Police in Mogoditshane (Botswana) have expressed concern over escalating tensions between Batswana and Zimbabwean nationals following a series of violent clashes allegedly linked to rising crime in the area.

The clashes come amid accusations by some local residents that foreign nationals, particularly Zimbabweans, are responsible for the increase in criminal activities in the village.

What I saw in that video is viligantism. That should not be encouraged in this century.

Remember people have lost trust in the system so they're now policing their communities themselves. There's collusion between illegal migration syndicates and SA officials, hence the situation has reached critical levels. Even if you reported an employer violating labour laws, more often the authorities will request a bribe.

Anyone with proper immigration and labour documents is free to operate in SA. The government has warned people against viligantism and conducting citizen arrests.

South African Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture - Gayton McKenzie - says he feels "insulted" that Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi talked publicly about artists’ plight without first consulting him.

McKenzie has repeatedly come under fire for not caring about the Arts and Culture part of his department after he slashed funding for key arts festivals.

He came out defending himself, saying that festival organisers cannot expect to grow old with the government as their "mother and father and your everything" forever.

Malawi seeks donations to evacuate 10 000 citizens from South Africa

The Malawi government has launched an appeal for financial and logistical support to help repatriate an estimated 10 000 Malawian nationals affected by violence targeting foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.

In a statement issued by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), authorities said the scale of the ongoing repatriation exercise has placed unprecedented financial, logistical and humanitarian demands on the government.
