hopefulLandlord: bros, we have started exploring other planets, you may never know how that would turn out, we might end up living in different planets for all we know, I learnt certain group of people would be sent to live the remainder of their lives on mars (read it somewhere)
lots are going on
about resources running out, I remember a theory accepted that the world would be in food crisis by centuries ago, those that formulated it were right as far as they could see BUT they never knew there would be mechanisation of farming, as the time drew closer, the theory was abandoned
you'll never know bro, you'll never know, you may die decades from now and wake up in the year 2626472 We all love and appreciate futuristic thinking, but the line has to get drawn at a point lest it becomes more ridiculous than the religious notions that ''we'' so love to deride. Even Kardashev the astronomer had to stop at Class III when he was devising his famous scale of civilization. Some things will just not happen regardless of how tantalizing they sound. |

hopefulLandlord: what makes you so very sure that humans in the future may not be immoral?
what makes you so sure scientists may not raise bodies that have been dead for centuries back to life in the future?
future might be MR NIGER
I know its a stretch but science doesn't claim to know it all, it changes with each new discovery so nothing is written in stone as far as science is concerned Physical immortality makes no sense. The Earth has limited resources. There's a finite number of people that it can sustain. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Atheism Failed Me; The Testimony Of Nick Watts. by Ranchhoddas: 8:27pm On Sep 16, 2016 |
hopefulLandlord: that no proof would suffice doesn't make a hypothetical one right, does it? that's argumentum ad ignorantum there's the "unknown" and they remain unknown until we eventually know them
many things our fathers termed "supernatural" are no longer regarded as such, who is to say we won't unravel the mysteries of death sometime in the future? Scientifically, there is nothing mysterious about death, it's just part of the cycle that living things undergo (MR NIGER D). It is a cessation of life that is necessary for the continued proliferation of our species. There is no mystery to be unravelled here. What we are talking about is whether anything comes after, and the nature of proof that would make a doubter stop doubting. Call me closed-minded but the scientific method CANNOT be the way to go about this. |

raphieMontella: lol..maybe bt an immaterial soul doesnt fit in what we know about the brain and its processes..this consciousness is also evident in ''animals'' will they have an afterlife? Consciousness has never been proven to be immune to the authority of the brain,,so if this immaterial stuff were to exist...it cannot function without the physical(brain).. In other words; no proof would suffice. |

A fallacious move is not necessarily a false one. The people or some people may just turn out to be right. Or have you ruled out this possibility? |
Christianity Etc › Re: I Am Losing My Fear Of Death As An Unbeliever In Christianity. by Ranchhoddas: 6:05pm On Sep 16, 2016 |
TheSixthSense: It does not threaten the believers, rather it moves us to share the truth of the Gospel with those who do not yet know Jesus Christ. This is the situation. God wrath abides on all of us because of our sinful nature and Jesus Christ is our only hope for salvation because He has paid the price already. Just a thought. The price that Jesus paid was a cruel death at the cross followed by a resurrection three days later. Is this the same price that awaits sinners? If no; what and why? |

But on the other hand we have overwhelming documentary evidence of those who came back from the dead to confirm the existence of God. Among them are scientists if high repute. The YouTube is already overflowing with that. Over! What about the ones that died and came back with stories unrelated to Christianity? Should they be taken seriously? |

sonofluc1fer: Confusion shows awareness, only robots are sure of where they are going. You a self-starter program. Forgive my computer science terminologies. How aware you are of the world around you is what some term 'spirituality'. Unfortunately, the Bible has nothing about you. No matter how you may enjoy the stories therein or feel assured about its promises, the truth remains that the Book wasn't written for or to you. You're not a Gentile, Hebrew or Roman. Don't let other people"s fear hold you back. Don't kill your curiosity. You have only one life to live and to explore. 100 years from now , everyone one on NL and everyone you've ever known will be dead. Make your time count. Read, search for knowledge. Knowledge will expand your mind, and throw light that reveals ignorance. Where ignorance clears, self confidence starts to grow from within. Insightful. |
