Would u want to start from the grassroots or for the average woman 
Grassroots wud involve lots of manpower though.Providing counseling abt contraceptives,nutrition and child spacing.Information on how to deal with most of the prevalent child killer diseases,providing and encouraging vaccines and inoculations . . .the free ones provided by govt hardly gets to the rural areas.
For young children,you can also consider opening a children drop-in center where talents wud be nurtured and encouraged etc.

I don't know how it is in the UK, out here in the States you can always try to solicit funds from big companies because the get huge Tax right-offs for charity donations. If it's like that in the UK then get your walking shoes ready and hit the pavement.

I'll solicit funds from Nairalanders , friends and family and other avenues-companies, adverts on a few websites and basically raise awareness of the needs of young children and pregnant women in Nigeria on Facebook.

Enugu state enjoys free mother/child care uptil 5years. National Primary health also thrives in the state and I know it gets to the villages.
