tobimillar: You have just helped to further diminish and undermine Osibanjo. You mean after Buhari in office for 8 years, Elrufai should take over for another Fulani 8 years? So what about Osibanjo and SW? Hehehe! |

bettercreature: You need to travel out more. The yoruba are so loud that uncountable videos have been made of them shouting ngba-ti, aburo, oya, kilenso, duro demi, all over the streets of London, Dublin, Accra and Cotonou and in buses and trains. There are videos of yorubas fighting inside of buses and trains and having altercations with Jamaicans 4 Likes |

adconline: The other question was from the traders perspective. Do they risk their undeclared or partially declared money being seized in the destination or would they then truthfully declare the full amount? If they would do the later, why not begin from Nigeria? After all, it is okay to have more than 10K, as long as you declare everything, yes? |

adconline: On the bolded: Even with cash? Interesting to know, but still wont make the mistake of carrying large cash amounts. You cannot trust the custom/efcc not to attempt to intimidate you. I'd rather pay all the bank fees and have my money safe. |
Crime / Re: Tension as EFCC Seizes Dollars From Onitsha Traders by Ramnon2: 10:09am On Sep 27, 2015 |
adconline:Thanks, but you answered only a part of my question. Still does not negate the fact that carrying 100K in cash to a foreign land may be an issue. Would they not be declaring it in their destination? I am a frequent international traveler ( not a trader, and I use credit cards for all travels) and that question is recurrent in Customs declaration forms on entry into most countries. |

erico2k2: There are so many news flying around me. Not easy to keep track of those not affecting me directly. Fyi, I sent $s recently into my dorm account from Wells Fargo Bank w/out any issues. So it does seem like the policy does not affect remittances from abroad. |

adconline: Easy on the rudeness, dude, it is absolutely unneeded. I do own a dom account but use it only to remit money to Nigeria from abroad not the other way round. BTW, is the portion of your statement in bold a new Nigerian policy or has it always been there? If so, do you mind enlightening me on how these cash-totting Nigerian traders beat the 10K cash limit at foreign airports? |

Gbawe: Stop quoting wiki for me. There is nothing spectacular about Fayemi's pedigree; besides I am not really interested in his mere paper qualifications, give me tangibles. How come the electorate in Ekiti found him unworthy? Like Fayose, he also give stomach infrastructure inducement to voters, and he was in power in the popular party of SW, yet was butted out. After 4 years, how did he develop Ekiti beyond how he met it? And you do not consider him failed? Don't get me wrong, same goes for all govs, regardless of party and region. 1 Like 1 Share |

Gbawe: Pray, tell, what makes Fayemi (who was easily dethroned by a common tout) and Elrufai (a failed former PDP minister) smart? As for Kachikwu, did he not only just got back from abroad to help out? I make bold to say that the savior of Nigeria would be diasporans. You folks at home in govt (and their praise singers) are incompetent, corrupt and utterly lazy. |

On the topic, I would advise PDP to stay away and remain an opposition party, as robust as they can be. If they take over the senate, then they would be part of the govt, sharing in its expected failures. In the US, both parties are being blamed for governmental failings because both are in power in different arms of govt. 1 Like |

Onitsha traders - and others like them- should please modernize their importation systems. It is time to do so. I hope the educated among them, and many are, would not be carrying huge cash about like this. How about traveling with the max allowable amount, 10K, and wire-transferring the rest money? Or is there no money transfer service in the "giant of Africa"? Even if you elude detection in Nigeria, how about at the foreign destination airport? Most countries have this same policy. How about if there is a plane accident and you lose all the money? 3 Likes |

Politics / Re: Photo: Nigeria Seriously Lags Behind Many African Countries In Innovation by Ramnon2: 2:37pm On Sep 24, 2015 |
Okay! I get it. Most of the innovative or potentially innovative Nigerians have all escaped abroad. The remaining folks in Nigeria are so dumb that they chose to elect an illiterate 75 years old man as their president. Education, research and innovation would now be even more dead than they have ever been. Shame! |
Politics / Re: Photo: Nigeria Seriously Lags Behind Many African Countries In Innovation by Ramnon2: 2:35pm On Sep 24, 2015 |
Innovation is based on research, which itself is conducted in Universities (in the main, of course). Unfortunately Nigerian universities are no more than glorified primary schools where little, if any meaningful, competitive research leading to commensurate innovation takes place. |

Despite our greater GDP, we are being worsted by many economically and demographically smaller African countries Even ''ordinary'' Mali is doing better than Nigeria, the self-acclaimed giant of Africa |

Can Buhari's body ========================================================= http://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2015/09/global-innovation-rankings?fsrc=scn%2Ftw%2Fte%2Fbl%2Fed%2FThe_innovation_game&%3Ffsrc=scn%2F%3Dtw%2Fdc WHICH is the world’s most innovative country? Answering this question is the aim of the annual Global Innovation Index and a related report, which were published this morning by Cornell University, INSEAD, a business school, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The ranking of 140 countries and economies around the world, which are scored using 79 indicators, is not surprising: Switzerland, Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands and America lead the pack. But the authors also look at their data from other angles, for instance how countries do relative to their economic development and the quality of innovation (measured by indicators such as university rankings). In both cases the results are more remarkable. The chart above shows that in innovation many countries in Africa punch above their economic weight. And the chart below indicates that, even though China is now churning out a lot of patents, it is still way behind America and other rich countries when it comes to innovation quality
