You don't know what this talk is about.
I'm obviously not just talking pronunciation. Language is by usage in all ramifications. Whatever the vast majority of people mean by a word, becomes it's meaning in that location, and their dictionary will shortly update to reflect that

Ha ha ha. But I am a man.
Thank you anyway. You are another one here who fully saw the many good reasons why president Tinubu quickly went for dumping of that bloody and continuous call to war National anthem of military dictators.
Well, on Nairaland we use man and woman interchangeably. Some monikers are male in the morning and by evening they become female grin

Not only is that other anthem bad, the "hail thee"anthem is GENIUS - the best anthem in the world in my opinion

What I find interesting is that both Kperogi and Reno are helping to define "tribe" and "native" in their proper context.

And this reminds me of what I wrote on my blog sometime ago.

Most of things we say in English, we don't really know the meaning in the native speakers context. Because only the owner of a language can have an organic experience with meaning in that language. No matter how much you speak the English language, you cannot have an organic experience with meaning. You have to be literally mad to have an organic experience with the English language, i e your brain chemistry would have to work differently than a normal African.

Certainly, white people have damaged something in our brains on the African continent. This has to be the reason why such an irrational thing as reversing to a colonial anthem would be passed as law. But I am trying to figure out whether this damage has been before the whites arrived.

Only a brain-dead people can throw away a national anthem written by themselves in exchange for one written by a foreigner.
You are talking ignorant nonsense. Language is by usage. Hence in America they pronounce schedule as skejule, while the English pronounce it as shejule. Non is more correct. Old English became old English entirely due to usage - people simply stopped talking that way!

It is actually an EXCELLENT anthem. Best in the world in my opinion. Great anthem indeed. Here it is:

Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, and proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

One good thing from BAT

colonially created national anthem whose first stanza drips wet with the spit of racist condescension, gender exclusion, and stodgy, ungainly archaisms. --- Kperogi.

An Anthem of northern military dictators with stanza like the labor of our heroes past; heroes including Muritalla Mohammed, the murderer of Asaba, the Anthem is a most repulsive National Anthem any country can get.
No mind the mumu

1) I shouldn't have to Google to know what my anthem means
Then you are not literate enough for this argument. "Hail and Compatriots" are not everyday vocabulary. Your biased mind again at work

2) You are the one who started it by linking the civil war to an anthem
I didn't link it to an anthem, it was a response to a common by an APCist before you jumped into the conversation without full grasp of the discussion

3) Which heroes past?? So anthems are where "heroes past" are honored
You are now sound like someone with low IQ, "Labour of hero past motivates you to match and surpass their feat. Its like have yardstick or guidelines to succeed. It has nothing to do with honouring. People, athletes, Countries have great mentors like that dead or alive

4) Glad you realise it's a valid point. Try to realize others are valid too
Like I said, when you goof, I will tell you. A typical BATist will go at any length to defend stupidity...you ain't different from them

As for being BATist, check my previous posts
1) Are you ok?? That's the whole point - an anthem should be easily understood by common folk, and ideally, it should start with the country's name

2) Doesn't matter. You linked, and in response I also linked.

3) Could you please name these "heroes past" so we see who are these that ought be in our anthem

4) Well, you praised me. I'll also praise you when you
finally say one thing reasonable cheesy

BTW, the speed with which this EXTREMELY difficult bill passed proves NASS is truly Tinubu’s rubber stamp.
In US, UK, etc, such a bill will be IMPOSSIBLE to pass

Last month, Yoruba nation agitators tried nonsense in Ibadan. The Governor of Oyo did not wait for any Federal Government. He used Oyo State's authority to arrest the perpetrators within hours of the incident. The very next day, Governor Seyi Makinde destroyed their houses. On the third day, they were in court. Today, they are in prison. That is a Governor! Not this one that watches and does nothing while a separatist group causes killings, mayhem and chaos in his state. And this is the man Peter Obi, and Oby Ezekwesili praised as the best Governor!
Are there UGM in that state? How many people, policemen,, soldiers, have they killed? How many houses, businesses, police stations, govt buildings, fuel stations, etc have they destroyed?

First of all I'm neither an APCist nor a BAPTIST.

1) One anthem is "Arise o Compatriots " (I don't know what is compatriots nor do I know what they talking about). The other one is "Nigeria we hail thee". 'Nough
said.

If you don't know the meaning of compatriots, Google it. That's a bias statement to make

2) And we survived the Civil War intact, then a period of unprecedented boom till the anthem was changed!
Another biased submission, linking the state of the economy to change in anthem. Now, that the old anthem is back, is N1 now $1

3) In tough times the importance of an uplifting, very positive, unifying mantra cannot be overestimated
And "Arise o Compatriots is not uplifting "? Another biased opinion, "The Labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain" is more than motivating and uplifting

4) That concerns what's good for our economy and our foreign reserve. In all other things nothing beats merit.
This anthem was chosen by NIGERIANS after a WORLD-WIDE competition - and it shows. Best anthem in the world
This is the only valid point you raised but then you still link it to "good economy and foreign reserved"

NB: Most APCIST always always start their reply to acquisition with the phrase "I AM NEITHER a BATist nor an APCist
1) I shouldn't have to Google to know what my anthem means

2) You are the one who started it by linking the civil war to an anthem

It's not true. If you check out your fellow age mate that is white, they look too matured. The worst effect is on their women.
Them no dey argue that one, Africans are blessed. The most beautiful combination of races are usually blacks mix with any other races.
If our leaders were doing the right things, blacks won't be slaving for the whites.
You need to get closer to them to see their skin texture, you go just pity them.
Yet all the ads of people looking younger than their age are white. See this guy below, 57 years.
Yes, the sun ages the skin and darker people produce melanine which protects them from the sun
But a white person who avoids the sun will look young
