I birth northside hospital Atlanta too and I pay less than 3350 for both myself and my little girl and even got a refund of 1,000 plus. I spent 1 day cos I gave birth less than 30 min I got to the hospital, though virginal delivery. no complication, no CS, no epidural, just normal.

ify4charm:

No offense but you do know pple use this to extort money from their husbands. I did get a lil above the normal 3550. Don't know if it was because I used the nursery cos they dont tell you where the increase came from but I didn't reach 4000. Did your friend ve "serious" complications, coz that's the only justification for the kind of bill.

Thank you. Did you write it all in full or the last four digit.

I have fill it though, but I fill the whole numbers and am thinking if I did it right.

Amother4life:

It all depends on the post office. The one we used the guy told us point blank to wait until we received the SSN before he could accept our application. Thankfully it came two days later.

The cbp knew in ur 2weeks vacation, you'll visit d Hospital and u'll end up needing rest... That's why he intentionally reduced ur stay to 1 month so that after ur 2 Weeks or so, u will rest an extra 2 Weeks, rest on d plane back to Naija and continue the rest at home on ur bed......

But anyway good luck and keep us posted

Just like you, i also had a great time with my hosts. This is a family that consists of a grandma, son and grandchildren. I had never met them until i went to US to give birth. I was introduced to them by my brother's friend who happens to be the grandma's daughter. They made me feel home away from home. The hospital and the Dr i used were in another city that was like 1 hr drive from dre house. I was driven to n fro my Dr's appointment all through my 3 months stay with them. They never gave me attitude, whn i arrived their home, the uncle bought winter clothings for me and made me write a list of things i crave whenever they were going grocery shopping. When i had my baby, they organised a mini christening party for me(they r muslims while i am a xtian) and invited their friends that gave me loads of gifts and cash. I gave birth during the US tax refund thing and cos the uncle always change his children's wardrobe at this time, he also bought loads of clothes worth almost 1k dollars for my baby. He bought his carseat and even bought me too clothes. When i was coming back, i gave the grandma money but she rejected it and said she feels like i am paying her for hosting me. This is a woman that ll stay awake all night and cater for my baby while i sleep, she only wakes me when he needs to breastfeed. I lost my father while i was in the US and that whole family were there for me like they knew me from Adams. They needed to send some stuffs to naija which i was prepared to help them bring and pay for extra luggage but they followed me to the airport and didnt allow me pay, the uncle made the payment himself. I cant finishing saying all what i enjoyed. I just pray to God to help me to be able to repay this kindness to them. We have since become family friends and they keep telling me to bring my baby next year n spend time with them. I and my family speak with them regularly now. Sorry if i bore u with this heart pouring!

This is just like my story concerning my host they were just super nice. Infact they are God sent. Never know them from adams, they show me luv. I eat whatever I want to eat, take me for Dr appointment, lots of it. Did naming yesterday and they make arrangements for everthg. I also lost my dad while I was here, but they never let me fill lonely at all. I did not tell my husby I was in labour until I gave birth cos I was like being at home.

It's better to stay with a stranger than being with some family members. They will end up behaving as if they put rope on their neck before they accept your coming. If they can not host it'd better to say no that treating somebody's mother like a baby. I beg I no fit shout, na port go be the option in such situation.

I have to start reading back. A lot have happen .

From the host attitude to deliveries etc.

Congratulations to Olokings, Shawler, Gaggle and Bestnews. Thank God for save deliveries. God bless the children real good.

Though it's coming a little late, I had my baby on 24th discharge 25th. Baby and mama doing well. I thank God. The story for be i deliver for house as i plan to stay a little , i dont want to diaturb my host, it keep ringing in my ears that am not in nija ooo, make i respect my self. To cut the story shot, I was 8cm when I got to the hospital in less that 20min my LO push herself out even before the doctor surface . It was so fast. The experience with the hospital, d nurse and service in general was nice.

Wish other mum on the wait safe delivery.

Congratulations onyi15. Thk God for a successful POE.

As regard your baby while not call the doctor office and know their stance on you carrying ur baby along for appointment.

For me I went with my kids but hubby was arround with them. They have gone back. Subsequently I went alone. It's a little differ from your case.

Just call ur Dr office my own opinion sha.

Hello beautiful people, I got into the US on Sunday via JFK with my 3year old. POE was hassle free. I was asked my purpose and I told them vacation and childbirth. He asked how much I had on me and I told him.It was below $10000 so I wasn't to declare. All he said was congratulations and make sure you pay your bills. Sent to agriculture but my bag wasn't checked and I was free to go. Glory to God. Now waiting for my 1st appointment. Thanks a lot for all the help and info

[quote author=ewa2014 post=37445258]Thought to update the house on my documentation experience. What I learnt however is do NOT just accept whatever u r told and go to sleep while trying to get your baby's documents, almost everything can be expedited.

After I gave birth, I filled the BC form and Was under the impression that I would get it in a few days... Only to be told it would take btw a month to 6 weeks... I told them it's impossible that I needed it asap cos I have to process documents and go back to my country... I called the hospital everyday and they referred me to the county and I called them severally too, to cut the long story short, I got my BC in less than a week.

Next was Naija passport, filled d form n bought the money order, once I linked the money order to my application, I din't wait for innovates confirmation(which came 2 days later BTW), I called Naija embassy and was told to come with what I had, got there at 12noon and got the passport at 3pm. I dint tip anyone or pay

Wow. Good.

Pls u have to fill all of this on line for both passport before booking appointment? and pls the part of address, do u fill your US address or nija address.

Thks

They slammed me with a bill of $2150 undecided called to find out what they r charging me for.. They said blood work for the baby, circumcision $650. Bla bla bla...after much talking and screaming they gave 30% discount reducing it to $1450. But I'm still not gonna pay that cos the circumcision wasn't even done well. Upon the drawing they gave my son " corner kick prick".. cry

Sorry for dat my sister. High bill on top of it na corner kick dem give am.

U make me laf and cry at the same time. I thk it's best coming home to do this thg than take changes over their with their expensive bill and not doing it well.

Is not that they are perfect like that too back home ooo, but the chances of not doing it well is low.

My story continues. Wore my compressor sock from doha to houston and it help a lot, no swelling at all anyway with a very active 3 year old that visit the loo every now and then an I had lots of exercise. As the journey drew to any end I felt more tired so I told my husband am asking for a wheel chair once we get to houston. Note I did not use any thru out my journey or even included it in my ticket reservation so as we landed I told one of the attendant that I need a wheel chair. One was arranged for me and off we go. Abeg wheel chair good o. The airport was crowded.
Na special treatment for wheelchair o.
Wheeled to the shortest line with my husband and daughter following. When it our turn at the CBP this ensures

Officer : hello
Hubby: hello
Officer: can I have your passports
Hubby: gave her with the form filled on the plane.
Officer: how is your daughter name pronounced
Hubby: it is this but you can call her this for short.
Officer : oh ok, tired out calling her name.
What are you here for?
Hubby : vacation and childbirth
Officer: have you been in the us before
Hubby: no our first time.
Officer: how much do you have with you?
Hubby: $4K and the rest is in our card.
Officer : what do you do?
Hubby: told her.
Officer: and you?
Me: told her.
Officer: so why do you want to have you baby here?
Me: better health care
Hubby: America has the best health care in the world( that one na statistics)
Officer : oh yeah
Do you come with any food items.
Me: yes, nigerian foods, like egusi, ogbono etc.
Officer: any plant, seeds, palm oil
Me: no, no( any food she mention, I just dey shake my head say no).
Officer: do have a nice stay.
She return our passport with 6 month stamp i.e to Jan. Passport go expire in dec.
No secondary inspection, the wheelchair lady also helped with our luggage and na so she push me thru to exit o.

Now resting. And planning on fixing my appointment today.

Wow. Congratulations
