The 14 records include registration renewal, maintenance, oil change, balancing tires, fabric guard installation,  washing+detailing etc. In order to save space and time, I narrow down to records like - how many owners, last odometer reading, accidents and last sale/transaction reported by CARFAX.

The car was disabled after the accident but since it went on to be registered with a clean title, reasonable to assume damage was either minor/ moderate or it was repaired satisfactorily to the extent that it was not declared a loss/salvage vehicle. Also safe to assume the car is in working condition and no longer disabled.

Loss/salvage is when cost of repairs after an accident exceeds 75% of the car's pre accident value. Rebuilt occurs when a salvage/loss vehicle is repaired and passes some form of state road worthiness inspection in the US. Some people would not be concerned about the accident because it didn't result in a salvage/total loss title but if you're not comfortable with the accident history, stay away from it.

The car qualifies for CARFAX buyback guarantee. CARFAX will buy this vehicle back if you find that any of these severe problems (salvage, total loss, rebuilt, odometer problems or lemon issues ) were reported by a Department of Motor Vehicles and were not included in this report.

You can find the VIN (I hear it's also called chassis or engine number) at the following locations:

On the door frame/door post of the front doors (usually driver's but sometimes passenger's)
- On the dash near the windshield
- On the engine itself (machined pad on front of engine)
- On the car's firewall
- In the left-hand inner wheel arch
- On the steering wheel/steering column
- On the radiator support bracket
- On your car's title, registration, guarantee/maintenance book or on the declarations page of your auto insurance policy
