(chuckles) Dem shooted 2face? Kai,walahi banging, who gaved u dis wrong pieces of information? They have lie for u! Tuface is not shooted,i seed em yesternite for our backyard! (wink) |
As a gospel artiste in d process of becoming a legend,i wud like to state my own position: 1) comparing gospel with secular music is like matching a boutique or cinema owned by a true christian with one owned by an unbeliever and wondering why d xtian is not doing as well as the other! Duh! Isnt it obvious that unsaved people who far outnumber the saved wud patronize the unbeliever who sells what they want? Puhleeze! We are in d world but not of it.Dnt expect d world to jump each time a gospel album drops.God only intervenes in some cases to manifest his power by making them buy our CDs inspite of themselves. But God wud only do that 4 a gospel artiste who keeps his or her integrity and purity of worship.Period! 2) God created all forms of music.HE is music itself. What holds the rhythm of a song together? Can it exist without God? Can the devil himself exist without God existing? NO! The devil only twists and perverts. He never created anything and never will.Angels cannot create anything and the devil is lower than an angel: he's a fallen angel. When God made man,he made them in his likeness and delegated his creative powers to them.Men only allow Satan persuade them to use that power in creating evil things.There4 no music form is devil-originated but there are perversions of music by men whf let d devil tell them what to do with the musical talent God gave to them. 3) when it comes to listening to Secular music,i choose 2 be guided by Phil. 4:8. If the song violates any of the qualities listed in the verse no matter how sweet the song or banging the beat is. Some songs sound positive but promote anti-christian beliefs e.g songs by Bob marley,a rastafarian, who believes Haile Selassie I is God and Christ incarnate). The watchword is 'guarding ur heart with all diligence'. As a gospel rap artiste,i study rap albumz like textbooks to update my rap style and vocabulary but there are some rap Cds i wont dream of buying e.g Eminem,Filthy Cent,Three6mafia and so on.Remember, the watchword is caution.Your mind is vulnerable to lyricz packaged in music u find most appealing.Be careful! |
'For those in luv, captivity has neva tasted better!' 'Parting is such sweet sorrow!' 'Philosophers are adults who insist on asking childish questions' |
God bless u ,brother Tayo! U be man wey sabi.Abeg dey help us pray 4 sista enitan,e be like say she don overbackslide,oh! @spoilt kai! U this gal! I like ya sense of humour. That ya post go enter nite of a thousand laffs.Yeye gal! |
@nasara Ermh, did u really write this stuff coz dis is pure genius! If u didnt, pls acknowledge the source,so props go to the right quarterz. About d article itself: i agree that defining moments come in hiphop when an artiste gets the chance to lead the movement to a better future. However, the question is wether the powers that be(major stakeholders like Arista,BMG,colombia,Def Jam,EMI,e.t.c) would allow such an artiste succeed. Kweli's album "The beautiful Struggle" should hve done the trick if the hiphop community really wanted a change. Cannibus is still hot even though stigmatized as a 'Commercial Failure'. So many artistes wt skillz bringing out phenomenal stuff go unsung, largely unheeded by the mainly mainstream hiphop consumers. Rev. Jesse Jackson is out there now,but hiphop headz aint listening! The question we shud ask is'are we ready 4 change?' (Thank God 4 naija hiphop.Mode9 is having his moment. But wt growing interest in hiphop by multinationals and power-brokers,hw long b4 we fall into the same trap of mainstream commercialism?). Food 4 thot. |
@orikinla now, that makes the situation scarier. When did the machine take the place of good old fashioned prose writing? I fear the possibility of aesthetics and art in general becoming soulless products of an electronic machine churned out for mass consumption by a populace who have lost their sense of d truly abstract and genius of man. The day man abdicates his role as sole creator and lets the machine think 4 him,he loses his immortality and becomes truly empty-minded! |
That statement could hardly be justified in the light of the present craze 4 information and enlightenement. However,i concede that present day technology hardly encourages the use of our imaginative powers thereby resulting in human dependence on electronically processed information to the detriment of intellectualism and pursuit of knowlegde 4 knowledge's sake! The phrase: 'mindz like empty roomz'. Ummh, A little abrasive but isnt dat an element of truth? |
(picks the remains of thefanyyi and stuffs them into a body bag). @paddy_lo I knew dat dude wz gonna get massacred, but i was hoping i wud make it in time 4 his funeral.Guess,Naijafan was right, there'll be no burial.Paddy done ate d poor dude 4 brunch! (sighs and walks away). |
Once in a while every rapper gets d love jonez up in his bonez.Pls allow me digress frm the usual theme of machismo and braggadocio harped on by most rapperz and express hw i felt d first time cupid shot his arrow in my direction. Mic Check: i met a gurl once/wt a voice like keisha's/ shorty stole d keyz/2 my hrt like Alicia! With her tight jeans/nice things/fresh white nikez/ lizzie had me twisted/like a puppet on tight stringz! I laid back/tried 2 analyze my emotionz/ was it luv,or waz it lust?/was i down or just coasting? Next time i scoped H.E.R/i played it cool, relaxin/ saw her with d next dude/i couldnt help stressin! I had neva been in luv b4/young and inexperienced/ i played it like an amateur/told her in an instant/how she made me weak in the kneez and broke my resistance! For one split second/i believed she felt the same way/ till i heard d newz/she got married on d same day! Damn! This luv thing is crazy, yall. |
Public Service Announcement: I hereby wish to express my most profound appreciation to everyone(friendz & foez alike) who made this thread come alive. I neva really thot it wud get these many views and brouhaha. Special thanx to the dysfunctional duo -naija_diva and A-40,for their loving support. They just couldnt stay away from d thread,no matter how pissed they pretended 2 be.Too bad its over now, kidz, its past ur bedtime. My most respectful felicitationz to all reggae bredrin & sisthren who passed a vote of no confidence on me.A wise man learns from his enemiez,so i accept ur insults and improve my patois using ur own wordz to update my vocabulary. As for my peeps who held me down on this thread(HYBRID-X,Wordsmith & Heyo).I owe u guyz.Thanx 4 d support! In conclusion,i wud like to add that my decision to close the thread is simply bcoz it has derailed from its original intendment,4 which i accept responsibility. All i wanted was to talk reggae muzik which i luv 4 its positivity and not to trade cheap shotz wt unruly children. I apologize to Nairaland."Strickly fe reggae massive" is officially closed! N.B Anyone who re-opens the thread takes full responsibility for it.Peace! |
@Islander U see the kind of reception i get from ur boy A-40.Some people wud rather hang on to their bloated ego than walk the path of peace and reconciliation. U know i tried.Well, im done tryna reason wt a juvenile delinquent who feelz too big to answer a simple question. I can serve 'em anyhow he wants it! @A-40 wordsmith was right about u. @HBRID-X (chuckles) u can alwayz go back,U know! Dem cows cant wait to serve u a sip of dat 'milkshake'. U were right about d fulani gurlz though (gosh)! Those femalez have natural beauty, man (compared to the over-made up,i-badly-need-a-makeover,psychadelic,'omoge lagos' gurlz sashaying across my street, all day like they actually have a destination). The north is very serene but the calm is a deceptive and dangerous one.I prefer the obvious madness of Lagos. That way iam always on guard! I wouldnt trade the giddy excitement of lagos for a thousand fulani maidenz.I was custom built for the streets of Lagos.Though i bear the streetz a grudge for stealing a significant slice of our life-span stuck in traffic. But we still regulate! Lagos too much jooo! |
@Wordsmith & HYBRID-X Guyz, ive been in transit all my life! Indigene of Lagos, raised and schooled in Kaduna, served at Bauchi, spent time at Jos,Makurdi,Yola and Abuja. Came back to my home state and settled at Ijanikin where i hooked up with my church. Got a 9 - 5 job at ikeja and had to relocate to Isolo. Next destination unknown. Got plans to tour the world soon as the album drops.Might stage a concert in the Bronx (birthplace of Hip hop). All in God's time. |

@Islander Now that we've broken d ice and acting civilized,i wud like to make some clarifications to wit: when i started this thread,i neva made claims to being born or raised in Jamaica. All i wanted to do was identify wt the culture, discuss my favorite reggae artiste and link up wt as many reggae fanatiks as cared to join in. I admit my patois is a little suspect which was more the reason why i needed to socialize wt other yardies and update my vocabulary! The major element of reggae musik that fascinated me was the afrocentricity of it all.I saw myself as part of the movement and embraced its values as mine. All i wanted was some 'peace, luv and niceness' but instead dat brat and her delinquent ex-boyfriend tried to play hopscotch on my grave! I must also express my disappointment at the disposition of the so-called true rasta who never gave me the benefit of doubt, but instead violated the values of rasta by discriminating against their own black bredrin! How can i be termed fake for identifying with another black man's culture, for crying out loud? Would it be sane for me to term islander a fake nigerian just because she didnt grow up here? Please, grow up! I wud rather encourage her to speak my dialect and say 'oloshi!' to anyone who calls her fake.Dats d true african! And by the way,i learnt more patois from your disses than any movie wud hve taught me.So anyone who still has beef can bring it on.I'll learn u like the back of my hand and then smack u wit the back of my hand! For all those who didnt rat on a brotha while the battle was raging,i'll do the same for you, anytime! U can count on dat like one of ur fingers! |
