sexysammy0906: the pgd program i am going for is Corporate Communications and Public Relations, i have a masters degree in international relations and the same with my undergraduate degree. the agent actually explained that this new trend jst started recently and that it has not really been an issue since. they just noticed that most persons that they applied for that got rejected had master degree in another country but were going for a lesser degree. anyways do u think that there is strong tie for me to able to apply for visa.

You will know better...is corporate com an aspect of international relations? Why r u focusing on that? Do you see a specific gap in the Nigerian market for that? Are you working in a company presently that will benefit from you when you are done? These are the sort of questions you need to awnser/explain in your personal statement...

Good luck ..

@sexysammy096
My advice is to include your masters degree. What Pgd course r you doing? I moved to Canada abt 6 years ago after I concluded my masters in SW in the UK then came to George Brown College to do a Pgd in Autism and behavioural Sc....
There must be a direct link to your masters course if you want to do a Pgd. I explained in my personal statement why I wanted to do a course in Autism which will certainly enhance my profession as a Social worker. I got my Student visa in d Uk and have since gotten my PR.
Besides your UK student Visa will show on ur passport.
Just make sure your reasons are solid and you shouldn't have a problem.

Good luck

Promhize:

You are not Igbo, so you can't understand.

A woman that gives birth to two! children out of wedlock (even if she later married the man) is hardly trusted, to worsen the case she's Yoruba.
I'm not saying Igbos hate Yoruba but once a Yoruba person looses the trust, its gone.

I'm sure his mum used to look at her as a gold-digger ans I support ladies like this won't go near him if he wasn't super-duper rich (my opinion tho). She doesn't even look like someone that can make ordinary eba grin cry

You sound so naive....a woman that gives birth out of wedlock....and what did Peter do?
If you are not sure of the truth..don't make statement of lies...

I know Lola Okoye..and she Is Not a gold digger...never was..and not now...

Even in so called perfect marraige...there will be some family members who do not approve...the smart ones no that you can't please everyone and the most important thing is to follow ones heart and do what is best for one...not to every Bola, Chinedu or Ahmed out there..

So to the writer above..when you want to marry please listen to everyone's advise before you pick your bride ..and if you have..hope it's working we'll for you...

Yoruba..Igbo...Hausa will are all still Nigerian...

A person is good because of basic human human principles...not because of his ethnicity..

Alot of you dont get it...wheter the pastor has apologized or not is not the Issue. Infact I dont blame the usher...he/she was only carrying out the church's policy....The issue is what is its relevance? wheter u are single or married?...why make that dinstinction in the first place? I wonder where they put divorced people in their church...

Okay...the pastor apologized....does that mean the next'single' person that walks into the church gets to choose where he/she sits? Is it biblical? In my opinion...this is the most ridiculus hing ever...and NO...its not just a sitting arrangement...it is discrimination in the house of God.

Travel / Schooling In Country Of Georgia- Advice by readymade: 1:49pm On Dec 23, 2011
Please can anyone who lives or has lived in Georgia advice me about the possible challenges of an African (boy) who is going there as a student.
My cousin just informed me that he will be going to Georgia on the 27th , an agent helped to secure the school and Visa,

I am a bit uneasy about Georgia, I don't know anything about it though but I know it is in the middle of Ukraine and Russia.

@ newacca,
Your faith keeps me coming back to this section to follow up on your progress, I am sorry that you have a delay, but remember that DELAY IS NOT DENIAL,
God has a different purpose for everyone, and may be God does not want you  to come to Canada, maybe there is a different purpose and destination for you, As someone mentioned, USA, even the Neitherlands that you are considering, ,

The Lord will perfect what he has started in your Life in His name. He will prosper everything you lay your hands upon, and He will turn around your situation for good, He will heal you of whatever man say you have because HE has said that by HIS stripes we are  healed. Even before 9 months is over they will be in awe as you will be fully 'healed' by the first quarter of the year 2012 ,

He will give you a new song, as you have testified on this forum and shown how strong your faith is, HE will rise up and meet you at the points of your need. Infact when you move to the destination God will lead you, you will be convinced that surely this is the Lord's doing because you will be overwhelmed with favour.

2012 is your year Sir, Keep the faith.
HAVE A MERRY XMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

@ overloved

What I mean is that if you do only 1 year course in a Canada institution , then you must have 2 years Canada work experience to be eligible for the CEC (Canada experiece category). So what it means basically is that the 1yr course does not count. You know ther are 2 ways one qualifies for the CEC, through the education route or the employment route, I got my PR through the employment route having done only 1 yr of college.

Hope that explains it,

@ Gnexplore,
If I were you, I will WAIT in SWEDEN, until I secure the permanent residence before I move to Canada. These are my reasons:

You have a secured job right now; you are generating money, and in 2 yrs time youl have the residence permit.
Coming to Canada as a student with limited funds can be very tough, for the first 6months as a student, Canada does not allow you to work off campus. However securing a job in campus is very limited and hours they give you if you are lucky to find is very small and will do little to contribute to your tuition fund.
Before you secure your permanency residence in Canada is also a long process, it can pretty much take 2 yrs or more depending on which category you are filing for, if it is the Canada Experience category- it require you to have completed atleast 2 yrs of college or uni study and 1 yr job experience , or 1 yr of college and 2 yrs of job experience, so atleast 3 yrs before you apply , the application process is taking atleast 14 months so far.
if its FSW -FEDERAL SKILL Worker category, it requires 1 yr continious job which must be on the list of skilled workers Canada is presently looking for- the process of this application takes between 18-24 months.

You are already getting to the end of your struggles in Sweden, please wait to complete and achieve your residency, it is still a western world,
when you get it, you can decided to come to Canada then, and atleast you arent under any pressure perse,

My twopence,
goodluck

@ chukie94, dont you have the right of appeal?, if you do, then Appeal asap, if the reason is just that about your dad being the sole signature, get a lawyer , honestly it most of the time works, show more evidence about your dad owning the company etc,

Dont give up, I know a number of people who went legal after the initial denial, they got it.

Goodluck.

I dont think youll have problems at POE, when do you realy plan to get to Alberta? cos really you dont have alot of time. Havent you sorted out your accomodation? when do u need to pay your school deposit by? I guess if you have your ticket showing final destination to Alberta, it wont raise questions, but if you have a ticket only to Toronto , the officer might want to know why?, so my suggestion is book a flight to Calgary with stopover in TO

For accomodation, go to booking.com and you are able to book without paying but you will have to use a credit card for the booking. Read the booking conditions which will state the latest you can cancel the booking without your credit card being charged,

goodluck
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by readymade: 11:51pm On Sep 09, 2011
@alanrewaju,

you will have to get the 2 years work experience and apply for PR under CEC category, PNP route is not as fast nowadays and it is employer based,

so get your post grad work permit first and concentrate in getting a job under NOC 0,A,or B as these jobs under these job classifications are the only ones eligible for the PR CEC category.

Depnding on the length of your studies (8months=1 yr work permit, 2yrs = 2 yrs wp ) you may have to renew it so that you get the 2 yrs(or 24months) work experience that you need for you to also be eligible under the CEC PR category,

what course r you doing in Humber College?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by readymade: 11:42pm On Sep 09, 2011
@ mevisbleek,
the PNP is employer related isnt it? so its just not open to anyone unless one is Phd student, correct me if I am wrong.

Hello Everyone, I am also a silent reader and quite fascinated by how this forum is so informative with vibes of solidarity, Goodluck to everyone as you pursue your ambitions.

I am in Canada based in London Ontario. There is a big college called Fanshawe College and will like to know if there are people planning to go there or infact already there,

Just curious, cos London Ontario is a relatively small town, it is also home to University of Western Ontario which is also a top University, We have a small Nigerian community here too, and a Redeem Christian church, so in our own way , we try to have a home away from home,

Cheers,

Abeg Nigerians, shine your eyes and put sentiments aside,

Career / Re: What Is The Salary For Social Workers In Nigeria. Please Advice by readymade: 6:39pm On Oct 13, 2010
Hello,
I am a Social worker. I have my MSW (Masters)  from the UK. I work in North America now as a child protection worker with children services. I agree with Dis guy, there is a big difference btwn Social Worker and Charity worker. The difference is Social Work (er) are regulated and there are ethics, values that embodies the profession. Here in North America and Europe, you cannot call yourself a Social Worker unless you actually studied BSW OR MSW and you are registered with the body of  the jurisdiction. No one is trying to be little the good work of NGOs or others but without the degree, its just  charity work.
Its a shame that in Nigeria at present , theres a lot of work to be done. There are no system in place and that is why NGO's will come and go, Well meaning charity workers/social workers will burn out quickly and will either relocate or change profession.  My suggestion is all qualified Social workers should form a body and become one voice to challenge the lack of infrastructures for the vulnerable group which includes persons with disability ( learning, physical), elderly, abused children (physical, sexual, emotional and neglect). Abandoned children, mental health issues etc.
There are mainstream schools with no resources for children with learning disabilities, no curriculum that targets their needs and supports , I can go on and on, its a big shame.

Its fun to laugh about it right now until someone close to you needs the service and you find out that theres no voice for him/her, no help, no resources,

My pet project is in  Autism, it is a disability that no one knows the cure, its no respecter of persons, color or finances, it cannot be detected in pregnancy. Its a  disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior,  the prevalence is very high now,  such project cannot be funded individually, infact cannot be done by an organization but a government.

If Social Workers, Charity workers are serious about making a change, we all need to come together and become one voice. It is only by then that Government will take notice of us.

Well done to all Social Workers and Charity workers out  there.

I believe soon, Nigeria will understand that it is important to listen to the voice of the disadvantaged and address their needs. It is in doing that, that we can all say Nigeria we Hail thee!
