You work in the cement sector but it doesn't mean you understand history, economics and public policy at all. That is why you're supporting this move by Dangote.

Dangote cement started as a monopoly, thanks to frivolous and corrupt court judgement and politicians. A market where 3 producers are colluding and control 99% of the market is a monopoly (oligopoly if you want to sound politically correct but stupid). This is why in Nigeria cement was N2000 in 2015 but in 2024 cement is over N12000, over 500% increase meanwhile in India cement was 224 rupees in 2015 and around 400 rupees in 2024, less than 100% increase.

What is the cause of 500% price increase in Nigeria vs less than 100% price increase in India over a 9 years period? Monopoly, colluding, corruption?

It's because of the monopoly and favourable treatment Dangote is always getting from corrupt Nigerian government and politicians that people with serious money don't want to establish their own companies to compete with Dangote. If you know what monopolist do to destroy competition, you will hide your head in shame for supporting Dangote.

Nigeria has abundance of materials used to produce cement yet Dangote will wake up and unilaterally hike price 100%, 200%, 300% and there's nothing you can do because the rest mushroom producers will do same cos they're in the same WhatsApp group and foolish citizens will come online to support Dangote.

Meanwhile when their landlord increase house rent they start crying.

Now Dangote is repeating same dirty tactics for pms and you're here supporting him.

But when you start queuing to buy fuel for 2500-5000; when price of foodstuffs tripple and when evey other thing becomes more expensive you start looking for who to blame not knowing yourself is to blame for supporting and stupidly rationalising monopoly.

So, it is safe to assume that Dangote is the one orchestrating the anti-importation scheme against Petrol because like you said these other small refiners do not refine PMS.

Now, in the past I supported the banning of rice importation to boost local capacity but I saw the inflationary effect. Secondly, during the period when Naira was losing its value, I saw how local producers didn't care so much about their fellow country, they preferred to sell to their stuffs, especially, to neighbouring countries because they could make more courtesy of exchange rates.

If businessmen or producers wouldn't mind making extra bucks at the risk of their country men (major and sustainable patrons') starving to death, then government should not compel consumers to be loyal to Nigerian producers. It takes 2 to tango. Bunch of idiotic exploiters!

The first bag of cement was launched yesterday in a grand ceremony, marking a key milestone for Mangal Cement Company.
The plant will produce 200 trucks of cement daily and create 10,000 direct and many more indirect jobs.

That plant is not up to 800 million usd. 600 is for the plant itself while other ancillary service like the 50MW wartisal and water treatment plant as well as the other services is what makes it up to 800 million usd

It is necessary because of the lopsided distribution of States. The south east has been shortchanged and has fewer States than others and so a person whose base is in the south east has the short end of the stick already. But with the fct which contrary to what you say, must indeed be populated by federal civil servants selected by federal character , every tribe is adequately represented almost equally by virtue of that federal character . So it neutralises the effect of the lopsided distribution of States, and acts as a real test of the popularity of rhe candidate across the nation.

What do you think the minister of the FCT is? If you even claim Abuja is not a state, then only states are eligible to vote for the President and that makes Abuja votes null and void. This is why the constitution includes Abuja as a State which any candidate can also get 25% to add to the overall votes. Otherwise Abuja 25% will not count as it’s the seat of power. For electoral purposes the constitution wants it to be seen as a State so the votes count equally and, citizens are not disenfranchised with their votes.
