Ekealterego: Duuumbooo! It was the "shorter notices" that was published under African Journals.
The shorter notices ended up warning the general public against Alagoa's fraud.
which universe publishes a "book" under "Journals"? You are super dumbo, infact the dumbest of all time. Every book has its own classification. Shorter notices" is a " type" of book in consideration. I have told you several times that In your dumb mind, shorter notice doesn't mean warnings. Lol. At least, a friend who writes a book could have explained to you & save you this show of shame. Even if you don't have a friend who writes books, you can go ask your lecturer in school. On the website, Cambridge has it like this; Type: Shorter notice Information: The Journal of Africa history, Volume16, Issue 4, October 1975, pp. 639 On National library of Australia, they have as; Type: book Every book has its type & has its categorization. Lastly, LATHAM'S review is entirely different, it is just his own personal opinion of the book. Reviewing is open, if you want to also review, go on the website and register as a member, then you can place your review under the book. You're so dumb. I will stop replying you because I can't cope with how dumb you sound anytime you open your brain to quote me. |

Ekealterego: You are really not intelligent.
Anyone can write a book.50 Cent can write a book today and it will be hosted in the best libraries in the world, but the scholarly properties is a different matter.
Alagoa could or will not make that book into a scholarly journal for instance because as you can see it does not meet minimum requirements. I mean, he did not even reference properly nor make reference to original documents. Even scholars who sight him make notes down to clarify that that is his own version of history and not the actual truth.
He cannot and never made the book into a journal, which is usually the dream of most scholars who write a thesis. You're so dumb to see Cambridge classified his book under African Journals. You're even dumber than i thought. |

Ekealterego: Talk with small sense.... Did the person who raised the issue about UI not bring evidence of publications and all the scholarly sins Alagoa commited. Was it not published on Cambridge and Swansea? Didn't they call out UI in the mistake?
Strange you call the girl market woman talk, while you just literarily dumbed down the whole talk. Pls, God gave you a brain for a use, if you cannot use it, then i'm sorry, I can't help you. Google " the chronicle of Bonny by Alagoa". The results would give you lists of libraries where his book is available for sale. Aside, Cambridge, the book is also available on worldcat, National library of Australia collection, Africa books Collective, Amazon, etc.whereby there is no such review. The review of LATHAM was a personal opinion which does not affect the general acceptability of the book on several national & international libraries. I'm beginning to doubt your literacy level. You talk like a school drop out. University of Ibadan Press was the publishing company, therefore, its name has to appear on the book. There's no book anywhere in the world that is not published by a publishing company and every book carries the name of its publisher. There has been no review on other platforms, if you want to review his book, go and register as a member like LATHAM did, so you can give your own opinion just as LATHAM did. I'm taking my time to explain this much because i realized a lot of you are so dumb. |

Bkayyy: From evidences, including the snippets that is acknowledged by Alabo7978 which featured the Nembe dialect Baikie met when he toured Nigeria. The dialect he later compared with Isuama dialect. The evidence that proves beyond reasonable doubt that Nembe indigenes then spoke in Igbo.
By the way, which minority are you talking about? Are you talking about the same Minorities that are currently committing Cultural Genocide on the people of Bonny? The same minority that changed the name of someone's ancestor from Pepple to Perekule? The same Minority that once challenged the legal existence of Opobo? The same minority that is blackmailing the indigenes of Bonny, Opobo and Bom (New Calabar) by attaching a stigma to their Igbo heritage?
The minority that have conditioned the indigenes of Nembe to second fiddle and is now advocating to totally eradicate the origins and culture of Bonny people?
The minority that is doing this below? Nembe is now the new grab. The eyes of land grabbers are now fully shifted on Nembe. By the time una grab all tribes of Niger delta, una body go rest. It was not a crime that the forefathers of the minorities learned ibo language for trading purposes and name their children after ibo as friendly gestures, only if they knew that ibos would operate a manual decades down the line. Until they they get to the ground and amongst the people before they realize their folly. It is a shame, moreso, a big fraud to think such a thing among the minorities who clearly have their own histories. This fraud did not start with the modern generation of ibos but it was the manual that was handed to them by the whites. Have you noticed that ibos would label you ibo just because you bear an ibo name or remotely have a similar dialect as any of the ibo dialects. |

Take a look at the snippet below, what do you discover?
The whites had done a great disservice to the minority tribes of the Niger delta by classifying a lot of the tribes as ibo. I would be less harsh on the whites for the fact that they lacked the understanding of the unique dialectical and geographical distribution of many tribes of the Niger delta, thereby wrongfully lumping together a lot as being ibos. Ibos started began leaving the hinterland through slavery and then after, heavy migration to settle among many tribes of the Niger delta. By their huge population concentration, ibos could easily submerged, overwhelm & greatly influence their host minorities. Little wonder, many of their surrounding neighbors with whom they share boundaries are heavily influenced and most times, acculturated.
The submission of the author in No72 is a great injustice against the minorities who clearly have their own distinct identities different from the ibos. Ibos spoken by a great number of tribes does not & never will make them ibo. It is only circumstantial that ibos are spoken, often times, adopted by these tribes. Sometimes, as a second language. The large number of ibos in the Niger delta gives ibos undue advantage and commanding influence over tribes with smaller numbers.

This review complained the author ought to have expanded his sources of information instead of limiting it to Prof Fombo's work. It also complained of inadequate referencing of the pictures, which is expected of an academic publication.
It did NOT point out any falsification of earlier published works. It didn't mention anything about Igbo at all, let alone whether it's for or against Igbo, so why crying wolf when none exist? You can help translate to ibo language. Maybe it would sink in their brains. |

OfoIgbo: If it was just about the Chronicles of Grand Bonny, how then was Ijaw being mentioned in a book about Grand Bonny? Why did he COMPLETELY SUBMERGE Mr. Fombo's manuscript.
Before I carry on, I believe it will be a good idea for core Igbos to get hold of Mr. Fombo's manuscript. There are points in it that Alagoa wished submerged.
For a scholarly work by Alagoa to earn this line, backed by University College of Swansea WHAT IS WORSE IS THAT THE NEW TEXT IS NEITHER VERY SCHOLARLY NOR VERY INTERESTING. This totally calls into question, Alagoa's scholarly pedigree.
How did the chronicling of Grand Bonny, all of a sudden turn into a land-grabbing effort, to the extent that the core manuscript which is the main source of information on Grand Bonny was COMPLETELY IGNORED? But rather, Alagoa chose to use secondary sources, with the full intention of elevating details in those secondary sources, to completely achieve the obscuring and submerging on the principal source of information for Grand Bonny.

Ekealterego: Brother, this is not just a review, it was a special notice academically sponsored, Cambridge published and University of Swansea backed rejection of a fraud.
The book was about Bonny, which at that time became a tool for propaganda rather than true academic work.
Going through its one by one
1. University of Swansea and Cambridge University thought this was a roadside and hungry beer parlour historians that wrote the history about Bonny.
This is a very disappointing little book. On picking it up I thought that Ibadan University Press had taken the enterprising step of publishing a history of one of the most important Niger delta towns, written by a local historian who had not been trained at a University.
2. Here, it states that Algoa falsified the original manuscript and history with his own fantasies.
I hoped and assumed that Dr Alagoa's contribution would be restricted to scholarly annotation, and perhaps a separate comment. But instead, Mr Fombo's manuscript, originally acquired by Professor Anene in I963 and now in the Africana Collection of the University of Ibadan, has been completely submerged by Dr Alagoa's new text.
3. Alagoa being a fraud again rewriting history and replacing academic history with his own falsification. A serious academic crime What is worse is that the new text is neither very scholarly nor very interesting. As the title suggests, it is a chronicle, and a bare one. There is virtually no attempt at interpretation at all, just a sequence of kings and events.
4. Alagoa failed to use references (Biggest academic sin) and decided not to use original history
The references which are made are mostly to secondary sources, and almost completely ignore the main source for the Niger coast, F.O. 84 (Slave Trade). There are no references given for the photographs, a characteristic regrettably common in Nigerian histories. Thus this book does little but reveal the need for a proper history of Bonny, a worth-while project for which there is abundant material. In it, this chronicle will deserve a footnote. In the meantime, Ibadan University Press could consider giving us Mr Fombo's original text. Then perhaps they could follow it up with the work of other local historians such as E. N. Amaku of Calabar.
5. In case you don't understand, Alagoa was fraudulently replacing some key people, names and ethnicity with his own. That is what they meant by "bowdlerize".
But let us have the original script intact, before the scholars bowdlerize it out of recognition.
In summary, Bonny's history was fraudulently rewritten by Alagoa. What a shame! They called him a roadside historian while committing academic sin.
Lying scum, Cambridge University has his book still selling on its website. And the man was not speaking for University of Swansea, he was just a member of staff speaking out his observations in his personal opinion The rest of your trash, I have earlier addressed it. |
