Vivly: If you say so, then why are the contestants indicating their stance? Shouldn't an essay include both the pros and cons?
Vivly: Exactly! Don't you think we are to take sides for the debate proper. This is an essay, not a debate
^^^^ my belief actually..
But then,he's the organizer..

Strike: a wrong approach to Nigeria's educational problems..
Against..
EducationRe: Nairaland Annual Educational Debate Competition(planning thread) by quivah(f): 12:28pm On Oct 16, 2013
Fynestboi: yap you are to take sides.....
if so,then we aint writing the essay based on the direct question as you'v earlier said..
EducationRe: Nairaland Annual Educational Debate Competition(planning thread) by quivah(f):
few questions....

-Are the interested debaters dropping the essays here? Or a new thread will be created for that?

-The essays, are the debaters going to write the cons/pros of the particular topic they chose or the essay will contain both the cons and pros??
For instance, quivah wants to write on the first topic(strike: a wrong approach to Nigeria's educational problems)
Im I expected to include both the pros and cons in the essay? Or if its the cons im going for, then its should just be the cons of the particular topic im to write the essay about..hope you get me.?

By the way: Im in for the opposition of the topic; . ."strike: a wrong approach to nigeria's educational problems?
Nairaland GeneralRe: .......ways To Improve Nairaland. by quivah(op): 11:53am On Oct 16, 2013
KingMEXX: Thats why I opened a thread demanding for a Nairaland App. the live chat thing would be so easier using the app. Seun said we should give him some time, still waiting

The change of moniker would not be easy and cool cos what would happen to yur posts which have been quoted?? Would it be like BBM where users abuse it? Just like the deactivation ish that peeps abused, Seun may not be so keen on putting this one.
yeeeah!! The NL app will be perfect...that's nairaland on the go!

As for the moniker thingy, the quoted posts can just stay the same...
After a while, people will get used to it..
I know it will be a bit hard...
EducationRe: Nairaland Annual Educational Debate Competition(planning thread) by quivah(f): 9:00am On Oct 16, 2013
Fynestboi: 7 and 8 can be debate rememba not only educational topics can be debate....
err
Ok, still the last two topics should come from the leading topics as at now..
You and the judges can get on with that.
#my opinion
EducationRe: Nairaland Annual Educational Debate Competition(planning thread) by quivah(f): 8:48am On Oct 16, 2013
I think its rather late to start again...
But I suggest, the op and the judges should choose between the already leading topics(we need people's interests as well)..

You can get the two topics out of the topics with more votes, while you drop the rest..
I.e,10,21,13 are taking the lead..(just an observation)
The two needed topics should come out of this!!
I can't imagine my self debating on " 7 and 8" here in an education section..
TV/MoviesRe: Are Reality TV Shows/Competitions Of Any Benefit To Us? by quivah(f): 8:30am On Oct 16, 2013
I particularly,love THE DEBATERS...
Interesting,educative.. it has really improved my debating skills(the introductions mostly) and enhanced my speech..also my use of words..

No more: goodday mr chairman, panel of judges, accurate time time keeper blah blah secondary school style!!

Im sure it has helped/helping other "ready to learn" students as well..thus,improving 0.001% of the society.
Especially, the part where each debaters go for research on some particular topics... meet profs learning new things(mostly for public use).
Stage use, boldness menh!! I bet this competition deos not only help students for advanced debating skills...lawyers to be,a speaker in any gathering..are also helped in their use of words!

I love Oluwatoyinbo days...

African Zain competition is also a plus..

Others(project fame,BBA,GUS are just for entertainments)...
.

Nairaland General.......ways To Improve Nairaland... To SEUN by quivah(op): 6:59pm On Oct 15, 2013

This is just quivah's opinion, not a demand or an order!..
But if critically looked into and considered, hopefully Nairaland will be convenient and more enjoyable..

- I saw the "liked" notification, with a smile I clicked on it to see which post of mine was liked..cool! But wouldn't it be more interesting if one could see who liked such post/s?...
With this,I think Seun should create an avenue where we get to see who liked our post/s.. I know its tasking, especially when your particular post was liked by 10--40 ---hundreds nairalanders...
But if a new 'engine' (who liked your post)can be made,it'd be easier..im also not saying, the already "liked" notification that comes up whenever a particular post is liked should be brought down(no I still would love to see my post that caught someone's interest). Its Just an extra "engine"..to show who and who liked my post.

- ok,I really dont know why its different here...
I wanna change my moniker but had to wait for days/weeks to get my request to Seun successfully. Not only that, I had to convinced him with genuine reasons as to why I need a change of username(its harder than you think) especially when I had to beg a mod to pass my request to him!..
I don't know why it is so,I mean why should Seun be the only one to solve this?
I THINK, its suppose to be a personal job..
Like,i should go to my profile and change my current moniker to whichever new one I want!
Thank God tho,we dont have to wait for Seun before we can change the signatures..
Seriously, the change of moniker should be one of the easiest things to do. I don't know how much grateful i'd be if I can get to change my username as many times as I want(or better, 5 change of monikers trials)by myself without waiting for Seun to do the work for me.

(Don't know why it is so here...maybe an explanation will do but still let me be able to change my username myself and at a convenient time..
And not too many chances by the way, a 3 or 5-time trial will be so perfect)

- yeah!! The email messages is cool but it can be very very boring(really?) I mean, tiring!
What could be more fun if one can get to do a live chat with other nairalanders without visiting some other sites?!
As in, let me be able to see my online fellowers and have a smooth chat with them right here on NL..then other offline messages can go to the mails..
I should be able to see the numbers of my fellowers who are currently online. Not only that,i should be able to connect with them directly(just like facebook chatcheesy)..

These are just few suggestions from quivah, with one and two of the above quite important!(im sure I ain't the only one who would appreciate these changes)

I must say, I love this topic "CORRUPTION IS BETTER COMPARED TO ARMED ROBBERY IN NIGERIA"

#nice... I vote for this topic as well..
EducationRe: Nairaland Annual Educational Debate Competition(planning thread) by quivah(f): 5:41pm On Oct 15, 2013

If not too late,I suggest this as a topic;
Nigerian students should learn french.

And out of the suggested topics,
I choose:
"should Post Utme examination be conducted in Nigeria Universities?"
And

"University education should be free"

ermmm read my post again!
I dint say poisons don't expire..#aside my first paragraph which clearly was a joke..
