NO! NO!! NO!!! OVER HIS DEATH BODY. |
Professor Haruna Kaita of the faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, yesterday cried out over what he described as incessant harassments by security agencies. Professor Kaita said just when he was struggling to overcome his recent quizzing by the State Security Service (SSS) in Kaduna, he received another letter of invitation from the Kaduna Statecommissioner of police. “I am presently on research tour, but ABU’s security coordinator has told me that he is in a receipt of a letter from the state’s commissioner of police inviting me to his office. No harassment can make me to change my stance on the polio vaccine being administered on our innocent children, because I have conducted several researches and found the vaccine to be harmful. Science does not require intimidation before somebody can be proved wrong or right. I have been asking them to come forward so that we can publically sit with the proponents of the vaccine. All thanks are to Allah, I am a professor of science and I am ready to face anyone that can discredit my research, period”, he said. He added, “ the commissioner of police or director of SSS may not be scientists, but they can bring their scientists so that we can sit with them. I think that would give them the opportunity to discredit my claims, but resorting to harassment shows that they have a hidden agenda”. Attempts to get the response of the Kaduna State commissioner of police were abortive as he did not reply the text message sent to him. The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Aminu Lawal, said he was not aware of the invitation letter. A source however told our correspondent that the invitation letter was addressed to ABU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha, who forwarded it to Professor Kaita through ABU’s security coordinator. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/news-news/54002-anti-polio-vaccine-professor-alleges-harassment |
The Plateau State government yesterday banned brothels operation and directed operators to immediately close them. ``All operators of such brothels have been directed to immediately close down or face full wrath of the law,’’ Mr Abraham Yiljap, the state Commissioner for Information, said in Jos. Yiljap, who spoke after the weekly State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Jonah Jang, said government had never endorsed the operations of the brothels. He stressed that revenue officers had always been cautioned against visiting such areas to source revenue, describing brothels as ``detrimental’’ to the spiritual well being of the Plateau people. |
A 40-year-old-man has been arrested by men of Ogun Police Command for allegedly hiring two men to rape his two younger sisters in Ijebu-Ososa in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state. The suspect was said to have been arrested with the two allegedly paid rapists after they had raped and robbed the two ladies who are 16 and 18 years. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this yesterday, adding that the suspect paid the two alleged rapists N80,000 before they committed the act. He said: “The two other persons arrested with the 40-year-old man are those who eventually raped and robbed the two sisters aged 18 and 16 years. “He gave the two suspects N80,000 to harass, molest and threaten his sisters who had disagreed with him over sharing formula of their late parent’s inheritance. “You can speak with him as he had already confessed to the crime. So it’s a very straight forward case and we are charging three of them to court tomorrow.“ In his reaction, the suspect said it was true that he hired two persons to deal with his two sisters over their parents’ inheritances. He said: “I just asked them to threaten my sisters so that they can leave the property for me. I never paid then to rape my sisters as they have done.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/man-unleashes-rapists-on-sisters-over-inheritance/ |
OK, why not do it the BIAFRAN way instead of waiting for boko haram do it for you? By the way, is the Bishop not from the minorities as you called them? Al_Qaadir: If we can't defeat them as you said we go our different ways because the northern minorities has woken up now |
Some Nairalanders are so biased to the extent that they refused to understand the meaning of amnesty. How on earth will somebody be interpreting it to mean dashing out money to warlords like Dokubo? If the UK, with its complex defence and security system could not defeat IRA, but had to dialogue with them at the end, I wonder how Nigerian security agencies can defeat Boko Haram. |
Mods, I think this topic is front page material. Thank you. |
Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Sokoto Mattnew Hassan Kukah has called on the federal government to grant amnesty to Boko Haram religious sect. In his Easter message entitled Amnesty, Repentance, Forgiveness and Reconciliation, the bishop maintained that to reject amnesty for the sect is to be at the same level with them. He argued that their destruction on the nation is not near the devastation of apartheid in South Africa; yet, under President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu had to offer amnesty to allow for reconciliation process. Kukah said, “To paraphrase the Yoruba adage, the hand that gives amnesty is on top of the hand that receives. “An offer of amnesty is not the same as a declaration of amnesty. “An offer of amnesty brings the penitent to the table as a first step. “Amnesty is a process not a destination. The offer of Amnesty will not solve all our problems, but it will bring us closer to a new dawn.” He regretted that the amnesty issue has been turned into a political football and has drained it of its moral content. He noted that no matter the crimes committed by members of Boko Haram, those of them who are Nigerians have not lost their membership of the community. “Naturally, the demagogues have continued to apply extremist language, arguing more from the stomach than the head and thus generating more heat than light. “Rather than look at the issues of amnesty in the light of the past, present and future of the nation, we have focused more on how they fit the survivalist instincts of the president and his ruling party. “As usual, selfish interests overtake national interests and survival,” the bishop lamented. Kukah said it will be a terrible mistake to think that the moral convictions of a leader should have no bearing on public policy. “A leader should approach public policy with the sense of his conviction as long as these are in keeping with the rules of engagement, namely the constitution and his conscience. “I believe that the president ventured into this debate too early without enough homework and allowing the systems to exhaust the options.” He observed that the processes of how an amnesty can be achieved are complex and they are a science of sorts. “He posited that no one receives amnesty for nothing without surrendering something in return: renouncing their moral perfidy. “A sense of remorse, an assurance that one will get a hearing, that a prodigal son might even be considered for the role of a servant by a benevolent father.” According to him, “the word amnesty found its way from Greek through Latin to public use in the 16h century. “The focus of its usage has tended to be more in the political realm especially in relation to ending belligerence by rebels and combatants or political prisoners or other forms of criminality.” http://www.sundaytrust.com.ng/index.php/news/12582-kukah-calls-for-amnesty-for-boko-haram |
It was gory sight yesterday in Mgboshiminu community in Obio/Akpor Local Government of Rivers State as Charity Ovudah, 36, allegedly stabbed her husband to death after first poisoning his food. The alleged murder said to have taken place in the night before was reportedly provoked by the deceased, Peter Ovudah’s attempt to bring a second wife into the matrimonial home he had shared with the alleged killer. A family source said the decease had already concluded plans to bring the new wife, who was pregnant, into the family houset before Charity’s fatal reaction. Mrs. Igbokwe Onyeka, a neighbour to the Ovudahs revealed that; “The family had been quarreling over the issue of a second wife but no one anticipated that Charity would be so angered killed her husband. A 19-year-old housemaid to the Ovudahs, who gave her name as simply Loveth said she witnessed how Ovudah died, saying she first noticed that Charity added something to her husband’s food that fateful night. she said: “I was the one who served the food for my aunt’s husband but my aunt added something that looked like salt and mixed it together. “So when Oga came back and started eating I was monitoring him. After about 30 minutes he started behaving strange and fell off the dining chair, rolling on the floor and shouting for help. “That was when my aunt came and stabbed him till he gave up”, she said. The suspected killer was said to have disappeared the moment the housemaid alerted neighbours of her action, but the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the BraithwaiteMemorialHospital mortuary in Port Harcourt. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/wife-poisons-stabs-husband-to-death-over-second-wife/ |

Na so life be. The way you follow go reach the top of a tree na the same way you go follow come down. The man got there as a result of someone's death so it is natural if he left there as a result of death. And so shall it be with the other one. Just wait for the time, it could be very soon. |

Alhamdu lilLah. It's Ramadan. Thanks to all Muslims Nairalanders that contributed to this thread. May Allah give us the zeal and the power to do what He likes in this month and beyond and may He accept all our ibadat. We are gretful to Allah for guiding us. We wouldn't have been guided if not for His guidance. |
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. (Quran 2:185). |
