@sharn06 (scratching his dome) ermh, Good poetry but i wouldnt say i got the message. Some more explicit rhyming wouldnt be a bad idea! Nice one though.Keep it coming. @Jduck13 where u been son? Kinda missed havin u around(nappy headed boy!).Kick them fly lyricz and let the most high feel it! @wordsmith u dnt need a shrink to tell u hw mentally ill u is/coz fundamentally u rock/keep doin ur biz! @HYBRID-X Errbody knowz my position on rap battlez.I acknowledge it as been an aspect of the hip hop sub-culture since KRS-One Vs MC Shan, but that dont mean i accept it as a God-Emcee. I believe it creates more acrimony than amusement.I'll rather write rhymez that stimulate positive thinking and increase ur level of God-Conciousness! Some say its a harmless sport but ive seen the results even here on NL. Just 4 the record,i think u damaged some emceez on that thread! But as for Wordsmith, yall still battling. So,the outcome will determine who gets outdone! Nuff said without bloodshed. |

@HYBRID-X nah,the album is still under process.Ive got the whole CD on paper but i need green paper to put it on wax!(capish?) Been tryna hook up with ill producers who can bless it with banging beats.Until the album becomes official, its back to my 9-5 job! Got a single out though but im having challenges getting it into circulation. Its only a matter of time b4 i see the sunshine(Lord Willing!). |

Mmmmh! |
@jerrymania muzik is God and God is muzik! Christianity is not a religion but a way of life(comprising of music, language, dressing, norms, values and spiritual heads).Gospel musik will definitely outlive this life cos God inhabits the praises of his people in whatever form(hip hop,rock,accapela,r&b,hymns,e.t.c). We gonna hve musik in heaven and it wont be none of the wack stuff i hear and watch over the airwaves.God forbid! iam interested in music with a life of its own.music that can get inside your brain and stay there.music that cannot be faulted on any score because its perfect all round:edifying lyrical content, superior quality, banging beats and tight videos! Get ur heads out of the clouds and improve ur skills. The world can only respect ur message and accept it when its obvious u believe in it enough to give it ur best. Nuff said! |
now that we agree we have a problem, what do we do? |
i agree its not just hip hop but that is the most appealing to nigerian youths today.thats why i chose it. walk down any street in lagos or any part of naija and you will see my point. |
@HYBRID-X when i found God with the flow and had to cross over frm secular to gospel,it wasnt easy 4 me 2 spit. But as i discovered more about God and myself thru the scriptures,it became a part of me.Truth is,u cant give what u dnt have! I am nice with the flow as a gospel rapper simply because i express my thots and beliefs thru a language called hip hop.Thats all rap is about : expressin who u are thru the musik! There gospel rap is not a style u switch to(nah). Its a nature u have finding expression thru a medium called hip hop. Be urself son and be fly with it! When u find God with the flow, hola @ ur boy, there's room in God's lyricist lounge 4 all of us.One Luv,One God,One Way! |

@whizkidd Boy! That greenland song by Ty Bello of the erstwhile gospel trio 'KUSH' is off the bleeding hook! I watched the video on soundcity last nite.Really tight! Should get my homegirl an award.Cant wait to cop the album! God bless u,Ty! U be girl wey sabi. @HYBRID-X yoruba gospel artistes are not necessarily the wackest(haba!).What about those igbotic gospel artistes we are forced to listen to at the motorpark? Though,i gree say some yoruba artistes go get nominations for wack gospel artistes awards! |
@HYBRID-X "educated, need not see reason to reason mentally, eventually". S' got a nice rhythm to it,plus wordplay. Kool! Mic Check: The ressurrectn is here/it will not be televised/ pure perfection is rare/too complex to analyze! The crucifixion/is made a cruci-fiction/ now fools is missing/still tryna find alternative cures/ for who's affliktion? God's got a man-obssession/but money got a man all stressing/he spitting his heart out vexing/for some shorty he got affection! A man's heart is changed/but old friends actin strange/they pop half his cage/as he hops out his range! My sixteenz are pristine/they glisten,u listen/ i spit this 4 this feenz/and those still living in a sinful existence! [I think i just killed something, better hideaway!] (The rap prophet sneaks out) |
@wordsmith Talking bout gospel rap cats,hw many tight ones hve u heard from naija? D Capo used to hold it down until he upped and left 4 yankee. Rooftop MCs are kool esp wt that shock therapy track,bt honestly, they need to step up their game coz gospel rap underground is brimming with emcees patiently waiting 2 blow! mmmh, who else is there? Me? Well,we'll see when the album drops. |
I had an experience last week that really had me thinking.Just walking down my street,i came across a group of kids ages btw 5-8yrs and they were chanting the verses of some popular songs.I couldnt help but overhear them using the 'f' word, saying 'bitches' and describing sex scenes in shocking details. It made me wonder how long they would remain innocent b4 they started acting out the lyrics they were reciting. One little girl was actually trying out some sexy dance she must have watched on T.V! People! Lets be candid to ourselves.Do we really feel good when we see our young siblings growing up under such negative influences. Some might say the artistes never intended 2 corrupt the minds of children but we 4get that they are very impressionable and copy what they see. I dnt want my kids or siblings growing up to love violence, lewdity and disrespect for women. But,what example am i setting, when i sing about those very things? A kid walked up to me recently and said he wants to be like me.I told him to be who God wants him to be.But i could see,he wasnt buying it.As far as he was concerned,i was more real to him than any1 else!. Now,that made me feel responsible for him.God forbid,i use my music to influence him negatively! What about u? |
"And God took Jeremiah to a valley filled wt dry bones and asked him 'can these dry bonez live again?'.Then the spirit of God breathe life into the valley of bones and it became an army" The ressurrection will not be televised or podcasted, nah!.The ressurrectn is here and now. Jduck13,where ya at? Hola2ng,whats poppin? Po deep, where yall at ? Lets bring back the heat of the 'son' on nairaland with the gospel rap freestyle! I never fell off.Im still blazin, still raising the roof, still praisin, still amazing 'em youths.I neva change,i remain d rap prophet. When i die,my soul lives on as my spirit re-unites with the Father! Hiphop lives coz i breathe life into music.Dont blame me,im just like my Father! HYBRID-X! Welcome 2 the family! |
Hey guys! Did yall check out the sage'skit on the mixtape:"The Dj is a poet".That was off the chain! Watched the cat on hip T.V,he's one unique guy.Even his accent is different. 9ce kinda sounded different on that party track.Had me wondering if it wz the same person. I think dat 'concious' track by nomoreloss & co is a little suspect.Heard sm subtle references to people who wear jeans and dont hve african names.Wonder who the target rily was? or What do yall think? |
@HYBRID-X (chuckles).its kinda ironic that iam been made to evaluate the skillz of an emcee on the strength of rhymes he kicked 2 diss me with reckless abandon, but(shrugs),i promise 2 be as objective as possible! 1) Your username is sorta ill.It makes one wonder what it means and keeps 'em guessin.Nice one! 2) u were kinda slick with the "widow's mite, flashy videos" rhyme.Good rhyme pattern. 3)u've got some idea of word play using "take it to church" as an example.Shows ur more than average. U've got skillz(i think),but seriously i need 2 hear more ill stuff frm u b4 i can give u an 'ace'.For nw on a scale of 1 - 10,i'll give u 6(six) by nairaland s andards. Are u a gospel artiste? Coz if u are,my evaluation would hve been more critical using scriptural standards. Check out posts from emcees like hola2ng,jduck13 on the gospel rap thread.U'll see my vision! As 4 secular emcees, check out gbade x,naijafan,raheem,dblock,kaydee,e.t.c Boyz are hot! |
@HYBRID-X its aiight son! No offence taken. We all family. @Wordsmith been workin on the reproduction & distribution of the track for radio air playn. However,my management insist i shoot the video first so i can hit T.V too.Since i dnt wanna be wack,im workin on the details. My homeboy promised to help me upload the track. When he's done,i'll let u have it.Peace! |
@omogenaija Thanx 4 giving me the benefit of the doubt.I'll send u the song soon as i convert it to mp3 to reduce its size.Peace! |
(sigh), Mmmh! No matter how objective a brother is,some person who's nurses ill feelings would still try to soil his boots in the muddy waters of controversy.I anticipated the beef this thread might create but TRUTH must be told regardless of the concommitant hostility! @HYBRID-X Go ahead son, crucify me! I wont be the first to be misunderstood and reviled by so-called religious people.Go ahead and heap all ur insults on me! I can handle it! Afterall yab na free commodity 4 market and motorpark! Even a slowpoke can come up with some dis linez. I know you're spoiling 4 a fight, but you're barking up the wrong tree.Ive got more serious battles to fight spiritually than to bother wiv u.Go battle your kind, they'll be more willing 2 serve you than waiters at Iya basira's buka! You were right though!/Im a spiritual convict/ cos ive got a conviction in my spirit:that my God deserves the illest/and that remains concrete! Nuff said! |
@omogenaija Im workin on a link to my hot new single titled "Temptation".Will post it as soon as i get it hooked up.Alternatively, i could send it 2 ur mailbox as an attachment.Savvy? |
Deep thoughts,as i reflect on the casualties of the P.H fracas.Too many lives diminishing, wasting away without knowing God had better plans for them.We gotta make a change! But we need 2 put the guns down first, then we can talk peace and justice. The streets of Lagos is hungry too.Innocent people gettin chopped up by slugs fired by vindictive armed robbers.More than 20 souls wasted in one bank robbery. All 4 the money! Yet,we carry on like nuthin happened! A moment of silence 4 those who passed away please_thank u! (puts the mic back on and walks away) |
Whassup folks! I been in solitary confinement tryna connect wt my inna child, away frm the madness and anarchy of the daily hustle. Ive got a new flow i run with now.I call it silent mic science.Check it out: i analyze life/wt my silent mic science/ my lips remained sealed/my tongue denies violence! I cant hear the gunshots/the groans & the sighings/ my soul trembles inside/but my mind screams defiance! I walk thru the streets/with the strides of a giant/no predator can take the life of /this lion! Jesus walks me with me,/protected,i defy iron/ saving souls frm the warzone/wit my silent mic science! (Deep thots,as i reflect on the casualties of the P.H fracas.Too many lives diminishing, wasting away without knowing God had better plans for them.We gotta make a change! But we need 2 put the guns down first, then we can talk peace and justice) |
