Jonah Otunla

The Accountant General of the Federation Mr. Jonah Otunla was yesterday removed from office.

The source, according to an online publication, The Will said Otunla was removed from office because he allegedly misappropriated N2.5 billion of security agencies’ funds.

The source said Mohammed Dikwa, from Borno State, has been appointed as his replacement, but in acting capacity.

Dikwa until his appointment was a Director in Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) confirmed the removal of Otunla as Accountant and the appointment of Dikwa as Acting Accountant General.

In a statement late Friday, the Office of the AGF said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the change, which takes effect immediately.

The statement said Dikwa would hold the position until a substantive replacement was announced.

Until his appointment as the Acting Accountant-General, Mr. Dikwa was the Director, Funds Department in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the statement said.

Mr. Dikwa has Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy and Master in Business Administration and Finance.

He had attended the Senior Executive Course 34, 2014 at the National Institute of for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.  He was awarded Certificates in Public Finance Management Reforms, Leadership and Governance, High Performance Leadership Programme and Treasury Management at the Harvard University USA, University of Cambridge, Oxford University UK and Thames Valley University UK respectively.  Mr. Dikwa is a   Fellow Certified National Accountant and Fellow Charted Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, among others.


He has facilitated and attended many Courses, Workshops and Seminars, the statement said.

SARAKI AND TINUBU POLITICAL RESUME JUXTAPOSED

Some people still do not like to come to terms that we have an elected Senate President now and every other thing is secondly.

Those who feel Saraki is in trouble because Tinubu's wife refused to shake the senate President are learners in Nigerian political atmosphere.


For your information, Tinubu and Madam canot do anything apart from complain and grumble.

This is because Tinubu is not the godfather of Saraki and both have achieved a lot in the Nigerian political cycle.

Tinubu was a two term governor of Lagos state. Saraki was a two term governor of Kwara state.

Tinubu is the godfather in Lagos state. Saraki is the godfather in Kwara state after the demise of his father Dr Olusola Saraki.

Tinubu won his gubernatorial election in Lagos state without Saraki's help. Saraki did the same without Tinubu's help.

Tinubu won senatorial election in 1993 to represent lagos west senatorial constituency without Saraki's help. His sojourn in the upper chamber was shortlived due to the annulment.

Saraki won his without Tinubu's help and is serving his second term in the upper chambers.

In politics, Saraki CV is richer than that of Tinubu excluding the Senate President fit. Now, he is the Senate President, number 3 man in Nigeria while Tinubu is not and may likely not be a senate President in his lifetime.

In fact, Saraki and his colleague decamp from PDP to APC gave APC the leverage they used to defeat PDP. That move almost disintegrated PDP. Tinubu tried several to win presidential election but failed.

Therefore, I am of the opinion that Tinubu needs Saraki more than Saraki needs Tinubu. His next move is to extend hands of fellowship to Saraki and work in harmony with him or put pressure on him and lose more senators and house of rep members to PDP who are eargely waiting for the return of their brothers and sisters.
