Exellent question. It will be really interesting to know how they will mark down the price. May be they will set it at 20kobo, which seems to be the floor price for stocks. But remember it really doesn't matter for the shareholders. The price can go to zero. They have been paid.

Just checked the price of MEYER. It is indeed marked down to 20kobo.

Paying interim dividend of 0.15k........seems first of it's kind from the coy.

Seems like the bonus issues of the olden days, interim dividend payments are now the new vogue. Some say they help to maintain share prices within a range.

That's not going to happen. This is the reason why FG is buying a stake in the company, to provide bailout fund for dangote to clear the hanging interest owed.

Don't worry about those Blog writers. They have to write something eye catching to get people to read what they wrote. Unfortunately by so doing they keep dis-marketing the country.

I wonder if it will be useful to develop a system that will predict the next likely company to sell assets.

Maybe the company is folding up......or selling off.

May be there is typo somewhere. grin

@Salanda or anyone wey sabi pass me, come explain o.........Thought a company cannot give dividend above it's market share price?

This amazing. So the management of this company have no idea how to expand the business with the cash they have than to share it out for consumption by the owners and shareholders.

If you're using Desktop/laptop, double click on the coy name you wish to view the offers/bids.....

If it's mobile phone, you'll see a tiny arrow in front of the coy name, click it and select "market order"...
Then click "by order" or "by price"...
It should display it.....
....but note that premarket can only show you the highest bid/lowest offer.

Will do. Thanks

Morgan has done something about the problem. I can now place sell/buy orders. But the Market Orders section shows only one line, so I cannot have a good picture of the bid/offers to make an informed bid. I wonder if this is the case with everybpdy.

Your post is appreciated.. but what I want is the reason why there's a Q2 loss and i don't know how to get it from the statement...

I am not an expert in this but I suggest you:

1. Extract the components of total revenue for the two periods (H1 2020 and H1 2021)
2. Extract the components of their total costs for the two periods.
3. Compare each component of total revenue in H1 2021 with its counterpart in H1 2020
4. Note which component(s), if there is/are, in H1 2021 which is/are LOWER than its/their counterpart(s) in H1 2020.
5. Compare each component of total cost in H1 2021 with its counterpart in H1 2020
6. Note which component(s), if there is/are, in H1 2021 which is/are HIGHER than its/their counterpart(s) in H1 2020.

Components with lower revenue or higher cost will point you to possible areas causing loss in H1 2021 compared to H1 2020.
Note: To do this you have to get the detail financial report of the company.

Like I said I am also just venturing into this. I hope others will critique, add or subtract from this.

What's the point in doing it myself and getting the wrong conclusion

What I have been able to understand from reading the result is that Q2 was a loss..

I have done nothing wrong in asking for "expert opinion".. and asking for guidance..

p.s. I do believe my posting the link to the result will be of benefit to all.. let's do the analysis together.

Thanks for your advice still.

Sorry. You misunderstood my post.

Hi.. need your help to crack this...

https://africanfinancials.com/document/ng-univin-2021-ir-hy/

Above is the half year result of universal insurance.. from my understanding they made profit in the first quarter but a substantial loss in the second quarter

Could you please go through the half year result and tell why they made such huge loss in 2nd quarter?

Appreciated

Why not go the extra mile and do this yourself in the long run. If you need the info immediately now you definitely need the assistance of others. But you can learn how to do rudimentary analysis of financial reports yourself. Lots of analysts are not accountants but of all disciplines such as Engineering and even Doctors. If God blessed you with ability to handle numbers, computers and complex new problems you can do it. This is what I am currently doing. This is just to encourage you and others.

Try it on Monday, and if it's not going, contact Morgan Customer Care.

That's the rule.

You can bid from 9.30am.
Pre-market starts from 9.30am to 10.00am
Main market starts from 10.00am to 2.20pm
MM section from 2.20pm to 2.30pm.
Market close at 2.30pm.

Do you need a special status on Morgan to bid between 9.30 and 10.00am? My own definitely does not allow me until 10.00am.

You know what? I observed that we who use eTrade platforms are at a huge disadvantage when there is a rush to buy a stock going on full bid. This morning by 10am when eTrade started already 23m shares of Transcorp have been sold, and within 10 minutes it has already jumped to 0.98 to 1.00. This same thing happened with Oando, which by 10am on the first day was already on full bid. Which means individual traders/investors using eTrade are being treated unfairly in the current system as there is no equity.

What is happening with Ardova? Price has fallen to about 16 Naira now. Heavy dumping currently ongoing, yet no fresh negative news about the company in the news as at now.

My take is that the bull in Ardova was caused by pumping from people who wanted quick profit from Oando but couldn't get in. By filing in Ardova they pumped it's price up and dumped on late comers. The dumping caused mass exodus from Ardova and the fall in price. One should know why he is buying what he is buying.

Don't celebrate yet. You know there are many who bought at 0.84 and below, and who would have made at least 20% at 1.00. They will probably be bringing out offers now. Let's see how high they will allow it to go. I bought some of mine at 1.20.

Death cross on short timeframe? Why not use 50/200 instead of 10/50? If you have to use STF, why not 21/50?
I believe 10/50 will pick up a lot of noise.

I no sabi TA ooo

Obviously you do sabi TA. We are all learning and sometimes have different understanding. My understanding of the Death Cross is just that it is a situation where a faster moving (shorter duration) MA crosses below a slower moving (longer duration) one. The actual duration are not fixed but depend on the objective being pursued. Generally longterm value investors use longer duration MAs while "short term" traders use shorter duration MAs. In all cases one has to try various duration combinations and back test them to see if they adequately predict what they are interested in. In my case I use 50 day and 10, 15 or 20 day combinations, or 100 day and 10, 15 or 20 day combinations depending on the stock and whether or not the MA lines do act as support and resistance lines and their crosses do predict short term price directions.

I was expecting a free fall in FCMB going by the bad result released yesterday, but the price aren't falling.

FCMB formed a Death Cross on it's daily chart since last week even before the results, the price fell somewhat and I was expecting it to fall further accordingly.
