[b]Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo has revealed that Ghana borrows $10.6 billion yearly to pay for the consumption of goods and services.

According to Mr. Adongo, it is a worrying thing that should be addressed else the Akufo-Addo-led government will plunge the country into doom leaving huge debts behind for the future generation.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Thursday after the Finance Minister addressed legislators on the depreciation of the cedi and the Eurobond, the Bolga Central MP said government shouldn’t have gone for the Eurobond in the first place because it is a complete waste of time since it’s not utilised well.

The NDC MP explained that it is appalling to know the current government only borrows to pay for goods and services.

“What is worrying is the fact that there’s nothing now left to pay for goods and services and we go to borrow to pay for goods and services. So if we take goods and services together, you take the difference in wages and salaries, we are borrowing 10.6 billion every year to pay for our consumption...We are leaving a debt for our children without an asset and you’re still celebrating it,” he quizzed.

“It is so serious that if we look at the utilisation of the last two Eurobonds, it is better we didn’t go to the Eurobond in 2017 because if this is what we are going to be doing then this country is doomed...You go to the capital market to borrow and spend on consumption. 630 million of our Eurobond of 750 million was spent on consumption and the Minister of Finance should be worried,” he warned.[/b]

you don't quote an opposition member of parliament whose sole objective is to make the government of the day highly unpopular when next year is an election year, besides,he Adongo has been called out severally from his lies and has no credential or moral authority to spew out such propaganda message during discussions on the floor of parliament.

Take his statement with no single iota of truth cos he was part of a government who was recently voted out due to our 2015 energy crisis and a stock pile of corruption allegations in 2016.Why do you think he began his statement from 2017 and not before 2017 when he was in government. Don't you smell the mischief in his deceitful accusations.

Next time when you quote someone from Ghana, at least quote any of our several independent economic experts or numerous economic policy think tanks which is rated the best in the continent .They speak constructively not in a propaganda tone.

Just because we choose to act like a modern country does not makes us pro-west and anti-africa.After independence we didn't just send whites away...we built capacity.We send 2000 Kenyans to mostly ivy league schools including Obama dad who returned with PhD in economics from Harvard.Kibaki who steered our finance and late became our 3rd president came back with master in economics from London school of economics.Nobel laurate Prof Maathai came back armed with PHd in science. They all came back prepared to lead the country.Most of Africa policy wonks hardly prepared to manage their countries sank them in few years after independence starting with Ghana who called IMF in 1960s.And nobody has declared your current president the most eloguent..and it doesn't matter how good his English is if IMF is running the country.

As for Chinese loans,we have taken billions.Even Mills took 3 billion dollars Chinese loans when we had no oil and now 2 billion dollars Chinese loans for bauxite mining has been realeased this year for roads infrastructures. Most major highways and flyover were done with Chinese loans buh we don't let any economy controls us because we have the natural resources to act as collateral unlike your tea dependant economy who has nothing with the Chinese government seizing your economy if you can't pay your Chinese loans burdens which I know you can't. No African economy can manage such loans. yes,we travel because as i said,Ghana was literally a failed state right from 1975 down to late 1990s.We had to overuse our visa free status with Denmark,Germany and UK.We forced them to stop the visa free status given to us.In 1983 and 1985,Nigeria had to forcefully deport over 2.5 million Ghanaians .

We experienced extreme drought and famine for more than a decade.All the western countries had forsaken Ghana all because Nkrumah fought for African Unity and anti Western culture. He was ousted and our curses began.Jomo Kenyeatta who was in bed with the western capitalist together with other sellout African leaders and former French puppet countries betrayed Nkrumah's dream and thus Africa been stagnant up till date.Sellouts among many African nations such as Kenya,DRC's Mobutu,etc etc caused Nkrumah's downfall hence Ghana, the black Star of hope of Africa who once prided itself as a beautiful bride and first child of black Africa was reduced to nothing.We had to beg before we could feed ourselves and all our gold and rich resources lied waste.

We went through over 30 years of turmoil and military takeovers throughout these years.It brought out the immigration tendencies in us and we were forced to leave our motherland just to survive and even Togo and Cote D'Ivoire were our dream destinations. We spread around UK and USA by most of our people and till date,our diaspora community remains one of the largest remittance into Africa,third behind Nigeria and Egypt for a country of less than 30 million people. Billions of dollars is remitted into Ghana annually and we are not ashamed to call ourselves travelers. Egypt is another improved country in Africa who travels worldwide and it doesn't make them poor buh they had once communicated with poverty before thus their large diaspora population. Ethiopia has been there before. We don't travel now because we're poor in fact an average Ghanaian is far better and richer than an average Kenyan or any East African. We travel now because we are exposed to the world.Most African countries travel less buh are far poorer.

mobile money doesn't formalize anything in fact it breeds more informal businesses than ever.We have it in Ghana and is nationwide also.You can't formalize your economy without educating your people.The secret is education. Educate your population and let them know why they should formally register their enterprises, reduce the long hurdles and requirements needed for a business registration,give them the advantages of going formal and positive security implications on their businesses which can last for generations without outside hindrance,make technology easily accessible .Kenya and Ghana fails mostly in this region thus our name "Developing Economy ".You don't go round with officials carrying books and pens to register their businesses which majority of them will even fail the criteria to be registered.
