This is not exactly a big deal. It is just about bending steel and welding them together, but in a smooth manner. Aba has been into these things for ages; so they do not need to prove anything to anyone.

Tell me how these socially untrained cadets will not shoot and kill anyone at sight, and how they will not steal public money if they come across any.

CLEARLY, the Nigerian followers are as rotten as the Nigerian leaders, for it takes rotten followers to beget rotten leaders.

You guys are in a vicious cycle, big time!!! May God help you.

Things like this are among the reasons why Nigeria will remain underdeveloped for a long time to come. The people's mentality are underdeveloped, let alone their environment.

Just see how short, dirty-looking, poorly-fed and ignorant-sounding all four or five of them cadets look.

The location looks ''deserty'' (so likely somewhere in northern Nigeria). But Ibadan and Ilorin are also somewhat ''deserty''.

Video:see what semi-iliterate military cadets did to a young man simply for complementing the beauty of one of them. It turns out from the video that the cadet in question is as ugly as hell. Please listen to their accents and guess which ethnic group or groups they may come from. I believe from her accent that the cadet girl who was doing the main beating is Yoruba.

Confusionist:
1. To make an okupe, remove the brain, stuff with idomie.

2. To have a puppet, get someone who don't have to think. He/she will do exactly as u wanted.

3. To get people who don't really think, look east!

Just knw ds, the west never liked the Yorubas, they too enlightened to grow discord within then.

If I lie, go thru history.

But the truth is:
"There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behaviour that can offend; by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness"

.............Chinua Achebe.

You tribal dolt! Soludo is an Igbo man yet he has not become a WB top shot. Have you ever wondered why no Nigerian male (Igbo or not) has attained the positions that three Nigerian females have so easily attained? Stop injecting your stuuupid tribalism into this. I am a man and I am concerned that Nigerian men aren't found worthy by the WB.

try and do some research OP, for the sake of informing yourself.

a) find out how much was in the federation account when she came in as minister under jonathan

b) find out How much she left there when she handed over

a) find out How much a barrel of oil was sold for before jonathan

b) find out How much it was sold for during Jonathan's tenure

a) find out How much the dollar sold for just as Jonathan came in

b) find out How much it sold for when he was leaving

a) find out How much external debt Nigeria had before okonjo Iweala came in a second time

b) find out How much it was as she was packing her load and exiting.

it's just a simple Google exercise.

You are confused.

1. She was a VP of WB before ever becoming a minister in Nigeria.
2. She became an MD after she left office as a minister the first time. Before then, she already had name recognition as a VP at the WB, which makes her suitable for a higher position there.
2. When she left office as a minister recently (2015), she was not ''rewarded'' (according to you) with any position at the WB. In fact, she no longer works for the WB.

These are basic facts. So not sure what you are getting confused about.

delusions of grandeur.

you will understand the role of the former minister of finance and why she was rewarded with the job.

Before she was a minister (the first time under Obasanjo) she was already a VP of the WB. So I do not think it has anything to do with being rewarded. Were Oby and Arunma also rewarded, and for what?

Prior to her ministerial career in Nigeria, Okonjo-Iweala was vice-president and corporate secretary of the World Bank Group. She left it in 2003 after she was appointed to President Obasanjo's cabinet as Finance Minister on 15 July 2003.

This can't just be mere coincidence. Either someone somewhere is pulling the strings for Nigerian women, and in particular, Igbo women, or the WB really has double (one for females, the other for Igbos) thoughts about who from Nigeria to entrust with high and sensitive positions.

Which one is it?
Politics / Have you noticed this about the World Bank and Nigeria? by Ramnon2: 3:01pm On Jan 13, 2016
Like many of you, I also have observed that the World Bank (WB) has produced three very high ranking Nigerians in its history.

Just to be clear, a couple other Nigerians have worked, or still work, at the WB, but three of them have been the most high ranking Nigerians by far, namely:

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, as a former MD (second in the hierarchy)

Oby Ezekewesili, as a former VP for Africa (a rank comparable to fourth in command, sort of)

Arunma Oteh, as current VP and Treasurer (a rank comparable to third in the hierarchy, sort of)

Two salient observations:
1. They are all women
2. They are all Igbos

Two questions arise from this observation:
1. Does the WB distrust Nigerian males? If not, why are all these top shots females? There is no way on earth that they all are more qualified than the likes of Soludo to be a VP of the World Bank. Even if Ngozi is more qualified than Soludo, are the other two females also more qualified than him? I mentioned Soludo because he readily comes to mind, but there are also other male Nigerians in the realms of Economics and money matters with similar global acclaim.

2. Does the WB distrust non-Igbo Nigerians? If not, why is it that only Igbos occupy this position ''zoned'' (as it were grin grin grin grin) to Nigeria?

No tribalism, no antsiness, no mudslinging. Please.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Denmark To Seize Jewelry And Cash From Refugees by Ramnon2: 7:48pm On Dec 17, 2015
Is this a hit or miss policy? Not so different from Trump's and the GOP's position on war refugees from the Middle East.

I am just wondering, in the USA arabs are racially classified as whites. If white (Caucasians) people could treat other whites (non Caucasians, but white nonetheless) like this, how would they treat blacks/browns if there is a war in, for example, Nigeria, and millions of blacks are looking to port as refugees to the West?

Denmark wants to seize jewelry and cash from refugees

By Rick Noack December 17 at 5:00 AM 

A photograph made available on Nov. 20 shows police organizing the line of refugees on the stairway leading up from the trains arriving from Denmark, at the Hyllie train station outside Malmo, Sweden, on Nov. 19. (Johan Nilsson/European Pressphoto Agency)

In recent months, Denmark has taken a fairly harsh stance toward refugees. In September, for example, authorities published an ad in Lebanese newspapers carrying an unmistakable message to foreigners who might think about seeking asylum: Don't come to Denmark.

Now, the country is debating another and even more extreme step: The government is considering a law that would allow authorities to confiscate jewelry from refugees entering the country. The proposal is almost certain to pass Parliament.

"It is pretty telling about the current Danish policies that [some] are not quite sure whether this is a hoax or not," said Zachary Whyte, an asylum and integration researcher at the University of Copenhagen. In this case, it's real.

"The bill presented on 10 December 2015 provides the Danish authorities with the power to search clothes and luggage of asylum seekers — and other migrants without a permit to stay in Denmark — with a view to finding assets which may cover the expenses," the Danish Ministry of Integration said in an email to The Washington Post.

The law would also impact refugees already in the country. It is included in an asylum policy bill that is expected to pass Parliament in January and would be set to take effect by next February. Police authorities would be allowed to seize valuables and cash amounts they deem expensive enough.

According to the Integration Ministry, "the new rule on seizure will only apply to assets of a considerable value." Foreigners are expected to be able to "keep assets which are necessary to maintain a modest standard of living, e.g. watches and mobile phones. Furthermore, assets which have a certain personal, sentimental value to a foreigner will not, as a main rule, be seized unless they have [considerable] value."

There were discrepancies in how the two main political parties are interpreting the proposed law. "Absurdly, the minister of justice initially explained the law on television by saying that it would apply to a hypothetical asylum seeker arriving with a suitcase full of diamonds. This prompted the Danish People’s Party to point out that items of smaller value should also be impounded," Whyte said.

He thinks there is no need for the law. "Asylum seekers generally do not arrive in Denmark with large amounts of cash and jewelry," he said.

The proposal "has been branded petty and cruel, and some opponents have asked whether the government would also be taking out asylum seekers' gold fillings," Whyte said. The idea of seizing jewelry from people who are fleeing has a particularly bitter connotation in Europe, where the Nazis confiscated large amounts of gold and other valuables from Jews and others.

The Danish Integration Ministry emphasized, however, that current rules already required refugees with sufficient financial means to pay for their stay themselves. Although the seized valuables are supposed to pay for refugee-related expenditures, the financial impact could be of less consequence. Experts say the Danish government is more interested in sending a message.

"Europe currently receives a very high number of refugees," Denmark's Integration Ministry defended the law. "Denmark does take a share. However, [too many refugees] put pressure on the Danish society and make it more difficult to ensure a successful integration of those who come to Denmark."

"Refugees who have been granted a residence permit can make full use of the free Danish school, education (including tertiary education) and health system on the same level as everyone else in Denmark," the ministry said. Denmark also provides integration procedures that run up to three years and include language as well as job training, for instance. "The aim of the Danish integration effort is to support refugees in order for them to become participating and financially independent citizens," the statement emphasized.

However, critics say that Denmark has tried hard to portray itself as a destination few refugees would want to go to. Recently, the Danish government cut social benefits for refugees by up to 50 percent. Even after neighboring Sweden recently increased restrictions because it had been overwhelmed by the refugee influx, Denmark was quick to emphasize that its policies still remained far more restrictive, researcher Whyte said. "This is in line with a general Danish asylum policy of trying to maintain and communicate a less welcoming position to refugees than its neighboring countries," Whyte explained.

Did Kalu actually block Odegbami's chances?

Does Odegbami presume that only he can/should run for that position from Nigeria? In other words, did he not want to compete for the position, and is now crying wolf where there is none?

Did Amos Adam do a name-dropping with Kalu to scuttle Odegbami's bid?

Many questions, little or no answers.

Former Nigeria skipper, Segun Odegbami , has blamed ex-FIFA executive committee member Amos Adamu and rival Orji Uzor Kalu for his failure to get the backing of other African countries in his quest to become the new FIFA boss.

Odegbami, who was endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to run for the FIFA presidency in February, could not muster nominations from five African soccer federations by Monday’s deadline to enable him stand for the FIFA elections.

“Where were Amos Adamu and (Orji) Kalu yesterday (Monday)? It’s a Nigerian thing to bring down others,” africanFootball.com quoted Odegbami as saying on a radio interview monitored in Abuja Tuesday morning.

“Well, I have done my own bit and it is left for others to do theirs.”

Former Abia State Governor Kalu was linked with the FIFA presidential race, but he did not submit any documentation for his candidacy to the NFF.

The NFF therefore endorsed Odegbami at the weekend.

Adamu, who is now being investigated by the FIFA ethics committee, has publicly endorsed Kalu as the best candidate from Nigeria for the FIFA presidency.

If Nigerians are human beings with any form of human intellect, the word - war should not appear on the lips of any Nigerian discussing about possible disintegration of Nigeria. There is no iota of unity and patriotism among Nigerians. For the past 50 years, Nigeria still appear as a free-floating device with no anchor. Were Nigerians forbidden from their investments in Ghana when Nigeria got independence? If the nation states were to stand after the disintegration of Nigeria, seizure of investments that belong to other nationals will be a diplomatic landmine.

It is good that you know Nigeria is unlike any other country in the world. There is no international diplomacy that would save Igbo investment in other parts of Nigeria.
