Christistruth00:Well I won't argue with you again Even if they have relationship with Yoruba they said they are not Yoruba and reject being Yoruba. Nobody can force them to be what they don't want to be, you read what David posted on Twitter? So it is your problem if you still call them Yoruba, to me they are not Yoruba. |
Soso75:You are the one that need to read, stop peddling falsehood Even Ibadan people originated from some where and they came from Ile - ife in Osun State. If you are not Ignorant you would know that Ibadan people are also known as Oyo people. The indigenous people of Osogbo in Osun State, Ede in Osun State, Ikirun, gbongan, Ogbomosho in Oyo state, Ila Orangun in Osun State, Ibadan in Oyo state etc. all belong to the same sub group of Yoruba known as Oyo people. Tell me how Ibadan people are the only True Yoruba when they speak the same Yoruba dialect as people in Osogbo, Ede, Ila Orangun, Ogbomosho, Ggbangan, Ikirun, etc? You see how stupid you sound. I am an Ijesha man from Ilesa in Osun State and I can understand all Oyo people in Osogbo, Ogbomosho, Ede, Ibadan etc when they speak their dialect, same way they can also understand me if I speak in my dialect, linguistically there is almost no differences except for pronunciation and intonations of certain words in Yoruba, culturally we are also the same, we greet the same way, worship the same kind of gods, wear the same kind of clothes etc nobody need to tell you you are the same kind of people to know you are the same kind of people if you have brain. You see that you are the stupid one that think he is wiser than 30 million people. |
Christistruth00:Yoruba is different from ewe and Ga people of Ghana Stop saying what you don't know. |
Etinosa1234:Yes you are not Yoruba The Bini People that we can call Yoruba were the people that followed Oranmiyan to Benin to helped him with ruling over Benin but overtime they got heavily influenced by Benin people and became part of them so they are no longer Yoruba. |
Christistruth00:Yoruba don't have any kingdom that bear Popo or Popo kingdom I don't know where you take your own history lessons from |
Christistruth00:It is wrong they came from Benin Republic not ile ife. What that chief said is totally different from what their Historian said and what they claimed themselves.
|
Christistruth00:They are linked to Benin Republic not even Ghana. The fact is that many of them don't claim Yoruba and none of the history you said linked them to ile - ife or Yoruba. At least you heard what David said, you can't force them to be what they don't want to be, they even demand their own state in Lagos. You are entitled to your opinion but to me they are not Yoruba, many of them don't even claim it and they are not even listed among part of Yoruba. |
Christistruth00:You lack knowledge about Yoruba history There is no Yoruba sub-group that bear popo And what you are saying is their History is totally different from what they claimed. There are Ijaw people in Ondo state, it doesn't make them Yoruba just because they lives in South west.
|
Christistruth00:They might have some relationship it still doesn't make them Edo or Bini Same way Yoruba have relationship with Bini and we still don't call them part of us. The Oyo Empire conquered Dahomey Kingdom and ruled it for many years, it doesn't make every people in Dahomey kingdom Yoruba, the people that claimed being Yoruba in Benin Republic today are people their ancestors migrated from ile-ife, Oyo Empire, Ijesha kingdom and other Yoruba people that migrated from South west region in Nigeria and settled in Benin Republic and Dahomey Kingdom in those days. Dahomey kingdom still have its own indigenous people that are not connected culturally and linguistically with Yoruba in any way. It is just like saying every Nigerian is a British because we were colonised by them. The only thing that can make Egun Yoruba is the fact they have been living in Lagos Nigeria and Yoruba land for so long, which make them naturalised Yoruba, but you still can't call them full blooded Yoruba they would be egun - Yoruba. It is just like when Nigerian traveled to Britain, USA etc and became their citizens for living in there country for so long or getting born there but they would always be Nigerian - Americans or Nigerian - British. Linguistically and culturally egun is different from Yoruba. |
christistruth01:I am an Ijesha man from Ilesa in Osun State and I understand Ekiti people when they speak their dialect. Our ancestors understand each other very well in those days even with their different dialects, but English language is now changing every thing, many Yoruba can't even speak their dialect again and can hardly speak pure Yoruba without English but you want to understand those that can still speak their dialect very well when you can't even speak and understand yours. |
Christistruth00:These are the known sub groups of Yoruba and it even include Yoruba groups in Benin Republic and Togo that migrated from ile ife. There is no egun on the list. They might have relationship with Oyo Empire doesn't mean they are Yoruba, at least your ancestors must had migrated from Ile - ife in Osun State to consider you Yoruba. The Oyo Empire conquered Dahomey Kingdom and ruled it for many years, it doesn't make every people in Dahomey kingdom Yoruba, the people that claimed Yoruba in Benin Republic today were people their ancestors migrated from ile-ife, Oyo Empire, Ijesha and other Yoruba sub groups that migrated from South west region in Nigeria and settled in Benin Republic and Dahomey Kingdom in those days. Dahomey kingdom still have its own indigenous people that are not connected culturally and linguistically with Yoruba in any way. It is just like saying every Nigerian is a British because we were colonised by them. They do not even claim Yoruba, at least you read what David Posted on Twitter. And You lack knowledge about Yoruba, there is no Yoruba sub group that bear Popo https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Yoruba_subgroups
|
Damisic:The Yoruba sub groups in Nigeria are not up to 100 The sub tribes of Yoruba are not even up to 20 and they are connected culturally and linguistically. All the founders and ancestors of these sub groups were people that migrated from Ile - ife in Osun State. Stop peddling falsehood if you are ignorant, egun people are not even on the list and the list even included Yoruba people in Benin Republic and Togo https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Yoruba_subgroups
|
christistruth01:Benin People have historical relationships with Yoruba but you don't see us calling them Yoruba, same thing with egun. They might have some relationship with Yoruba it doesn't mean they are Yoruba. They don't even claim it themselves
|
MrColdsweat:Awori are Yoruba but egun are different they don't even claim Yoruba.
|
LegendHero:Egun people are not Yoruba, they even reject it Yes they might have some relationship with Yoruba but they are not Yoruba, they are like Benin people.

Obalatule:Nzam, Igbedor, Inoma, Odekpe, Owelle, Ukwala, Onugwa, Ode, Ala and Igbokeyi. All these are two Igala villages? ![]() Typical Osu Alusi, you are obviously the shameless dingbat here. Keep crying on behalf of Ilorin people while Igbo in Anambra are Igala slaves. |

|
JonCleary:The system works over there but Ghananians government is closing down their businesses because of every flimsy reasons and excuses. How many Nigerians businesses have been shutdown in USA and UK for the same reasons? Why won't Ghana shutdown their businesses when people like you won't stop glorifying their shithole. Ghana is still a shithole like Nigeria nothing better or special |
Bobbybrwon:That guy called himself Igbo from rivers state, he is not Yoruba I don't know what his aim is |

The Lagos State Government says it recorded 81 per cent of the projected revenue for the first half of 2020, in spite the scourge of COVID-19 pandemic on economic activities. The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Sam Egube, disclosed this at the 2019/2020 Annual Press Conference Week Lecture, of the Lagos State Governor’s Office Correspondents (LAGOCO). The theme of the lecture is ”Rethinking Lagos from The Post COVID-19 Era”. Egube, the guest speaker at the event, who was represented by Mr Lekan Balogun, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Economic Matters, said that the 81 per cent performance of the projected revenue for the period was at N432.6 billion. He said that in spite the COVID-19 pandemic, the government had been able to re-strategise to conform with the demands of the present realities. According to him, good governance is one which has the ability to respond when disturbances arise. ”Lagos State economy remains the largest and arguably the fastest growing economy in Nigeria. ”The state’s economy was projected to grow at four per cent prior to COVID-19. However, COVID-19 has affected the possibilities of achieving such prosperous target. ”Having looked at the half of the year budget performance, it showed that despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the total revenue recorded in performance is at 81 per cent of our initial target,” he said. Egube, however, said that while the state’s economy was projected to record a four per cent growth, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought in strains that demanded a contraction in the state’s budget by 21 per cent in response to constriction in economic activities. He said that the review of the budget was, among others, necessitated by lower GDP growth, decline in demands for goods and services, and shortfall in revenue generation. The commissioner said that the review in the state’s budgetary plan was effected to maintain a strong response to the effects of the pandemic on food, ensure job creation, economic stability and economic reforms for ease-of-doing business. He said that the experience of the lockdown brought the government to the reality of the shortcomings in the state’s food storage system, which necessitated the increase of the allocation to agriculture to N2.8 billion. Egube said that with the experience of COVID-19, the state government had introduced the creation of stabilisation fund at one per cent of yearly IGR, to provide support during future emergencies. In his remark, Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, said that in spite the COVID-19 crisis, ”governance never stopped”. According to him, as soon as the lockdown was eased, the piloting of the state commenced, which has led to the commissioning of a number of completed projects, while those undergoing execution are set for completion. He said that the projects completed amidst the COVID-19 lockdown included the rolling out of new buses for ease of transportation, unveiling new boats and channel-routes for waterways; commissioning of new health facilities; housing schemes, among others. In his goodwill message, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, appreciated members of the Governor’s press corps for the support given to Sanwo-Olu’s administration in terms of publicity of government programmes. While urging the journalists to continue in that regards, Akosile assured Lagosians of the readiness of the governor to deliver on his campaign promises. In his address, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Dr Qasim Akinreti, commended the governor for showing exemplary leadership, in spite of the attendant challenges. According to him, Lagos has excel very well to redefine the way people do things. ”It is on record that when COVID-19 came, the governor stood up to be counted and responded appropriately. Lagos has become a reference point, other governors have come to borrow a leaf from Lagos State,” Akinreti said https://www.pulse.ng/business/lagos-records-81-revenue-performance-in-1st-half-of-2020/r39q2fk Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44
