MeGaStReEt:Do you seriously believe this nonsense you wrote??I mean seeeeeeeeeriously? It's one thing to have bad bellus for The Arsenal, yet it's another kettle of fish entirely when you allow such bad bellus to impair your sense of fair judgement I came back from a trip, was so tired and was only able to watch the first half,IMO my boys didn't play badly, they were not just sharp enough. My MOTM is most defo Jack Wilshere, the way he rushed to Chamakh's rescue by shoving Carrick outta the way when he wanted to bully Chamakh deserved multiple playbacks on my PVR As for the goal,Park did so much to flick the ball in a loop, such effort should be rewarded with a goal, only it shouldn't have been against The Arsenal Oh back to Wilshere again, that tackle on Evra was a way of shoving the many trash he had spewed in the build up to the game down his effing throat |

Members of Aba branch of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, said the military did a great job by tracking down the criminal and silencing him as he refused to turn himself in to face the law. Chief Uche Awa, chairman of Aba branch of the NBA said: “We are at home with the workings of the Military Task Force. The killing of Osisikankwu is indeed the highpoint of their excellent job so far. We hope the other criminals will turn themselves in. We thank God. “Instead of turning himself in to avail himself of opportunity of due trial under the law, he decided to commit suicide by engaging in a shoot out with the army.” Also reacting, Abia State branch of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, commended the task force for fishing out and killing the dreaded criminal. Its chairman, Comrade Ifeanyi Onwuneme, said that though CLO was against capital punishment “but not in this case, considering the number of people he has so far killed and women raped”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/12/how-osisikankwu-was-killed-by-jtf/ |

WikiLeaks: How Rice Influenced Gambari’s Sack from Burma The former United States Secretary of State Condoleza Rice influenced the sack of Nigeria’s Ibrahim Gambari as the United Nations Secretary General's Special Representative to Burma in October 2008, the latest diplomatic cable published on the whistle-blowing website, WikiLeaks revealed yesterday. The latest expose by the whistle-blowing website came amidst the United States’ reaction yesterday to the release of diplomatic cables from its mission in Nigeria by WikiLeaks, saying the revelations would not strain its relationship with Nigeria. It also emerged from WikiLeaks yesterday that Royal Dutch Shell said last year that if Nigeria's oil reforms went ahead as planned, the company could lose 80 percent of its offshore oilfield acreage, while drug maker Pfizer, allegedly hired investigators to find evidence of corruption against former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Michael Aondoakaa. According to cable published by WikiLeaks, Rice in a memo to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon dated October 7, 2008 and titled “Repla-cement of SRSG Gambari for Burma Mission” complained of a loss of confidence in Gambari among leaders of the democracy movement in Burma. Rice said the US State Department viewed with growing concern the lack of progress on core political steps that the UN called on Burma to take. “Indeed, it appears that Gambari's access to regime officials and ability to secure results has only contracted over the course of these missions. “His access to democratic leaders has been constrained by both the regime and more recently a loss of confidence in Gambari among leaders of the democracy movement. “Gambari appears unrealistically upbeat, pursuing and reporting progress on peripheral matters (e.g., a possible economic forum, the possible placement of a UN staff member in Rangoon) that are a distraction from what the Security Council has articulated as critical goals and identified as Gambari's mandate,” wrote Rice. Rice said considering the key role of the good offices mission and Gambari's inability to secure significant progress from the Burmese regime, Gambari should be dismissed as SRSG for Burma. “This demarche should occur as soon as practical,” demanded Rice in the memo. “Special Representative Gambari's fourth and latest trip to Burma continued a disturbing pattern of regime-managed itineraries; restricted access to key regime officials and activists; and complete lack of progress on the critical issues that form the core of Mr. Gambari's mandate,” wrote Rice. She said while the main responsibility for lack of progress in Burma should be attributed to regime intransigence, “Gambari has not been willing to acknowledge it.” Rice continued: “This lack of progress, Mr. Gambari's inappropriate claims of success regarding peripheral issues, and his unwillingness to press the regime more forcefully for progress have caused us to conclude that his continued involvement undermines the good offices mission and should therefore be ended. “We have no wish to embarrass Mr. Gambari and have no intent to link any removal with a lack of progress in Burma, but we would ask that you find a way to terminate gracefully his participation in this particular mission. “In particular, we cannot support further travel to Burma for discussions with regime leadership by Mr. Gambari as part of the good offices mission.” Meanwhile, the United States yesterday reacted to the revelations by WikiLeaks and corruption charges filed against its former vice president Dick Cheney by the Nigerian government saying "we do not believe that there will be a basis for further action, but we will look into it." Fielding questions from journalists at the State Department on Thursday, shortly after a closed-door meeting between Secretary of State, Senator Hillary Clinton, and Foreign Affairs Minister, Odein Ajumogo-bia, Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau for Public Affairs, Philip Crowley, said, "We are building a very strong relationship with Nigeria, the US-Nigeria Binational Commission is a reflection of that. "We are working on our mutual interests. It is the mutual interest between the United States and Nigeria that really governs our relationship." Crowley also disclosed that Washington was in touch with Abuja before WikiLeaks released the documents from Nigeria. The diplomat said US had also been in touch with almost every country before and since these documents were released because it does not want it to undermine either any bilateral relationship or any regional cooperation. "We understand that these documents have been released and we condemn the release of these documents. We think they undermine the ability of countries to cooperate together and that cooperation is very important. "Look at what is happening with respect to Cote d'Ivoire, it is in fact your country, the African Union and ECOWAS that are sending a strong signal to President (Laurent) Gbagbo of Cote d'Ivoire and it is rightly important in this circumstance that you have the kind of international cooperation necessary to send clear signal and apply pressure to resolve the situation," he said. While noting that the issue was not discussed at the meeting between Clinton and Ajumogobia, Crowley, in a general reference to the leakage of the documents, said "we don't know what is going to happen in future but we will be willing to answer any question that may arise from the issue." Earlier at a joint press briefing between Clinton and Ajumogobia, THISDAY had sought to know if there were possibilities that former Vice President Cheney would appear in Nigerian courts to face the corruption charges slammed against him by the federal government based on the Mutual Assistance Treaty between the two countries. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commi-ssion had on Tuesday filed corruption charges against Cheney in respect of the decade long Halliburton bribery scandal to secure multibillion dollar liquified natural gas contracts from Nigeria. Cheney served as the firm's top chief executive during the period. Responding to the question, Clinton said, "Well, I’m not going to comment on any legal matter. Once an issue is in the court system, we will handle it through appropriate legal channels. “So that’s got to be the way that we’re going to respond. But of course, we do not believe that there will be a basis for further action, but we will look into it." http://www.thisdayonline.info/nview.php?id=189657 |

Wenger baffled by Almunia exit talk Arsène Wenger has rubbished speculation suggesting Manuel Almunia is leaving the Club. Someone claiming to be the Spaniard’s agent this week stated the goalkeeper is seeking a January move back to La Liga but as far as Wenger is aware, Almunia doesn’t even have an agent. The 33-year-old is currently nearing a return to action after a troublesome elbow injury and any talk of a transfer is news to the manager, who fully expects the 33-year-old to remain at Arsenal. “I heard it is his agent who talks about that but at the moment he has no agent. “So I cannot see what kind of agent can talk on his behalf. We never talked about him leaving, never. “That is not my concern before a big game.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-baffled-by-almunia-exit-talk I dey laff ooo |
