@The court heard that between 2003 and 2009 Agwuegbo fraudulently claimed £21,000 a year tax credits by stating her income was between £8,000 and £9,000 per year, but HMRC investigations proved her actual annual income was in excess of £50,000. In addition, she failed to declare her true income for income tax purposes and ran an unlicensed money lending business with Anyakudo. He would arrange loans for people charging them high interest rates on short term loans and Agwuegbo provided the funds. Agwuegbo used some of the proceeds of the crimes to purchase properties in South East London, four of which she bought in 2006. She rented these properties out and failed to declare this additional income. It is believed her properties are worth approximately £1m. Both were arrested on 27 April 2009 and charged on 1 March 2010. Cosmas Anyakudo pleaded guilty to the charges on 06 August 2010 and Joy Agwuegbo pleaded guilty on 16 May 2011. Confiscation proceedings are taking place. |
@igboboy There is a Yoruba saying that we don't ask a kid not to stop dreaming or hoping to have leprosy but me must remind the kid of the consequences of living isolated life in the bush You need to go to the nearest local library and get some history books to read about your people and what happened to them this ll enable you to think and respect other good tribes in Nigeria. l Have nothing against Good lBO PEOPLE BUT THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE FORGOTTEN History so soon must be cautioned. The remnants of the agonies suffered in the past must remain fresh in your memories.lf you cant get books ask your uncles who may still be alive. |

At 2pm on Friday 22nd July, one hour and 26 minutes before the bomb was detonated next door to the prime minister’s offices, Anders Behring Breivik sent his manifesto to 1003 recipients around the continent, reports the Daily Telegraph. The British police gained access to 250 of these contacts and confirmed they are UK residents. The attacker wrote in his e-mails a specific message for the recipients: “This is a gift for you (…) I ask you to distribute this book (the manifesto) to everyone you know” and signed the email with the name Andrew Berwick. Also, the e-mail contained a link to a Youtube video in which Brevik was shown holding a gun. The manifesto proves that last Friday’s attacks had been planned years ago. In March, the Norwegian attacker sent a message to the anti-Islamic English Defence League: “In these dark times all of Europe are looking to you in search of inspiration, courage and even hope that we might turn this evil trend with Islamisation all across our continent. Well, just wanted to say keep up the good work, it’s good to see others that care about their country and heritage.” Geir Lippestad, Breivik’s defence lawyer, said: “There are two more cells in Norway and others from the Western world” prepared to follow Breivik’s example. Moreover, several supporters of the EDL admitted they met Breivik at rallies in Britain and the attacker even confessed he had over 600 EDL members among his Facebook contacts. Mario Borghezio’s, part of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group in the European Parliament, made comments that provoked instant outrage across the world: “One hundred per cent of Breivik’s ideas are good, in some cases extremely good. The positions of Breivik reflect the views of those movements across Europe which are winning elections.” |
Lets put the facts right some Yorubas do it but Yanmiris-the other name for lBOs -are professionals anytime, anyday.Na their major business. A Nigerian travelling with 67 "drug capsules" in his stomach died due to certain complications on board a flight, which had to make an emergency landing at the city airport on Thursday. The Doha-Kuala Lumpur flight requested an emergency landing after the deceased, Chika Imaneal (26), started vomiting and fell unconscious. Medical experts at the airport declared Chika dead on arrival. The airport authority informed the Sahar police about the death, who have registered acase of "accidental death". |

Greedy’ London fraudster jailed for three years 25 July 2011 16:17 A London woman has been jailed for a total of three years for tax evasion, tax credit fraud and money laundering offences following an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the Metropolitan Police. Investigators discovered that Joy Agwuegbo failed to declare £167,000 received from renting out five properties in South East London and that she fraudulently claimed £101,000 in tax credits. Agwuegbo also ran an illegal money lending business with Cosmas Anyakudo, committing money laundering offences in excess of £800,000. Cosmas Anyakudo was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment, suspended for two years. He was given a twelve month supervision order and must carry out 160 hours of community work. Graham Ranson, Assistant Director, Criminal Investigation for HMRC said: “HMRC’s Criminal Taxes Unit worked with Newham CID to investigate and successfully prosecute Agwuegbo and Anyakudo. We will now look to reclaim the proceeds of their criminal activities. HMRC is cracking down on fraud and the Government has made a further £900 million available to us to tackle evasion, avoidance and attacks by criminals. I urge anyone with information relating to this type of crime to call the Tax Evasion Hotline on 0800 788 887 or via the website www.hmrc.gov.uk/tax-evasion.” Upon sentencing, Her Honour Judge Wright said that Agwuegbo was ‘greedy and told lies over many years’. Background The court heard that between 2003 and 2009 Agwuegbo fraudulently claimed £21,000 a year tax credits by stating her income was between £8,000 and £9,000 per year, but HMRC investigations proved her actual annual income was in excess of £50,000. Notes to editors 1. Joy (also known as Joyce) Nonye Agwuegbo (48) a former nurse, and Cosmas Anyakudo (43) a former solicitor, were sentenced on Friday 22 July 2011 at Inner London Crown Court after pleading guilty to fraud and money laundering offences. 2. Joy Nonye Agwuegbo, DOB 27/07/1962 of 13 Benhill Road, Camberwell, London SE5 pleaded guilty to tax credit fraud, tax evasion, money laundering and fraud offences. She was sentenced to three years for tax credit fraud, 18 months for income tax evasion and 18 months for money laundering. All counts will run concurrently, meaning a total jail term of three years. 3. Cosmas Anyakudo, DOB 07/04/1968, of 4 Ashley Gardens, Blue Bell Hill, Chatham, Kent, pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud offences. He was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for two years. 4. We would encourage anyone with information relating to this type of crime to call Tax Evasion hotline by calling 0800 788 887 or via the website www.hmrc.gov.uk/tax-evasion. 5.
