Shymm3x:
What about power?
The benchmark would be 24hrs power supply, no?
How will he be able to achieve that with the corruption and forces in that sector?
He can replicate the template he was using in Lagos particularly those powering some sensitive government businesses in Lag. albeit on a muchmore larger scale now. I think he has also been an advocate of each state having control of power and energy resources. Maybe we will have to see a situation whereby any willing state can put up affordable megawatts independently without waiting for FG approval. I believe the only challenging sector is that of power and if going by what the VP said, they have some workable programmes in place.

Aareonakakanfo:
Fashola handling 3 sectors is a bad move
Power on its own is like mount Kilimanjaro.
Even his predecessors who handled just power alone were unable to achieve anything
Combining that with works and housing is hectic
He already had a template to work with. He has handled all those sectors as a governor. He just need to replicate it at the federal. I would have preferred him being given power or works alone but who knows, that might be a pointer to his presidency some day.

At least they have no excuse on Osodi/Apapa Expressway and there won't be any Obanikoro to throw spanner in his wheel any longer in Lagos. If he would listen to me, his first priority in South West should be Lagos/Ibadan, Oshodi/Apapa expressway. Another thing is that all the governors in South West can now fix federal roads in their domains as they now have an ally as Minister of Works.

When they call themselves traders I always laugh. If we have a sane government, most of them will die a natural death or better still find legit business to do.

Have you bought memory cards lately? You'll see something like CHIBUZO, EZE, UGOH and the memory cards na kpeme if you buy one. They have also gone to bastardize the diapers business. Now HUGHES has turned to HUGO. I don't think those people have fear of God in them. I think they are naturally configured to do bad business. The one that pained me most is selling used tyres as new. A friend of mine almost lost his life due to that. Because he didn't want to fall into their trap, he travelled all the way to Ibadan to buy a new tyre. He had a bust at Ikire when coming back. Those people eh, na wash when it comes to doing legit business.

The only missing links in this team Change are Prof Pat Utomi, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, and Femi Falana. I hope the government can make use of them in other capacities.

I don't know why Yoruba parents are so fcukking joyous in the morning when you're trynna sleep.
So funny. grin I remember a time I wanted to do that with my kids using my phone. My first daughter just came the second night, took my phone and hid it somewhere. I was so troubled that day. It was when she woke up around 6am that she eventually returned my phone. That was the last time I tried it with them. grin grin grin

How can we make Yoruba Hour better?

1. Have topics ready
We need to know which topics are going to be discussed. By doing that, we set a goal and determine it's conclusion by 10pm. Topics can range from the DAWN project to Yoruba interest to ongoing developments in Yorubaland.

2. Advertise Yoruba hour
If we're really serious about Yoruba Hour, we need to invite as many Yoruba and friends of Yorubas as possible.

3. Be our brother's keeper
This is seriously lacking in Yorubaland. Why? How? And what can we do to change it?

4. Notify other users when the Hour approaches
We think they'll remember, but.......
5. Have a session like "Tani mo o" an entertaining segment where we can improve our knowledge of Yoruba riddles, proverbs, stories, and jokes.

lol I've never heard that song. It sounds interesting. Do they wake you up with cane?
Nope. That is Ogun State Anthem for you. It was normally played first thing on Ogun AM/MW radio in those days. When our father wanted to wake us up, he would raise the volume of his radio. So whether one likes it or not, everybody must wake up. So, we tend to hate that song because it usually signalled the end of a sweet and sound sleep. It's now that I understand the significance of that Anthem.

The metrics are based on their performances at the ministerial screening viz-a-viz the number of questions asked by the Senators in different/particular fields, the time spent in the screening exercise, the robustness of their answers, their abilities to articulate their thoughts with clarity, their confidence levels, etc. One thing you can't take away from the whole exercise is that it gave us the opportunity to really assess the nominees based on their antecedents. Whether they perform better or not is relative and subjective, but all in all I want to give kudos to both the 8th Senate and the nominees. Though there were some pockets of ridiculous questions here and there, but an ardent observer would see that the Senators really asked some germane questions that actually on some national issues. We can't get a perfect system but we could work towards making our systems to be perfect.

In my humble opinion, the first 20 would definitely going to be the mover and shaker of this administration. However, this doesn't preclude the fact that most of the political expedient ministers may not find their way into the think-tank. In the same vein, I think whether we like it or not, we must commend all those that came together to put forward these names. Arguably it might not be our best, but it is certainly one of the best we can come up with. Two people that I think are missing in the list are Professor Pat Utomi and Dr Oby Ezekwesili. My hope is that the two of them will be given some roles to play in this administration e.g. Professor Pat Utomi as Chief Economic Adviser to the President or something like that. Dr Ezekwesili will definitely play a significant role as she was featured in the last NESG 2015. I've always believed that Nigerian problems can only be solved by Nigerians. With the calibre of this team, one thing is certain and all things being equal, if we don't get "there" in the next four years, we will nearly get "there". grin

On the current mountainous crises facing the country, I don't believe that they are insurmountable. One thing I know for sure is that Nigeria is always at his best when nobody gives her a chance. The civil war, the military incursions, and if we are to talk about sport, Nigeria Vs USSR at Saudi '89, Nigeria vs Brazil Atlanta '96, Nigeria vs Spain France '98, and recently the curtailing of ebola virus in the country last year to the bewilderment of the whole world are some of those things that give me the confidence that no matter the problems we have at hand, we will come out of it victorious. grin grin grin
