The problem with some of you is your assumption that anyone objectively viewing this miasma through the lens of reality is comparing the US and Iran on an equal footing. The US is undoubtedly the strongest country militarily and economically in the world, and no one else comes close.

In any all-out war, the US can decimate Iran or whoever they wish. But one thing with the political reality is that the US would almost certainly never engage in an all-out war, because their strength also bears the burden of their inherent weakness: their economy.

Once consumers panic and stop spending during war time, and their stock markets crash, the inflation they've been suppressing will come up. Once Japan, GCC, china and co ditch us Treasury bills and bonds, there goes the power of the dollar and with it the means of maintaining their economic might. Do you know how much it costs per hour to maintain a carrier strike group? $300,000. Do you know the cost of flying a single F35 for an hour? $46,000. Do you know the cost of a single tomahawk cruise missile? $2.5 million.

The US war doctrine is not like Russia's all-out war. The US is strategic warfare. But that that kind of warfare requires MQ-class drones, forward operating bases, radars, sigint infrastructure: basically all the advantages Iran took out across the middle east, things that'd take hundreds of billions and decades to rebuild, and still be under threat of hypersonic missiles. That's one, among many, of the reasons the US lost the strategic advantage and had to call for a truce. That, and the rapidly dwindling strategic petroleum reserve which has reached dangerously low levels because of the Hormuz equation (a strategic action by Iran).

So looking at things objectively and NOT emotionally, you'll see US lost nothing permanent durring the war except the 13 soldiers killed. They lost some money but they have excess money, and the lessons they gained are worth more than the money, plus they made a lot of money exporting oil. Gulf States will now contribute immensely to their own defense and will be made Iran-proof. Hormuz and Hormuz-like terrorist attacks will now be taken into account in any war with a country like Iran. You can be sure the next US president that attacks Iran will not have those problems.

Also, after these mid-term elections Trump will have no more elections so can reneg on anything he wishes, while on the other hand most of Iran's losses are permanent!
