i was at the popular faculty of arts last midnight for TDB (TILL DAY BREAK) since exams have started ... then my phone rang! my nigga called me that they had caught a thief at ZIK HALL.

I packed my books and rushed down to zik hall to confirm it . since there have been various cases of theft in the hall and since i also lost my laptop hp 2000 (6gb ram.) and my phone blackberry z3 .

After the accident one of the girls was lying on the ground, while the other girl the car touched first was found inside a bush close to the road side, they were immediately rushed to the hospital... an I.D card found in one of the girls bag, indicated she is a 200 level philosophy student University of Benin. As the time of puting this update together, it was disclosed to us that one of the girls who is a Student of the Philosophy department is Dead! She is named... ANWULIKA RITA HALIM. The other girl who is her roomate, named EFE is responding to treatment and have been transferred to the Health Centre of the University of Benin. Below are some pics of Rita... 10 THINGS THAT CAUSE YOUR KIDNEYS TO DAMAGE The kidneys take care of the urination process in our bodies by filtering body waste and excess of water. So, one might say they are pretty important. But, despite being such an important component of our body, many of us do not care properly for them and millions of people die each year from kidney disease. Hydronephrosis, an increase of urine pressure in kidneys is another example which is caused by chronic back pressure on kidneys, ultimately resulting in renal failure and even the need for dialysis. 3. Consuming too much sodium Another function of our kidneys is metabolizing the sodium we consume. The salt we eat is the prime source of sodium and the majority of our sodium intake needs to be excreted. So, eating excessive amounts of salt keep the kidneys busy (excreting sodium), which may cause long term stress on our kidneys. 4. Consumption of too much caffeine When we’re thirsty, we often choose beverages other than water such as soft drinks and sodas. Many of these beverages contain caffeine. Caffeine can elevate blood pressure, and high blood pressure puts strain on the kidneys which can damage them. 5. Pain-killer abuse Taking pain-killers for low-grade pain is a bad habit many people have. This is a dangerous habit, because most pain-killers have severe side effects and can damage different organs, such as kidneys. According to several researches, taking pain pills in the long term reduces blood flow and deteriorates kidneys’ function. 6. Too much protein Over-consuming red meat and other protein-rich foods can deteriorate the condition of damaged kidneys. A protein-rich diet is essentially healthy unless you suffer from kidney damage and your doctor recommends a protein-restricted diet. Too much protein increases the metabolic load on our kidneys. 7. Too much alcohol consumption Excessive alcoholic intake is a kidney- damaging habit. This is because, alcohol contains toxins which put stress on our kidneys and can damage them. 8. Smoking Smoking is bad for almost every organ of the body, including the kidneys. According to several studies, there is a connection between smoking and kidney disease. 9. Ignoring colds and flu Ignoring the common cold and flu is a bad habit that can cause kidney damage. Several studies have shown that people who have kidney disease also have a history of avoiding resting while sick. 10. Sleeplessness While sleeping, a process of renewal of organ tissues occurs. On Friday, July 10,a 28 year old trader Kabiru Mohammed, was said to be dealing in second- hand shoes and was returning from the Seme area in his car at about 5am.was when he was stopped at a checkpoint manned by customs officials around the Federal Government College area in Ijanikin. It was gathered that after the inspection by the NCS officials, Mohammed was told he could leave. However, one of the thugs, reportedly working with the NCS officials, was said to have given Mohammed’s vehicle a chase and thrown an object at the car tyres, which made the vehicle swerve and somersault. Mohammed reportedly died on the spot before he could be helped. Policemen from the Ijanikin division and soldiers at another checkpoint in the area took Mohammed’s corpse away. A commercial driver, identified only as Suleiman, said when the officers and the thugs realised that Mohammed was dead, they fled the checkpoint. He added that the thug hurled the object in error, thinking that Mohammed did not “settle” the customs officials. He said, “It was about 5.30am. The man was coming from the Seme area and packed second-hand shoes in his vehicle. He was stopped by the customs officers, and he settled them. “They asked him to go, but one of the Kelebes (thugs) lurking around the checkpoint did not know the man had been cleared. He ran after him and threw the metal object under his tyre. The car climbed the object and the driver lost control of the vehicle. “The car somersaulted, and went off the road. The officers and the thug took to their heels immediately. I later heard it was the police and some soldiers who came to remove the corpse.” A source in the area alleged that the thugs, who were commonly called Aja or Kelebe, usually worked with customs officers at the checkpoint to arrest traders carrying contrabands or those who refused to bribe them. “The Kelebes do not wear uniforms, but you will see them lurking around the checkpoints. They collect money from the drivers, and harass people as if they were the customs officers. They always share the money collected,” he added. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed Mohammed’s death. He added that the family had, however, requested the corpse from the Ijanikin division for burial. He said, “The police at Ijanikin recovered the corpse. What we have is a case of a fatal accident. Meanwhile, the family members have shown up at the division to request the body of their relative. It has been released to them.” The Public Relations Officer, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, Lagos, Uche Ejesieme, said the comptroller had ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. He added that the findings would soon be made public. He said, “We are investigating the cause of the incident. It is pertinent to note that it is not in our character to exhibit conducts capable of putting people’s lives at risks. “The comptroller has ordered an investigation into the matter. “Meanwhile, our hearts and condolences go to the family and dependents of the deceased.” Punch
