EniHolar: I will like to advise you to move to the new job in the Commercial Bank. Why?
- What if the salary is reviewed from 50k to 60k in the MFB, will you be satisfied? I don't think so. - You have already written you resignation letter and you're awaiting acknowledgement. If you reconsider staying, writing a letter to cancel the resignation will look unreasonable. - They are increasing the salary, not because they want to satisfy you, but because 'others' are leaving and they want to tie you down keep you for their use. That means they know their workers are underpaid. - Life is a risk. Staying in MFB is a risk. Moving to Commercial Bank is a risk. You've explored one, I'll advise you move to the next one. - Regardless of all the pieces of advice on NL, follow your instinct.
#MyThoughts For me, this is your best bet... I also want you to know that you best way to grow is not staying on one particular job for unnecessarily too long.... I am speaking from experience. Another thing you should know is that, for any where you are working, once you tender your resignation letter and they try to keep you by offering you what seems lucrative, please don't be tempted to stay back, because if anything happens and the company is trying to downside or whatever, you are the 1st on the list..... A word is enough for the wise! |

NnolimNzubechi: Hello Nairalanders. It's A Long Read But Please Bear With Me
Am the only child, Am A Boy,my mom died when I was 3 years and am the only child.so it's been only me and dad since and his girlfriends..
Recently I started smoking, He noticed it..My dad too smokes but only cigarette,He has been smoking past a Decade Now But He looks very Healthy And Chubby Too So You won't Know He Smokes Unless Your Saw Him smoking.
So He told Me To Stop Smoking,And He Was Angry With Me For A Week plus,Later The Anger Reduced..He Taught I Smoked Only Cigarette but I Smoke Both cigar and Arizona Weed,Jus those Two.i Don't Take alcohol. I Stopped Smoking Though,It Was on Saturday Being Feb 4,That I Relapsed,I Smoked A.Z,So My Dad And Her Current Girlfriend Came Back,She went To The Backyard And Saw the Aches and The Brown Rizzla..Then she went and Told My Dad,My Dad Came Into My Room And Started Saying Plenty Things,Lastly He told me To Leave His House Tomorrow Being Sunday Feb 05. He then left My Room, I Was Shocked,I Didn't What To Do Or Say To Him
So in The Morning I went Out To Buy Something,When I Came Back He Locked The Back Door From inside,So I Couldn't Open It With My Keys.I Knocked And Told Him It Was Me,He Told Me To Go Back To Where I Come From And i Should Not Knock Ever Again. This Made Angry,He Didn't Even Give Me The Chance To Apologize,I Used Vex And Told Him Oya Let Me Carry My Property,He Said He Will Throw it For Me,That He Is Already Packing My Belongings,Few Minutes Later He Threw It for Me,I Was Down So He Threw It From Up...So I Left to Stay With a Friend in another State.
So My Question Now Is what My Father Did The Right thing? My Telling Me To Leave His House Cos I smoke, Am 19 Years Of Age, I Will be 20 This Year.I heard too Many ulcers and Helicobacter pylori Which Leads To Stomach Cancer,Yet He Told Me To Leave, He Was The Buying Medicine For Me But He Knows The Ulcer And Helicobacter pylori Hasn't Healed Final. He Knows I Don't Have Money To Fend For Myself Yet,i Always Go To His Shop To Help Him With His business.
What He Did By Telling Me To Leave Is It Right?I Don't SMOKE Outside,I only SMOKE In Our Flat,Cos I Don't Want People To Know I SmokE,My Dad Will be Ashamed When People Tell Him I Smoke ,He is a Very Popular Man Here..
Today I Chatted Him And Told Him Am Sorry For My actions,The First Thing He Told Me Was (you will never see good In your life)..I Didn't Mind Though The Curse though, I Begged Him,And He Told Me To Come Back,But Am Really Not Happy With Him,What if I Have Accident?what if I was Kidnapped? He didn't Think Of Those ones instead He sent Me Parking, I Have always Be A Good son which he tells me Frequently,I don't give him Headache.Just Only That Smoke
Even Though He Told Me To Come Back Am Still annoyed With Him,Instead of Him to Help Me To Stop ,He Told Me To Leave His House And Go continue Smoking. Those Words Hurt Me....
Should I Go back To Him And Start Planing To Save Money And Relocate?Cos I don't Have a Dime Now,And My ulcer Hasn't Healed Complete...I haven't even Eaten Good Food since yesterday,Just one okpa ... My Main Question Are (Did My Dad Do The Right Thing By Telling Me To Leave,Should I Go Back To Stay With Him??Or should I Stay Here At My friend Place and start Hustling For Myself??
Please Moderators Should help Move to Front page,Am in Deep confusion Now.Thanks What ur dad did as far as am concerned is good, it is called correctional act..... U as an individual is making ur dad go through pain codedly because I am very sure he is not happy that u are sick and u smoking again will only make ur sickness worse..... I think it's best u go back home just like the prodigal son.... Pls try and stop smoking for ur own sake and for u to help ur dad's mental health.... Thank you |

Health › Re: I Fall Sick Whenever My Hair Grows, What Could Be The Cause? by ratio4real(m): 2:26am On Apr 16, 2020 |
TalkTalkTwins: Hello guys,
Good day everyone!
I just have a little problem, though it is not a problem except that I like my hair grown... haha! Okay, whenever I let my hair grow to a particular stage, I fall sick. I mean, seriously sick that I can't stand up or walk.
I noticed it first in my 100L in school, since that was the first time I was opportune to let my hair grow so well. The sickness came midnight, and in the morning I rushed to get a cut and got fine without any medication.
The second time, I was in 200L. I got sick and called my mum to tell her I was going to return home for treatment, my hair was grown and I knew she'd complain about it and visited the barber first.
When I reached home same day, no medications, no treatments at all, I became very fine.
In my third year again, I let my hair grow. It was giving me signs that I'd soon get sick, and I ignored it. It came again midnight, and I couldn't sleep. Fever, headaches, stomach pains, legs were aching and I could barely see.
In the morning I rushed to the barber's shop, as early as 6 o'clock. I didn't even let him carve my hair... haha!
He just barbed me, I rushed home and fell on my bed. I didn't lock the doors, no bathing, nothing. When I woke up, the sickness was mysteriously gone.
Now I'm confused because this is so abnormal. I have only heard of people who had dreadlocks, and would get sick whenever they barb them. Why is my own so different? Worst surprise, I'm an identical twin but it doesn't happen to my brother.
Has anyone else had or heard of a similar case? What could be the solution? I have made tons of Google searches and yet no reasonable help at all.
I asked some people and they were telling me to ask my parents. my biological parents are no more around and I don't even know who else to ask...Lol I do have same feelings too.... Wen my hair gets above 2weeks, I usually have headaches but not Dat I fall sick....! But in my case if I decide to ignore it for another 2weeks and bear d headaches, I will eventually be fine |

Politics › Re: Why I Won’t Attend Fayemi’s Inauguration – Fayose by ratio4real(m): 8:37pm On Oct 11, 2018 |
6Ebisco: The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has explained that he may not honour invitation to attend the inauguration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi because of the erratic nature of politicians.
The Governor added that he had promised to appear at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on October 16, which he said coincided with day of the swearing in.
The governor also advised that whoever emerges Speaker in the state House of Assembly should work for the progress of the state.
Fayemi had on Wednesday disclosed that Fayose was specially being expected at his swearing in on Tuesday, saying he is free to attend the ceremony as Ekiti leader.
Speaking at a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Fayose said the EFCC may have the opportunity of harassing him if he reneged on his promise to appear before it next Tuesday.
“Politicians are erratic people, if I should attend the programme, some politicians may use the chance to harass me even when they are not sent by Fayemi.
“This will further destroy relationship. Issues between me and Fayemi is not personal. I have been cooperating with the committee set up by Fayemi on this transition
“Again, I have to be in EFCC office in Abuja on Tuesday. But let me say clearly that I am ready to appear before any Panel set up by incoming government to probe my administration”, he said.
Fayose stated that he has not committed Ekiti to any debt, either by way of bond or bank loans since he took over in 2014.
“Contrary to what they are saying that I have committed Ekiti to a huge debt, I didn’t commit Ekiti with a dime. Whatever we do in government, history will forever remain after us”.
He urged Fayemi to deploy the N327 million kept in bank by his administration to complete the new Oja Oba market for the use of Ekiti traders.
The Governor added that he decided to abandon the civic centre project started by Fayemi and constructed a new market because it was not a priority to the people of the state.
Fayose said the newly built Ministry of Finance shall be named after former Minister of National Planning, Chief Ayo Ogunlade to appreciate his contributions to the state.
The governor said he decided not to name any project after himself on the basis of his belief that such was morally wrong.
“The flyover, the new governor’s office, the roads, the Oja Oba market, the Funmilayo Olayinka Women development centre and other projects will speak for me even if I refuse to name projects after myself,” he said.
Fayose said he won’t dabble into the crisis rocking the State Assembly, which culminated in the removal of the Speaker, Hon Kola Oluwawole and his deputy, Sina Animasaun on Thursday.
Three All Progressives Congress (APC) and 11 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday removed the principal officers and installed an APC lawmaker, Hon Adeniran Alagbada, as the new Speaker.
Fayose said: “I won’t dabble into what is happening in the assembly. Whether they elect Oluwawole or Alagbada, such person must believe that he was elected to serve Ekiti people.
“I enjoin them to cooperate with Fayemi to move Ekiti forward. I don’t want to hear of any impeachment against Fayemi, if truly we are here to serve”, he advised.

Investment › Having Spear Cash And Planning On Investing In A Profitable Venture? by ratio4real(op): 5:35pm On May 17, 2018 |
Crowd funding is the new way to go..... Yes crowd funding! What is crowd funding? Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet. Crowdfunding is a form of crowdsourcing and alternative finance. In 2015, a worldwide estimate totaling over US$34 billion was raised by crowdfunding. Although similar concepts can also be executed through mail-order subscriptions, benefit events, and other methods, the term crowdfunding refers to Internet-mediated registries. This modern crowdfunding model is generally based on three types of actors: the project initiator who proposes the idea or project to be funded, individuals or groups who support the idea, and a moderating organization (the "platform" that brings the parties together to launch the idea. peterdrury: Good evening everyone, in my place of work, my colleagues have this habit of been wasteful. I recently gained employment in a bank as a contract staff. My task is to count notes and give it to whoever is in charge to post it(Head teller). In processing this cash, I may need to use a piece of paper to write the cash when it's not up to a pack(100) and also, the use of rubber band is needed too. Here comes the things I find absurd, my colleagues don't care about the rubber band and they will rather tear a new wrapper rather than use previous ones or the ones brought in by customers. When I try to pick these papers and rubber band from the floor to use, they call me a JJC. They said I should not bother, that the bank has money, they will purchase it when we need it.
I totally feel it's wrong, they can't use their own properties the way the use that of the bank.
I wrote this cause I want to know if this is what happens in every work place, do guys engage in this act of not handling company properties efficiently? I hate waste when it involves me directly. Politics › Magu: Saraki Shouldn’t Be Senate President, Says Ndume Http://punchng.com/magu-s by ratio4real(op): 8:26pm On Mar 16, 2017 |
Former Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, has criticised the Nigerian Senate over the rejection of Mr Ibrahim Magu as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The Senate had on Wednesday refused to confirm Magu, who appeared at the upper chamber for the second time, over an integrity report from the Department of State Services.
But, speaking on a Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, Ndume faulted the decision, noting that if the senate could refuse to confirm Magu over the failure of an integrity test, then Bukola Saraki who has a case in court should not be the Senate President.
He said, “We have all been accused, I have been accused of sponsoring Boko Haram, the Senate president is still going to court,” Ndume said.
“Same as other members who have cases in court, yet they occupy seats in the senate. So, if you say because of the allegations, he (Magu) should not be confirmed, then I should not be a sitting senator and Saraki should not be there as Senate president.” |

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that Mr. Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application. Azibaola and his wife, Stella were arraigned before Justice Dimgba for allegedly receiving a $40m contract from embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. The couple alongside their company, Oneplus Holding Limited, were arraigned on seven counts bordering on money laundering and fraud. While the court ruled that Stella could continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted her by the EFCC, the judge adjourned till Wednesday to rule on the bail application for Azibaola. http://www.punchng.com/court-demands-jonathans-cousin-kuje-prison/ |
Politics › Onitsha Most Polluted City In The World — WHO by ratio4real(op): 7:48am On May 15, 2016 |
http://www.punchng.com/onitsha-polluted-city-world/The World Health Organisation has named Onitsha in Anambra State as the most polluted city in the world. WHO, in its latest report on Global Urban Ambient Air Pollution, stated that a study of Onitsha’s water pollution found more than 100 petrol stations in the city, selling low-quality fuel, many rubbish dumps, fuel spills along with high levels of arsenic, mercury, lead, copper and iron in its water. It noted that the city’s metal industries, private hospitals and workshops were heavy polluters emitting chemical, hospital and household waste and sewage. The WHO said, “The level of pollution in Onitsha is getting increasingly serious. It is difficult to get accurate measurements in Africa. You can get super-high readings, but ideally the measurements should be done over a year to include different seasons and times of day. The reading in Onitsha may be representative but not altogether reliable.” Onitsha with a population of 350, 000, tops the list in the WHO report, with a PM10 measure of 594. It is followed by Peshawar in Pakistan and Zabol in Iran. In a statement issued on Thursday, the global health body stated that more than 80 per cent of people living in urban areas were exposed to air quality levels that exceed WHO limits, while all regions of the world are affected, populations in low-income cities are the most impacted. According to the latest urban air quality database, 98 per cent of cities in low- and middle income countries with more than 100, 000 inhabitants do not meet WHO air quality guidelines. However, it noted that in high-income countries, the percentage decreases to 56 per cent. In the past two years, the WHO added that its database, now covering 3, 000 cities in 103 countries, had nearly doubled, with more cities measuring air pollution levels and recognising the associated health impacts. “Air pollution is a major cause of disease and death. It is good news that more cities are stepping up to monitor air quality, so when they take actions to improve it, they have a benchmark. When dirty air blankets our cities, the most vulnerable urban populations are the most impacted,” WHO Assistant-Director General, Family, Women and Children’s Health, Dr. Flavia Bustreo, said. |
Politics › US To Return $350m Stolen By Nigerian Generals by ratio4real(op): 5:36am On May 15, 2016 |
The United States government has reassured the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government that it would return at least $350m of stolen money from Nigeria.
US Secretary of State, John Kerry, made this pledge during the Anti-corruption Summit Plenary at Lancaster House London, United Kingdom.
He said, “This money goes somewhere, folks. When I read that tens of billions of dollars were stolen from President (Muhammadu) Buhari’s country by generals and put into other nations, some of it in our country – and we are now working to restore $350 million back, and there’s more to be restored to the people.
“And every one of those million dollars that comes back to a country is the opportunity to provide a desk and a chair and school and shelter and health care and meet the needs of nations. That is why we organise ourselves in the world around rule of law and in an effort to try to provide for our citizens,”
According to him, criminal activity is a destroyer of nation-states because it contributes to drug trafficking and arms smuggling. http://www.punchng.com/us-return-350m-stolen-nigerian-generals/

Politics › Buhari Not Sound In Economy, Foreign Affairs —obasanjo by ratio4real(op): 4:33pm On May 14, 2016 |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says President Muhammadu Buhari may not do well in economy and foreign affairs, except in military matters.
“Buhari is not a very hot person on the economy and foreign affairs,” Obasanjo said.
The former President stated this on Monday at the third International Conference on African Development Issues — themed, “Driving inclusive and sustainable development in Africa: Models, methods and policies” — organised by Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.
While reacting to a question posed to him by a member of the audience: “Is there any hope for Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari?”, Obasanjo replied, “Is there any hope for Nigeria under this administration? I came back from Geneva, Switzerland a few days ago to attend a conference titled, ‘Are elections giving democracy a bad name?’ We had an election, we elected a leader and the good thing about democracy is that the power you have to elect a leader is also the power you have to remove him. I am saying this because I said earlier that if you don’t see any leader that has done well in the 56 years of Nigeria’s independence, then let us forget about Nigeria.
“I will tell you what I know and I will tell you what I don’t know. I know Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. He served under me in the military. His characteristics that I know, his behaviour that I know, he has not deviated from them. He was never a perfect man, he is not a perfect man and no leader can ever be a perfect man because they are human beings. But if you read my book, what I said about him is correct. He is not a hot person when it comes to economy. He is not a very hot person when it comes to foreign affairs. But he will do well in matters of military and he will do well in fighting Boko Haram.”
The former president also said he tried his best in fighting corruption, especially in the recovery of funds looted by the late Gen. Sani Abacha and that as of the time he left the government, about $1bn was still to be recovered.
Obasanjo said, “For me, we have no hope if we have no future. I am an optimist as far as Nigeria is concerned. If somebody doesn’t get it all right for now, we will get somebody who will come up and fix whatever is missing. The administration before this had no clue on how to deal with Boko Haram, there is no doubt about that.
“You may not like the way he (Buhari) is fighting corruption. I fought corruption. We recovered over $1.25bn from Abacha and his men. We didn’t make noise. Also, we recovered £100m and about N30m and those who were helping us, the lawyers and the rest said there was still at least $1bn to be recovered at that time. I put it in my handover notes. But rather than encourage scrupulous persons, we had another spate of corruption.”
Obasanjo added that fighting corruption would not be effective if it did not translate to better life for the citizens.
He said, “Fighting corruption is not a one-day or a one-regime affair. If where we left it, they continued, we would have gone far. For me, the questions are: Is corruption being fought? And if it is being fought, is it being effectively fought? Are we getting the desired results? And if we are getting the desired results, what impact is it having on our society and on our nation?”
Other speakers at the event included Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prof. Joy Ogwu, and the Associate Vice-President, Research, McMaster University, Canada, Prof. Bonny Ibhawoh.
They both said if Africa was to experience any development, leaders must match their words or policies with action. |
