I was expecting a free fall in FCMB going by the bad result released yesterday, but the price aren't falling.

FCMB formed a Death Cross on it's daily chart since last week even before the results, the price fell somewhat and I was expecting it to fall further accordingly.

Nowadays people are happy with 7% profit. That is why it is hard to sustain rallies. Even Oando I think it is because many bought at much higher prices and got trapped. They are holding out hoping to at least breakeven.

I think it might be people who can't get into OANDO rushing into ARDOVA believing that what happens to a key stock in a sector will affect others in the sector. Just look at the price drop today of UCAP just because AFRIPRUD reported bad results. Up to Friday UCAP was rallying.

Any news on Livestock? It's on full bid.

Part two may depend on the release of the backlog of results they are supposed to release in their agreement with SEC, and if the results are good. However, sentiment is always a factor with OANDO.

Looks like ACCESS is going to hover around N9 for a while

Thanks @bigjay01. I actually saw this Press Statement by Oando, and I am not doubting it. But I thought SEC too should issue a statement. This will prevent the claims and counter claims. When two parties come to such agreements they usually issue joint statements, or separate supporting statements.

My preferred Long Term Stocks : These are actually the consistent dividend paying stocks.
If entry is timed right these could be considered:
Most of the big cap stocks....... Nestlé, MTN, SEPLAT, OKOMU, PRESCO, DANGCEM, Airtel, BUA, etc ........and also: VITAFOAM, CAP Plc, Custodian, UCAP, Conoil, NEM, JB, Learn Africa, GSK, M&B, Fidson, Dangsugar, Wapco...

The Tier 1 banks (F.U.G.A.Z & Stanbic) fits into Short, medium and long term, depending on the periods in view, your investment objectives and your personality (culled this out from one of Oga Wanaj0's posts).
Tier 2 Banks fits more into short and medium, also fits into long term anyway....

Short Term :
Other banks, some insurance stocks, JP, HW, TRANSCORP, Livestock.......... remember some could also fit into long term.

Actually the list is not exhaustive and not cast in stone. Also bear in mind that regular review of each stock is very important to know if they're still performing up to expectations.

This is my opinion.........

Kind of you to take your time and give this info. Clearly the long lists show how difficult this game is, and the need to have a plan. Unfortunately I found that making a trading/investment plan is easier said than done. Even if one makes a plan sticking to it is not easy. This however is not meant to discourage.

My concern is how one can monitor the health of these stockbrokers since there is not much insurance on the funds one keeps with them. If a company starts raising its charges for example, can that be an indication stress?

I am afraid this market might not rally much even after the elections. Just like the way FX speculators did not get the anticipated Naira depreciation before the elections and many have now lost money.
