As expected of APC. Profit in chaos. Governor Adeleke should know the game already. |
Falana also pointed out the discriminatory nature of the practice, stating that while low-income individuals accused of minor theft are paraded, high-profile suspects involved in massive corruption scandals are never subjected to such treatment.Very good point. “The reputational harm from these parades is irreversible. Many suspects are later acquitted, but the public never forgets the initial humiliation,” he said.Very true. But in Nigeria where the rule of law is very dicey, it can become very suspicious where even convicted felons are silently released or more. |
Frame 1 — March 2007: NAFDAC shut down Anambra market over fake drugs. Peter Obi, then Governor, intervened for the market to be reopened. And he carefully ignored the valid reasons for the plea for reopening, just to score quick political points. Well done Mr Aide to the Governor. The problem of this social media is a one-sided narrative, and many people are not able to keep up. |
That's why we should not talk when angry. Even though social media gives us an avenue to vent, it also affords us the opportunity to THINK before we TYPE. Make the most use of it before your words land you where you don't want. (Someone who runs a country should take their sub but hey, let's not derail this conversation.) Lesson for all! |
US dwellers, it's well with you o. But that must be some serious winds in Toronto. |
So unfortunate. May his soul RIP. |
May the soul of the departed RIP. Abeg let's take it easy on ourselves and be safe. |
“Thankfully, his party won at the Appeal last week. And as peace-loving leader, he appealed to security agencies to enforce the judgement of the court. How can such a man be accused of a destabilisation plot. I think anyone accusing Oyetola of violence needs to have his/her head properly examined.Nice. Very nice. Adeleke, the ball is now in your court. How do you respond? |
Resources are plenty in Africa. It's just unfortunate that leadership is the key problem. |
This increment is misguided and at the very wrong time, but it looks like this government knows that nothing will come of it. And if anyone tries anything, they know what to do. May God have mercy on Nigeria and Nigerians. |
Yankee101:For those interested, this is the unedited clip of the Congressman's words and context - https://www.c-span.org/program/house-committee/house-hearing-on-usaid-part-1/655738 (listen from 1:03). And unfortunately, the actual details of such funding were not made public. Just words. Accusations. No evidence. The US Congressman, Scott Perry, has been in Congress since 2013 and served (and even currently serving) on the Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees, so supposedly, he should know better about USAID's activities over the years. To make such claims without proofs is just political theatrics. And people in Nigeria are going crazy. Does that mean that USAID is free of such accusations? No. But open the books. The US Congress has the authority to check their books and bring out the details to the public, and say, we found such and such and it does not (or no longer) align with our foreign interests, so we will do such and such. How difficult is that? But political drama is better than actual work. Instead of holding political leaders in Nigeria responsible, we are always shouting "external influence". We need to get our acts together here. This Ali Ndume was once Majority leader and Majority Whip no to mention that he has even received a USAID award, so he should know better. But no, he's on TV posturing. |
Would be good to know the details of the actual work done by either chambers of the National Assembly on the budget, not to mention the fact that the budget year has spent more than 40 days already. |
The North-East needs to get their acts together on the security front to maintain and enjoy infrastructural development. |
Lagos trying to get things right |
Sorry for your loss YE. Aketi don move on. Prayers has its place. Doctors have their place. Don't get it twisted. |
Abeggi... Did the North not overwhelmingly support the President in the last election? Nothing substantial points that won't be the case in the next 2 years. |
It looks like you will continue to not have your way Mr Official, cos this your submission get as e be for this country. |
Notorious bandit leader Kachalla Dan Lukuti, known for orchestrating deadly attacks in Zamfara and Katsina states, has reportedly died after suffering from a mysterious illness that left him barking like a dog before his death.Even though God does not want anyone to perish, especially one that has wreaked havoc and pain to a host of communities, this would come as good news to the people of that region. Hopefully, the reign of terror of his bandits come to a full stop. |
OPEC expressed optimism about Nigeria’s oil sector, pointing to the Dangote Refinery as a potential game-changer for the industry. This will contribute to increase in the FX reserve and maybe some naira stability (as CBN continues to fund the BDCs to achieve some balance). This will also attract some sorts of investment in Nigeria in the Oil & Gas sector and government bonds. “The oil sector remains central to the economy, and the Dangote Refinery reaching full production capacity should help stabilize the petroleum product supply and possibly lower petrol prices,” the report stated.Let's not deceive ourselves with the hope of lower petrol prices. |
![]() The political class continues to deliver steady drama, instead of solutions to serious national issues. |
President was poorly advised, okay. So what's the solution? Since NASS is acting as a rubber-stamp arm of government, that bill is moving forward. |
Real-life problems with short-hand solutions will lead to long--term problems. |
1. He did not need to tap her. If she was in the way, he should have asked her to leave. If she was not, ignore and move on. We live in a world today that little things can wreck a man. He does not need to have touched her at all. He had every right to say he didn't want to be in the video. 2. She obviously has issues. Yes, the tapping might have triggered her, but it shows she has an elevated sense of herself. She was doing the wrong thing in the right place. This is why schools need to update policies regularly to protect both lecturers and students from madness of either parties. |
“We are going to take it [Gaza],” Trump said. It's good he has his own mind. He can't come around to blaming anybody if sh!t hits the fan. I pity the Arabs if he pulls through with this plan. Unfortunately, he's old so it's the coming generations that would feel the effect of this overbearing decision. |
Fair point. No more old people leading this country abeg but hey, would they give the young ones the chance? "No, power is not given. It must be grabbed." ![]() |
I'm imagining the content and success criteria for this exam. |
Day to stay at home. |
I saw this news and my initial reaction is why is his first airstrike in Africa. Why not the ME or LATAM? But if it got these terrorists ravaging the continent, that's a good one. |
Hopefully, the officers in care of these arms should already be in custody. That should be the first thing. |
He assured that the economic policies of the present administration would turn around the fortunes of Nigerians for good. When exactly will it turn the fortunes around? 2025? 2026? 2029? There is a saying that you will know the weekend that will be good from Friday. These current economic policies continue to look draconian, and not to the best interest of Nigerians, especially when the political class continue to live in outrageous opulence and corruption. Ce n'est pas bien. |
And this is someone's role model. Unfortunately, some will agree with him. |
As usual, nepotism and political jingoism is the order of the day in key appointments. Why do we cry when others call it a banana republic? |
