was his real one. However, I had gathered sufficient proof to show otherwise.

Sadly, I haven't been able to trace the scammer yet and have lost money in the process of trying to track him down. It has been an agonizing week filled with depression, loss, and pain, especially since I needed the money for rent. The more people I have reached out for the help, the more they have tried to play on my grief.

The information I have about the scammer includes his number, 0913 859 8548, and Truecaller identifies him as "SUNUSI." If anyone can offer assistance, please reach out to me.
I know everything in the back of your mind was telling you that this was a scam the moment he pretended to want to leave and you didn’t get any money yet. Next time, trust your instincts!
Or was it the ‘little boy’ that did you in? 🙄

African Arabic-Script Languages Title: From the ‘Sacred’ to the ‘Profane’: the Yoruba Ajami Script and the Challenges of a Standard Orthography. Amidu Olalekan Sanni, Fountain University, Osogbo Nigeria The Yoruba (southwest Nigeria) constitute the second largest ethnic group in Nigeria. The earliest evidence of the presence of Islam and literacy goes back to the 16th/17th century. The earliest documented history of the people, which is traced to the latter part of the 17th C, was in Yoruba language but in the Arabic script (Ajami). This makes Yoruba one of the oldest African languages with an attested history of Ajami. (Cf. Mumin & Versteegh 2014; Hofheinz 2018). However, the oldest, extant Yoruba Ajami exemplar is a 19th C Islamic verse (waka) by Badamasi Agbaji (d. 1895- Hunwick 1995). There are several items of Yoruba Ajami in poetry, personal notes, esoteric knowledge (Cf. Bang 2019), among others. Nevertheless, Yoruba Ajami remained idiosyncratic and not socially diffused, as there was no standardized orthography. The plethora of dialects, the absence of a central promotional institution, among others, are responsible. My paper will examine the efforts (Abdussalām (1992), Yūsuf (1997), Amīn (1998, 2000), Abdulhameed (2008, 2013), and ISESCO (2014f) towards the establishment of a standard Yoruba Ajami orthography for sacred and mundane usages among the locals, sufi orders, and educational institutions. It will analyze the obstacles that impeded the success of the efforts and how to overcome them. How a standard Ajami orthography can popularize the diffusion of knowledge and information in a digital scholarly and social milieu is examined.

Road to 2023: North ‘ll vote massively for Peter Obi – El-Buba

President and General overseer of Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), Prophet Isa El -Buba said Northern Nigeria will galvanized massive support for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi as President in 2023.

He noted that the movement will recruit over 40 million Nigerians who will be trained, vote and protect Peter Obi votes across various polling units in the country.

Prophet El-Buba disclosed this on Saturday while leading hundreds of Peter Obi’s supporters for a 2 million walk across major streets in Jos, Plateau State.

He urged the people to vote massively for Peter Obi as President and vote other credible candidates who are standing election in some political parties that have worked for the state in the past and are willing to secure and protect Plateau citizens.

“I am a Kanuri man form the North East and I want to declare that Northern Nigeria will stand and vote massively for Peter Obi, anybody who said Obi does not have support from the North is deceiving himself, we will shock them during the election.

“We are going to work to turn the table from bottom to the top, those at the bottom will go to the top while those at the top will go to the bottom; we will disappoint the big politicians in this country, our marriage with Tinubu and Atiku has been broken.

“We are going to form a new Nigeria, a Nigeria where there will be security, a Nigeria where economy will work, a Nigeria where the son of a common man can be something.”

Prophet El-Buba described Middle Belt as the belt that has held Nigeria for several years and said the region has expressed total support for Peter Obi presidency in 2023.

“Peter Obi is not our Messiah but he is going to be our servant, he will be the vessel God will use for the realization of new Nigeria. We will kick against any power that has held Nigeria bound.” He stated.

The walk which commenced from the Rwang Pam Township stadium at about 9am culminated at the Secretariat Junction Flyover bridge, Jos, Plateau State

Rest Well BBNaija

I want to sincerely commend you all. They told you that you won't be focused once the immoral big brother Naija show begins. They tried to reduce your sense of judgment, they concluded that you will choose the show over the desire to push for a better government. But you have proven them wrong so far. Even the organizers did not rate you.

Nothing is more important than getting it right this time around. Instead of voting for housemates who do not have any value to add to our future, we will channel the energy towards voting for the right leaders so that there will be jobs that can pay our youths well, and by that, the monetary enticement that pushes people to go for big brother Naija and commit all sorts of immoral acts will naturally lose its hold on anyone who is really hard working.

With the decline of interest in BBNaija this year, I don't see the show recovery and taking the position it was initially accorded. Rest well BBNaija. Zugodi ezigbo ike!
