In the spirit of giving back to this forum.
I already had my visa when I came across this thread and I took time to read as much as I can, also asked some questions and was answered by wonderful people. Our vias was for vacation, so has gotten from this thread I wrote to upgrade my data and was replied ,which I printed out.
Flew with Qatar airline at 32 weeks with my husband and daughter after arranging all burden of proof.
Qatar airline has a fit to fly form on line which I filled with my doctor and also a letter written on the hospital letter that am fit to fly. At MMA I gave them the form when asked for fit to fly and the man refused it and insisted that he need the letter headed of the hospital, thank God I have the other letter with me. He then asked me to go to the Port health where my bump was examined and blood pressure was done and was issued a certificate of fit to fly at 28weeks because my bump measured 28cm.
Flying Qatar to houston is a very long journey o. From MMA to doha is 7 hours, from doha to houston is 15 hours with 9 hour stopover, they were to give us accommodation but they said it was full and we had to stay in their business class lounge.
Congra........ waiting mood activated for the rest gist.

So na bump measurement dem dey give u ur weeks, chaiiii, my own na oversize oooo. grin

Depending on the POE, for me nothing was asked nor sighted only my passport.

You don't need your doctor to give another medical report instead get one from the airport. It's from their port health. I was referred there by my airline. Just go there with your most recent scan result, pay 1,000 naira and they'll give you a ministry of health medical report after checking your blood pressure.

I flew airfrance from abuja and that was all they asked for. The medical report from port health supercedes all others.
Thanks very plenty. Does it mean all airline provide this service?

So, we had our son last Friday in AL.

It's so affordable and the stress is less. We picked up the birth certificate on Tuesday and applied for US passport same day. 2days later, we went to Nigerian Embassy in Atlanta for the Nigerian passport. I had done the online application 2 days earlier. Paid for expedited for US passport (which is 2-3wks) and the regular (2-3days postage) for Nigerian passport. We still have 4 weeks left before our return date so we just sit down, sing worship songs, drink tampico juice and visit town while we wait for our baby's passports and our return date.

For payment, 4100 for hospital fee (came to that cost because we got a discount of 1k), Drs fee 1000, baby's hospital fee (2nights) is 600, Paediatrician's fee 300. For me, the cost is below what we expected so we are every grateful to God.
Congratulations my sister. God bless d child real good.

Thought is atlanta. U for see porting. that's if e never late. Lol.

Congratulations to all the mummy's for successful POE.

Pls help from those who inform the embassy for change of intent.

In a situation whereby a family was issue a visa for vacation and the VO did not ask if the woman was pregnant as at the time of interview and their was no intention to give birth as at the time of interview so the woman did not mentioned it.

But now she wants to use the visa for vacation and birth with the family.

1. Can she still send to the embassy change of intent

2. How long does it take for them to response

3. What could be her chances as she was 3 months preg as at the time of interview.

Pls advice. Thks

Like Shawbabe mentioned earlier, you might not get any appointment with an obgyn till you send in your medical reports. I suggest you get in contact with one affiliated to Northside, then you can print out you email convos with them for you to hold for POE. In the mail, they'll mention how much you are expected to pay, schedule you for an appointment (they'll ask when you are getting into town, so it should be around then) upon review of your records from Nigeria.
You can contact Judy Furbish (North Atlanta Obgyn Patient Care coordinator) 770-752-0824 ext 5101.
Thank you so much, I did sent her a mail over the weekend as I come across it when searching for obgyn, and she has reply and ask me to send my record which I have sent.

Waiting for her reply now.

Thanks so much.

One luv. U guys are the bomb.

Lol relax! U are too stressed. Letter and correspondence from Dr doesn't guarantee entry. I traveled with no letter or choice of Dr sef. And only 40 dollars in my bag becoz hubby had wired all the money to his Bank of America acct. I just had his Atm cards. And I told the border agent that I have a Dr and hospital in mind and will decide when I visit both. He said ok and stamped me in. I made up my mind when I was settled in Atl. It's all about confidence and how u answer their questions abeg. I no carry any burden of proof oh.

Atl obgyns will not give u an appointment till they get ur records. So u can send it to them if u want appointment but they won't send u any letter or correspondence.
Thks so much. This has really cool my brain

How it is been disposed, I don't know and didn't even care cos I was overwhelmed with the joy of seeing my baby. She was the only thing I was seeing at that moment. But I remembered that I was asked prior to delivery if I wanted to donate it to a cord bank and I said No

As far as I know, it's disposed of as biohazard waste. I don't think you should be asking them to package the placenta and give it you. They probably won't answer you anyways.
My dear friend, I am not taking abt packaging, how do they dispose it, is the questions. Package it for u to take to where?

Their system are different from ours that's why am asking.

But if dem package ur own for you, u fit let me knw. Lolzzz smiley

I don't think anyone paid Northside before leaving Naija.Just show them at your POE the personal letter that has your name written on it of their price estimate. Then try to get a personalized letter from your Obgyn stating they'll be accepting you and how much they'll be charging.
I really can't tell what your Obgyn package is,some are inclusive of all test and blood works while some aren't.so you'll have to discuss with your Obgyn. There are several Obgyn affiliated to Northside, you can speak with them and decide which works for you.
You can source for your own pediatrician if you want but from what I've gathered Northside would give you one if you don't have any.
As for the placenta disposal, that one pass me o,lol...still on the waiting line.@shawbabe would be in a better position to help with that.
You shouldn't have much problem at the POE.Just have your cash(and cards if you have any)your correspondence from your hospital and Obgyn and you should be fine.
Thank u Newmum15.

I appreciates.

thanks newmum15, I did sha, did not really see details on northside specifically, let me go thru again.

or can you or someone help with the page.

thanks
thanks newmum15 have search again and found information on Northside hospital.

what i plan was

1. To pay for the hospital bill and get receipt sent to my e-mail if possible so i can present at POE (but did nt get info on anyone who have done this or how they go about it)

2. To get a doctor appointment letter (that i have contacted an ob/gyn of atlanta, they ask me to fax my record, fax was difficult for me, i asked for an e-mail and have send them mail attaching my record, no response from them yet, send a reminder twice, no reply to my mail.

3. As for pediatrician, do i need to book them too.

4. Is a question, the gynecology fee, is it including the blood works, or u pay seperately for blood work r

5. Those that have giving birth, how do they dispose the placenta. just wondering.

I need to finish all these to get prepared for the POE as i have booked my flight already.

this are my worries though for now. pls need advice

thanks all.

My dear, we are fine and y'all? One of us here admonished me for bringing my native food to America when I could have bought them in the USA. She said stock fish is cheaper in Oakland than in Naija. I don't know if everyone is going to Oakland and if it was an offense for me to have brought my native food.

She also reminded me that it is no big deal after all her hostess cooks Nigerian food for her weekly.

Not everyone stays with hosts and hostesses. So nothing beats eating my native meal twice a day. I have also visited the so called African shop here in El Paso to buy Maggi, it's not everything you want you see. But they are trying sha! I'm so glad my mum bought our food in Naija jare and I encourage any mum coming to bring as much as you can carry.
