I won't be selfish not to share my testimony, God was involved from the beginning.

I learnt so much from this Nairaland family. I remember when I created my IRCC application account and I came online one day and someone mentioned using his Work official email address and it's advantage. I ran back and change the email address on my account to my official email..

This was my first time applying. Beginning of this year I knew nothing about Canada Study Permit application. I remember submitting my application for PhD study to UBC the first week of this year..

I was offered Admission in Civil Engineering (PhD) with full funding in the month of March. I never knew Canada Study Permit application was a different ball game. The first thing I did was to go to LinkedIn and my God brought my part to a PhD student angel in UBC. He carried my application as his own.

God remember and showed me mercy.

My timeline is below already, but a quick review.
Applied: May 17th
Biometrics done: May 24th
Upfront medical passed: May 28th
BVL: September 22nd
PPR: September 29th.

I prayed, fasted, gave seed and prayed more. I sent emails to MP, Nairobi, London, Beijing, Nigeria etc. Sent webforms to IRCC, Nairobi, Lagos etc. God kept me. I gave up many times, but friends kept on building my faith. I kept on believing God. It was totally God from beginning to the PPR. I look forward to sharing my travel transcript

Your region has been denied a standard international airport. Something that every other region in Nigeria has. The jobs that this airport will create will be filled by every Nigerian including Yoruba, Tiv, Fulani, Hausa, Igala or Efik. Not to mention Enugu and Imo. Today, the Asaba airport taxi services are dominated by Yoruba and Ibibio people. Go and check it and verify.

The refinery is being funded by loans from banks and a syndicate of investors.

This piece was written in response to Naptu’s thread. First and foremost, Naptu is someone I see as an elderly Uncle. He has seen it all and always shows objectivity and maturity when analysing issues. His thread on the south-south creation is timely, educative but not conclusive. Hence, I felt a burden to write this reply.

Now for the record sake, Ekwueme was never in a position to create a geo-political zone. The idea was his as reiterated by Naptu during his incarceration in prison. And in 1998, he suggested the idea to Abacha during the constitutional conference hosted that year. Therefore, the drawing of boundaries and creation of the regions was Abacha’s. Abacha was the Head of state and acted independently by decree without following democratic inputs.

To be candid, looking at the creation of the geo-political zones, one will feel it didn't reflect the true position of situations on ground. If so, the likes of southern Kaduna, southern kebbi and zones in Adamawa have no business in the North-West and North-East. Kwara and Kabba should be in the South-West, while Igbos in Kogi/Benue should be in the South-East. But Abacha’s geo-political zone creation made sure that it didn’t reflect minority consideration, most especially in the north.

Because in reality, if we should apply the principle of using the geo-political zones to douse minority fears, then it failed in that purpose. The fears of an Edo man can not be equated with the fears of an Anioma man. If an Ijaw or Ogoni man wants a Niger-Delta or south-south to be independent of the Igbos, an Etche and Egbema man will never entertain the idea to be cut off from his kinsmen. So how then is the south-south as created by Abacha a true reflection of the people’s choice?
