if you really want to be honest here you would state that the only issue on that thread wasn't just false declaration but also the purchase and selling price. Even the topic highlighted a corolla bought for $275 and sold for 2m. I had exactly this same problem with my 2001 Infiniti QX4. The ride had issues with top gasket and after my mechanic changed it, the engine started behaving as you described above. Mechanics upon mechanics tried to fix it but to no success. Electricians were brought in and the issue persisted. I had to change the engine but nothing changed. I also changed the brain box but it did not solve the problem. The expenses in all totaled to about N800k back then in 2011 although they were being spend in small small bits. The problem I had then which is what I think you are now going through is that you love this your ride so much and will be willing to spend money in order to fix it. My final advice to you is to SELL IT and move on. Trust me, you will start sleeping well after that. My QX4 I bought N2.6 million had to be sold for N500k and I never regretted it. I wish you all the best.

The dashboard gives it up. see below the dashboard of a 2008 Toyota Aurion( The name this car started life as). Note the wood trim as it flows from the doors to the dashboard. Also note the center console. This dashboard is very rare to find in LHD configuration.

Now compare with your usual Camry dashboard and see the difference( second picture). This Camry for sale was a dead giveaway from looking at the door trim flowing to the dashboard. The window control switches was simply swapped to that for LHD configuration.
If i was to convert this car, i would ensure that not a single trace of the RHD configuration is left.( i would have swapped the complete interior door trim for the two front doors).

However the conversion was well done cosmetically.

The body work was what i was referring to as crappy.
