TOTAL LOSS means the cost to repair after an accident exceeds 75% of the pre-accident value of the car.

Calling it a write-off would be about right though cars like this are often repaired and end up with a rebuilt title after passing some sort of state inspection to make sure they are still roadworthy. There's no indication of this on CARFAX for the CRV.

We need a Moderator on this forum to enforce this VIN issue. As this website becomes more and more popular, we see people advertising more everyday and that`s good but getting some of them to post the VIN is like pulling teeth.

There are individuals who have taken it upon themselves to provide reminders to the posters but people do not always listen to them. Please, let`s appoint a Moderator. igwe1 is my choice for obvious reasons (see his posts in the Auto section) but if there are others out there, no probem.

We are all working towards the day when our country will no longer serve as a dumping ground for cars that are not roadworthy. It bothers me that our importers do not provide full disclosure about salvage, flood, etc vehicles even with the kinds of profit margin they make on cars like this. 

Makes me wonder how many deaths on our highways are simply due to firing up a car that is no longer roadworthy. If a salvage car is still good, nothing stopping the importer from repairing and getting a rebuilt title before shipping to Nigeria and nothing wrong with providing full disclosure to the buyer either.

I try not to put my nose in if I'm not buying but my younger brother drives one and gotta say:
