Ironsi only tried to help himself and Igbos by creating the unitary system after killing other regional leaders, thinking he and his ethnic group could then dominate. Without federalism and with the discovery of oil that brought about the curse of the black gold, the North was prospering with its agricultural resources and Kano was already a commercial hub in Sub-saharan Africa (do your research), so you can only deceive yourself with your petty revisionism.

A return to federalism would actually be a huge blessing to the North. You can already see our developmental strides in infrastructure. Even Peteru acknowledges our agricultural potentials. Lithium factories are springing up in Kaduna etc. so an opportunity to develop our potentials, leverage on our regional comparative advantages and stop relying on lazy oil money.

With or without oil or federalism, the North will remain relevant and dominant alongside the west with its own prowess, and that’s why we’re joining hands to elect Tinubu.
