fidson?forget.their year end is now December and they gave a dividend of 5k compared to 15k last year, which might even be overlooked, but with catastrophic result? no way I saw the results. They aren't that bad. EPS grew by 19%. I have not seen the corporate action where the 5kobo dividend was declared. May be the market reacted to that. |

Yes Sir. The price will be re-adjusted based on the bonus such company gives (i mean how much the bonus worth base on the share price). I believe the price after bonus is calculated such that the value of your holding remains the same after the bonus shares are added. So if P1 = price before bonus P2 = price after bonus S1 = no. of shares you own before bonus S2 = no. of shares after bonus Value before bonus V1 = (P1 x S1) Value after bonus V2 = (P2 x S2) So V1=V2, or (P1 x S1) = (P2 xS2) P2 = (P1 x S1)/S2 for 1 for 20 bonus; S2= S1 + (S1/20) P2 = (P1 x S1)/(S1 + (S1/20)) 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Short Nigeria! Don't Get Shot On The Frontier
http://seekingalpha.com/article/3963796-short-nigeria-get-shot-frontier
Summary
The Nigerian government is keeping their currency at an irrationally high level.
Sooner or later, Nigeria will loose their struggle in the global currency wars.
A Naira devaluation would also hurt the NSE.
Why can't the people who think they can become the next Soros by shorting Naira just place their bets and keep quiet? Do they have to force the government to devalue? They have calculated how much profit they want to make that they are telling us by how much to devalue. After they chop the money they will then tell us we have to devalue further so the cycle will continue. Meanwhile they are to show how devaluation will restore dollar inflow to the level of the good days of $100 oil. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria could be kicked out of the MSCI Frontier Markets Index http://www.cnbcafrica.com/news/financial/2016/04/08/nigeria-msci-frontier-markets-index/
Points - $480mn of MSCI benchmarked money in Nigeria - a potential of $480mn to be sold, but given the illiquidity of naira foreign exchange markets, it is unlikely that this amount could be sold. - Equity investors already have at least $0.5bn less in Nigeria than they "should" have if they were exactly tracking the index (and a billion less than the $1.5bn they might have if they were optimistic and "overweight" Nigeria). Now the remaining $0.5bn is under threat too.
interesting times Nothing unusual for commodity based economies. Things go in cycles depending on commodity prices. It will turn around again some day. If you are based locally it can be an opportunity. 3 Likes 3 Shares |

UACN and Flour Mills are currently challenged especially in the area of Finance costs. Livestock and UPDC will soon be in the market for rights. Consumers appetite is also waning. At current prices for long term both are good.
UCAP - the situation of the Country is favouring not only this company but most companies in the financial sector but caution must be taken as to know how prudent their management is in managing their risks. A repeat of the 35k given this year will be fantastic but past performance is not guaranteed for the future.
WAPCO- It is good at this price for long term.
Holding stocks for short, medium and long term is a function of how you have set up your investment objectives. Define yours and stick with it. I don't know when longterm investors will show up on the NSE. For now it is ultra short term. People are ready to take as small as 5% gain, thanks to the facility of online trading. |

Another disadvantage on inv one easy trade is that you cannot cancel an order once given until market close at 4 pm. If you need to cancel you have to call your accounts officer. This is huge disadvantage which Morgan does not have. 1 Like |

Just send the order via easy trade online platform... It goes directly to trading floor asap
Very simple. Same here. I use easy trade and it goes straight to the floor. They had some problems with it some weeks back when they were disconnected from the floor. But they are OK now. It is easy as using Morgan except for their higher transaction costs. I wish they will reduce the costs and compete with Morgan. |

georgesylva: I would really like to trade Nigerian stocks but the more I look the less I see. Damn slow, payment structure and stuff. Are there manipulations? From some of what I read there might a possibility. Forex seems safer, but stocks should be. Hmm... If anyone could clarify how it works I would appreciate it. If you feel safer with forex and you know how to trade them well why not stay with what you understand. |
