Who no go no go see, I have a friend in his 60s now that works in old people's home,this guy swear that he will never spend a day there when he is weak and I use to pass one in my former neighbourhood, you need to see the frustration in their faces.

Technically they ain't hedging anything unless they are able to withdraw the foreign currency from their form acct, last time I tried it wasn't possible unless the rules have changed but you still have to spend naira in naija and it's still subject to inflation. Life last last na garbage in garbage out. Their is a price for every thing wether you are abroad or home base just choose your poison.

Last time I checked,inflation is hitting the whole world wholeheartedly. Last 2month nobody see ordinary groundnut oil 4 Europe use fry ordinary egg. The difference in Exchange rate doesn't benefit anyone in naija because we import virtually everything so in other words the money is subject to a higher inflation back home.

Why hold people down and prevent them from enjoying their lives? The care home is an organised place for aged people. Professionals engage them with various activities alongside regular visit from family members.

Is it better that the life of the last born is put on old because the parents are old and need attention? Which is what happens most times in Nigeria. Someone will continue to worry and not enjoy his/her own life.

That’s what they runaway from when they are abroad but is it fair? I don’t think so.

That system doesn't work anymore and no one is subscribing to it. The truth is that if your formative and youthful period was in Nigeria, you will never feel at home elsewhere in the future. That's your root.

I left Nigeria in 1986. I retired back to Nigeria in 2019. Single and with an American citizenship and pension. Could pretty much live anywhere in the world but it’s only specifically Ibadan for me.

Why?

It’s the place of my youth and a familiar place ground where I can hang my hat while I traverse the world checking off my bucket list.

If you don’t have to work/make money then Nigeria is okay. I do run and some soft companies though.

To the retirees still abroad, come home. To the young bucks get out as soon as you can.

People return home majorly for 2 reasons
1. Their pension is enough to spend in Nigeria enjoyable. They can afford to hire driver, cleaner, security etc which they can’t abroad with same pension.

2. Nobody get their time. Even their own son will dump them in care home because he wants enjoy his life. Oyinbo don’t live communal life. Everyman is on his own.

Communal life that will keep them active and enough bar to spend

America, Europe, Japan and some other countries in the world have committed so many atrocities against other humans be it in Africa, Asia and other parts of the world without listening to the voice of reasoning.
