When It Is Time To Return To Factory Specs. by GAZZUZZ(m): 11:36pm On Aug 03, 2018 |
Mr Yusuf owns a 4Cylinder 2003 toyota camry, He Bought the car in 2012 @ 65,000miles. Yusuf Has used this vehicle for 6years without any major engine troubles. In 2013 on his way to Ife from Lagos, one of the radiator hoses ruptured and Engine overheated, but he realised and parked the car, the hose was replaced water was poured into the Radiator, and He continued his journey. When he got to Back to lagos, he noticed in the morning the Radiator Was low on (now water) coolant, Engine oil was short and car had a gentle misfire most mornings that later cleared out. One Hot afternoon, yusufs car overheated in traffic and He visited Kamaru his regular mechanic who has worked on all his vehicles since the days of the 505. Kamaru advised him to take out the thermostat and wire up the Fans directly, also he was adviced to stop using that expensive synthetic engine oil, that it was not designed for out "Hot" weather. Yusuf Gave the Go ahead, the Thermostat as removed, 20w50 engine oil was installed, engine oil Treatment was added, Fans wired Directly and to ice the cake, Radiator was switched to a Double cell. Yusuf Got instant results, the water in his radiator remained at same level when he checked the next morning, engine oil was Sharp at the High mark all week, Temp needle Never exceeded low mark even in the worst of Lagos Traffic, A/C even cooled much better. The only thing He noticed was his usual trip from home to office and back which used to take 1 Full tank in 2weeks now got finished in 1 week. Yusuf adjusted to the new fuel consumption and has been using vehicle like this since 2013, changing engine oils every Month end once he receives his salary, all has been well for 5years. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

Yusuf's Nephew Readonee35L just graduated from FUTA, He studied Mech engineering and was posted to Lagos for NYSC, he came to stay with Uncle yusuf, one day when washing uncle's car, he noticed the steady Noise from the Fan as Uncle was about to start the car, and he lectured Uncle on why it was wrong to have fans that way. Uncle listens to all the Onyibo Readone35L had to say, and said month end, we will all go to Uncle Kamaru's workshop and both of you will discuss while car is being serviced. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Sat was here and the month had ended, Uncle and nephew Get into the car and head out to Kamaru's Garrage. Yusuf introduces his nephew to Kamaru, and highlights the observations made about the cooling fans, engine oil, coolant etc and asked if he was aware that it was not good for the Car. Kamaru vehemently opposes the nephew's ideologies and terms it sacrilegious to even think of returning car back to its factory condition he claims that, the engine would. 1. Over heat 2. Start smoking 3. Knock if it was returned back to Factory specs. Uncle is now at cross roads on what to do.... 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Uncle is persuaded By Readone35L to close eye and do it, that in the future he will not require coolant, spark plugs and Thermostat. Just engine oil, and the engine oil would not require replacement every month but when the maintenence light is illuminated @ about 5,000 mile intervals. Uncle grudgingly coughs out the pay, and Diportivo gets to work. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

I did not even leave lekki when it came on, what do we do? Dipo pauses for a minute, then explains to Uncle that he will have to re-scan vehicle to understand what triggered the malfunction lamp. Dipo asks Uncle to please come back for a re-scan. traffic changed from mild to total stand still at the tail end of 3rd mainland, and Uncle is hungry, nephew is hungry too, they signal evilspirit to bring gala and eherbal to bring malt. As Uncle was washing down the Gala with the Malt, Readone35L summoned courage to explain to Uncle about a cars electronics, he explained the role of the engine computer and sensors, and said it might be something minor. He asks how many of them are on duty he says they are 4, deltel, carshopper and Oga razaqmb . Bonnet is open and he notices a leak in the joint between coolant passage and radiator top hose. he places a call to Kamaru and explains what just happened. Kamaru's says he warned him, that it would happen and he also told him that he will not be a part of the alakowe transformation. 7 Likes 1 Share |
