At least ten princes have been shortlisted for the throne for the vacant stool of the Alaafin of Oyo by the Oyomesi, the traditional council in the ancient town.

The position of the Alaafin became vacant as a result of the transition of the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

About 119 princes had indicated interest in occupying the stool of Alaafin but many were disqualified.

Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Bode Durojaiye, made this disclosure via a statement.

Durojaiye, in the statement made available to journalists said the Oyomesi has concluded the interview for aspirants for the Alaafin stool.

He added that a total of 65 contestants appeared for the exercise.


Durojaiye, in a statement signed on behalf of the Bashorun of Oyo, High Chief Yussuf Akinade Ayoola Layinka, said that only 10 aspirants were qualified after the interview.

He said members of the Oyomesi would soon meet to deliberate on the next step, which is the Ifa (oracle) consultation.

Whoever emerges among the shortlisted aspirants will be the candidate and the next Alaafin of Oyo.

“The state government is not only aware but carried along in all our proceedings before, during and after the interview period.


“The state government is ably represented by the Chairperson of the Atiba Local Government and some officials of the council”, he said.

We are crying about security challenges in Nigeria and Tinubu proposed Military awareness where Nigerian youths will be able to defend themselves by serving in the military or having military training. Same thing is being practice in countries like South Korea, Greece, Turkey, Israel etc every man and woman over 20 years of age must go for 1 year mandatory military service and training in South Korea, same thing in Isreal and other countries.

There is a saying that says "desperate times call for desperate measures" we cry about our security challenges every day online, a man brought an idea that could solve our challenges or reduce it instead of mulling over it and think about the possibility we are all online castigating him over it and fighting vigorously against the idea because it is an idea that could bring us discomfort and we don't want to leave our mama's bed, and we still come online every day to Shamelessly wail about our security challenges after vehemently rejecting and mocking an idea that have the potential of solving the problem.

Nigeria population is already over 200 million and if you combined the total population of our security forces in Nigeria I am sure they are not up to 500,000. Imagine a country of 200 million people being police and secure by people not up to 500,000 and you think we won't have porous borders and you believe we won't be over run by evil forces from foreign countries and within but if all Nigerian youths at least have knowledge of self defense and military awareness then it is another story.

Deep down we are vehemently against that idea of Tinubu because we are weak and cowards, nobody want any discomfort or want to sacrifice anything but you want the country to be secure but by who? How are our security forces that are undermanned going to cover every where in the country?.

How is getting more youths to join our security forces such a bad idea to solve our security issues in the country like Tinubu proposed?. If Israel people were like us, weak and scare of leaving our mama's bed Isreal would have been wiped off from the face of earth by Iran and other Islamist terrorists a long time ago.


Mocking Tinubu for proposing to recruit 50 million youth in to the military is like mocking ourselves, Tinubu is not recruiting them to secure himself. We cry of the unprofessional conducts of our military men everyday why can't we embrace Tinubu's idea and make the changes that we want in our Military, but the Youths are so brain dead in this country all we do is wail nobody is ready to take actions.
