Politics › Re: Fuel Crisis: 5 Reasons Why Buhari Cannot Stop Fuel Importation by r33d(m): 6:36pm On May 27, 2015 |
Wildrage: The major factor militating against local refining is the subsidy regime. If we had done the needful a long time ago instead of adamantly refusing to yield to better reasons , by now a lot of private investors would have taken the risk of investing in the sector. For so long as we refuse to accept the reality, so long will our refineries would remain moribund. We need to sell off the existing refineries as scrap, putting more money into fixing them would continue to be a wasteful exercise with no appreciable economic benefit. Right now, we spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on turnaround maintenance with no commensurate benefit. Kaduna refinery has never fully worked for one whole month after every maintenance. Those Alhajis intent on making money from bridging always find a way of blowing up the refurbished engines, the nefarious activities of pipeline vandals is another major challenge. Govt should hand off refinery, remove subsidy, encourage private investors with good incentives and with time we'd all begin to enjoy the benefits Your explanation is a treasure. |

Only an irresponsible government will not see a need to stop the importation of refined petroleum products in Nigeria. It is enough problem not to have drinkable water as at when due and to grapple in the dark due to erratic electricity. |

It is a situation many people can relate to especially, students. However, I also add that the home can make or mar a student. It is very difficult for a child or student who is not been cared for at home, to excel in academics. The support a person gets from the immediate family can really go a long way in his or her life. |

sparkleboy: Booked
GEJ should have removed this subsidy on Pms completely then and spent the SURE-p fund on building or repairing new refineries that should have been handed over to private companies to handle and manage. We wouldn't have been in this mess if such had been done but the wicked cabals that are enjoying the deep corruption in that sector would not allow such. People like Wale Tinubu, ifeanyi uba, pres obasanjo, otedola, rahamaniyya oil, These people enjoy the loot from under supplying and been overpaid. If you see the deep corruption that goes on in the Pms supply chain You'll be scared for Nigeria.
Most of them import the cheapest fuel, and over value their oil, A lot of the so called subsidised oils are refined in the refineries owned by our former leaders and business moguls in Trinidad and tobago, guinea, etc. a lot of the subsidised fuel ends up in neighbouring African countries such as TOGO, BENIN, GHANA ETC,
SOLUTION BUHARI SHOULD CANCEL PAYMENT OF SUBSIDY AND REVAMP OUR REFINERIES AND GIVE IT TO A PRIVATE COMPANY TO MANAGE. The government is subsidising corruption. |

ogawisdom: This is y politics is a do or die affair in Nigeria
This is d first thing I expect buhari to do ie cut down d salary of political office holders by 80 percent n the office will become less financially attractive. A salary of 2m per month to include all allowances shld b a good start
Furthermore having a bicarmel national assembly is a big waste. D house of reps shld b closed n only senators allowed to make laws Yes sir, Bi-cameral legislature wastes resources. It also causes unnecessary delays in the law making process. I, however, doubt if the president-elect can influence change or a downward review of all remuneration of the law makers. |

Blackett: This thread confirms you are a baby, and that you haven't been in a relationship.
Now listen.
In life, not everything happens as planned. What will be will be. If a man or woman is fed up of a relationship, they are fed up. They may only remain out of pity. If you like, make these points 20, a girl that has fallen in love with someone else will break up with you. Personal happiness comes before anyone else, yes, even whoever it is that you are in a relationship with. If I'm not happy in a relationship, you cannot be happy. If a lady is not happy and is tired of a relationship, give her all the money in the world, tell her everything you want to, she will leave.
Life is not a one way street where you think these _stupid points can correct everything or anything. The key to relationships is doing all you can, while accepting that in life, plans can change and you have to adjust and move on. . . Only kids use the words "magic words". Magic words simply do not exist. What works for one person doesn't work for the other.
When a person decides they no longer need you in their life, let them be. If it was meant to be, it'll be.
Getting tired of these dumbass lists. I agree and will quickly add that, a good relationship is built on the sacrifices that the parties make. You cannot have it your way all the time and it may not be all rosy all the time but, with mutual understanding, everything will go on smoothly. |
