Afternoon my people.
I hope there won't be any issue if your salary account is with Bank A, and you now submit POF as investment with Bank B?

Hello guyz..

Please I just completed my ACCA and I have enquired with WES on how to add it to my credentials. They sent a mail yesterday on how to go about using their contact form. But one of the things to fill there is Years of Attendance, and I dont know how many years to put as I started last year and finished this year - I got exempted from F1 to F9.
Please how many years should I put there as Years of Attendance?

If you use bank B, you may have to show bank statement showing salary deposits in bank A and account balance, then highlight transfer to Bank B for the mutual funds account and also show your mutual funds statement/certificate from bank B. If you use bank A you'll show salary statement showing salary deposits and balance as source of funds and if mutual funds account is different you'll still show mutual funds statement/certificate. Nobody will penalise you for investing in mutual funds as long as it's readily accessible to you. In other words you can use either bank A or B as long as there is no mago mago transaction, you'll be alright.

Alright. Thank you!

Good day guyz!

Please I want to ask in relation to POF.
If someone has two banks, say Bank A and Bank B, and your salary account is already connected to Bank A. Is it advisable to open a mutual fund account with Bank B or use the Bank A for it?

Why I am asking is to know if this won't affect anything during submission of POF or lead to submission of additional documents or proof.

Please guyz, I want to start my ECA. But I want to be sure if I can go ahead with it as the ACCA result I'm hoping to use to add to my BSc so as to have two or more degrees isn't out yet. Till next month.

Can I go ahead to start evaluation of my degree pending the time it'd be out?

And please, who knows genuine people I can use for WAEC or is advisable I do it myself?

My PPR JOURNEY PART 2 - IELTS (a.k.a The humbler of men)

Let me start by saying that IELTS showed me shegeeeey! Again error go dey breekete for this write up wella cheesy

First attempt. 05/Jan/2019..BC
LRWS.. 7.5,,6.5,,6.5,,7

I went to this exam with all excitement that we were about to enter the process. I never envisaged what was coming, only if we can see the future.

Second attempt 09/Feb/2019.. BC.

I practised soteey, I almost finished all the listening test on YouTube.

Hia!! It came out. embarassed
LRWS.. 9,,8,,6.5,,7.5
Remark unchanged... I na-anukwa!!

At this point, i lost confidence in myself. Just like what people say "I have never failed any exam in my life". Not just that I have never failed any exam until IELTS, I have never been an average student. With the help of my husband, I dusted myself and registered for another.

Third attempt.. 27/APRIL/2019..BC

A friend advised me to register with MOD. Stubborn me! I say na the same thing everywhere. A na-emenu!

This time, i practised only writing. I reached out to Wasseynewest and joined his group, the guy is a Saint, I must say. I learnt a lot from him.
I also reached out to Johnnybravo who was very busy with other candidates at the time. He had a session with me. He said that my writing was good to fetch me 7 at least. I said to myself "IELTS na me and you for one leg trouser". I must pass, Iwu!!

Brethren!
It came out...
LRWS.. 9,,8.5,,6.5,,8
I am still awaiting the remark ni! lipsrsealed

So Sad.
Infact, I felt worthless.
I cried eeeh. When I see sample writing on IELTS, I just wondered what I did wrong. I thought i had always written what could atleast fetch me 7.
Dusted myself the 3rd time, and quickly registered for another IELTS.

Fourth attempt.. 23rd May 2019

This time I registered with MOD.
A friend chatted me up one day that he had a writing material. He said that he would share the material on one condition, that I must drop all the writing techniques or whatever I had learnt and study the materials to the teeth. I agreed and promised too. After all, what did the ones I learnt fetch.
Na so I read this material bumper to bumper and line by line without thinking of Jay, Liz etc.
On the test day, I must say this was
one of most stressful days of my life. I had to take all the tests same day. I came out of the exam hall downcast and unfulfilled about my writing.I was just blabbering during my speaking test. In my mind, I was planning on the next date to repeat the exam. I started practicing for writing since that day, I focused on Jay and was looking forward to 29th June to write another one because I was not giving up.

Today, I woke up early and broke down in tears cry. My husband consoled me soteey he tire. When it was 11am, I started purging and developed fever. I thought "My God, why have you forsaken me". Meanwhile, i
hadn't checked my result ooo.

At 12:20pm, Mbanu! Why am I doing this to myself ni!
Brethren!
I checked.. Lo and behold!

LRWS... 9,,8.5,,7,,7 grin

My people, I can't describe the joy. The purge stopped, the fever vanished.
Indescribable joy..WHAT A RELIEF!! I wonder what PPR will feel like. lipsrsealed

Venorite and Yemblaze, God will do it for you guys too. kiss
For all those who are still in the struggle, never give up.

If you need that material feel free to send me Pm. I will share because it worked for me.
NB.. It is IDP material so therefore write with MOD because I don't know if BC will follow same technique.

The feeling eeh! Chaii!
Chukwu daalu!! To God be the glory.

Boss. Congratulations on scailing this hurdle!

Please, abeg, come and share that writing material with me too.

Recap of how my interview went.

First thing to note is the interview is at Landmark towers not CPP place.
Though should you make the same mistake I made this morning fixing it is quite easy (Landmark is a stone's throw away)

My interview was for 8:30am and I got to the venue quite early as I was coming from the mainland and I didn't want to risk getting there late due to traffic.

I met a lady who had gotten there earlier for the same interview and soon afterwards others started to arrive.

There was 10 of us and we got spilt in two groups five per group (the selection was random or at least so it seemed)

The first stage was group discussion, the first 5 went for theirs first and when they got back my group went for ours.

We had taken out time to plan our discussions and assigned roles before going in so this helped during the group presentation, every member of my team had valuable contributions and the team leader coordinated us well. I handled the presentation.

Fresh topics are delivered to each group so don't bother asking me what topic was asked, however, know this, the topics would be something you can relate to. It also helps if you have a diverse group.

We all went back to the waiting room where biscuits and tea as well as water was available for those who required them.

Interviews started not long after. Each group had a panel and each member of the group gets called to be interviewed one at a time in the order with which they arrived.

I arrived second this meant I was interviewed second.

The lead time between the first interviewee and my interview was about 90 minutes.

Do take bathroom breaks as much as you need before your turn.

The interview itself.

Well I can't repeat blow by blow all the questions I was asked but I'd say this.

A. Be prepared to talk about yourself excluding everything you have on your CV. Especially if your CV isn't loaded.

B. Majority of my questions if not all was tied to my freelancing career.

You will be drilled! You can't coast through the interview if you have not prepared well. These interviewers are not there to joke they take notes and ask intelligent questions based on your response.

What tip would I give you?

1. Read up on answers to standard interview questions.

2. Prepare answers to behavioral questions. 90% of what I was asked was behavioral based on answers I gave earlier on.

3. Be ready to defend the unit you picked.

4. Smile, breathe and be confident. Don't rush with your answers.

I wish you all the best

Now the wait begins...

Well-done bro. Wish you all the best!

Quite sad, so many people are excited to flee their motherland to help grow and build up a white man's land. It's just like what my friend used to say, 'immigration is modern day slavery except this time they do not have to forcibly chain able bodied men to slave ships or rape our women, they just make it easier for your youngest and brightest minds to simply emigrate in droves'. Who will build this country if you all leave, have you ever thought of that? You think once you run to Canada you will still have any reason to return home? How about your kids? Do you think by taking them to Nigeria for 3weeks vacation will entice them to one day relocate to their father land? Sure nobody thinks about these things. The biggest problem the black race has is selfishness while the white man thinks about the greater good of a community. Everyone only thinks about what will benefit them and their family and that's where it ends. Even in the so called abroad, your fellow Nigerian will not want to accommodate or guide you because they think you will be better than them. Common info about schools, work or getting certain government documents, your fellow Nigerian in the diaspora will not help you. White countries and white people In general are successful because they collaborate and help each other. U.S, Canada and the UK are amongst the most developed countries today due to strong trade and military alliance. A white employer will hire a fellow white man for a lucrative job position before he hires an immigrant with the same credentials.

Before anyone says I'm ranting because I was denied Visa or whatever PPR thing you guys relish here like a lottery ticket, I also used to think abroad was the be all end all after graduating from university. I also hustled and eventually left Nigeria. I made $265,000 that year working several overtime hours (I have the W-2 and tax return forms to prove it) but I was never really satisfied because this part of me kept feeling like I betrayed my country. It takes a special kind of person to self reflect and then decide to walk away from a lifestyle of adequate security, good health care system, great schools, cheap food and law & order but without any sacrifice, Nigeria will perpetually remain a 3rd world cesspool. I moved back, got a job and started a mentorship and scholarship program where we find youths whose families are unable to pay their elementary and secondary school fees and we partner with local businesses to raise funds for these kids. School isn't for everyone, we also train several kids in IT, carpentry, plumbing, construction and mini importation. Has it been easy? No. Do I sometimes miss the convenience of my 2 bedroom apartment in north Los Angeles? You bet I do. But do I feel accomplished knowing that I'm making a positive change in small ways that will alleviate poverty, possibly reduce crime and put more food on the tables of a few Nigerians? Certainly.

The UN needs to look into countries like Canada that take advantage of the dire situation in Nigeria and prowl on our brightest and youngest minds for the sole purpose of developing their country and replacing their aging workforce. Just today, their Prime minister was begging President Buhari to give him 1 million Nigerians. This just sounds like the year 1756 where the white man met with local chiefs and traded silver, mirrors and gun powder for African slaves. While I know most of you have made up your mind to flee your motherland, the least I can urge you to do is to find reputable charities and NGOs in Nigeria and donate to them once in a while. Goodluck.

Your comment is very well received, and I will try to be diplomatic as possible in this response.

Firstly, like someone said earlier, the world is now a global village, so comparing people migrating voluntarily with slavery doesn't fit. Get that mentality out of your head!

Secondly, you talked about Nigerians leaving Nigeria en mass, and asked who will build Nigeria if we keep doing that. According to my little research before this post, over 50 million Chinese are living outside China (the most in the world), and that hasn't stopped China from developing at the speed of light. Can you see that Nigerians leaving Nigeria doesn't stop Nigeria from developing if we are a serious nation?

Moreover, you also talked about your philanthropic adventures, which I find very commendable. So, be truthful to yourself, are you telling us that you going to Los Angeles, and then coming back to Nigeria to work hasn't changed your views on how to do things better?
So, if other Nigerians want to go through the same route to make a difference, please why stigmatize them?

And the most interesting part for me as an Accountant is the foreign remittance (it's more like a free money into the Nigerian economy). The Nigerians in diaspora sent an estimated $25 billion to Nigeria in 2018 alone, that contributed 6% to our GDP (Source: PwC). NIGERIA BUDGET FOR 2018 was $29.8 billion. Can you see that the foreign remittance (which will keep increasing) is almost the same as our budget? Do you know what the multiplier effect that would have had on the Nigerian economy last year? Are you seeing a key benefit there?
Also, unemployment is on a geometric increase, people leaving the country would reduce the pressure on the available jobs and also increase the chances of those left. Win-Win for everyone! Another key benefit!

Lastly, the world became what it is today through emigration. Exploration played a huge part in human history. So you can't blame people for wanting to go out and explore saner societies, and witness how things work. How are we going to know how a sane society works if we haven't witnessed one?
Have a nice day fellow Nigerian!

Hello,

If you have completed your ACCA exams (including professional level), you will get the desired WES assessment of "a Canadian 4-year equivalent" degree. This you will get irrespective of whether you claimed exemptions using ICAN or not.

I personally claimed exemptions using ICAN for F1 to F9, and did only the professional level. My ACCA transcript was assessed as equivalent to "a Canadian 4-year Bachelor's degree".

So fear not.

ACCA affiliate or membership will be evaluated as 4years bachelors degree (as per my evaluation report) while F1-F9 (Advance Diploma) is evaluated as 3years Bachelors degree (as seen on Canadavisa forum).

Fortunately for me I wrote ICAN and ACCA concurrently and got six papers exemptions (F1-F6) as I cleared some papers before deciding to start sitting for both exams concurrently.

Should you write ACCA professional papers after being exempted from F1-F9, you should get a favourable evaluation as you weren't exempted from all the 13-14papers but 9.

Logically if you were exempted from all the 9papers, you may be not get a favourable evaluation for the Advance Diploma. On a flip side, that is if you are a risk taker like me (high risk, high reward) and willing to try your luck evaluating the Advance Diploma that is if you were issued after claiming exemption with ICAN. WES may decide to request for the certificate and transcripts used in getting the exemptions which in this case is ICAN. Using comparative analysis of the cost implication and time, waiting to write 4 professional level paper should you pass at first sitting may take 4 diets (1 - 2years) and the cost may be well over 500GBP. I will suggest (not compel) you risk evaluation with WES if you have the Advance diploma. Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Long time silent follower of this thread and Living in Canada thread but my first contribution grin

I had to come out of my hidding place to provide feedback based on my personal experience even though someone already stated you will not get a favourable evaluation after sitting for the professional level because of the exemption which is not totally valid.

O ma ja so pe Las las ni grin

Cheers.

Thank you very much. This is reassuring. I really appreciate, and I am glad this post will be useful to other people too.

I have already ventured into ACCA, I have two professional papers to go. So, I will evaluate it after I have passed In Sha Allah. So, there is no need to evaluate the exempted advance diploma.
Yes, I have a degree to be evaluated alongside the ACCA.
Once again, thank you to everyone that contributed.

Morning guyz. Please I have a question.
I have been reading about being able to use ACCA (F1 - F9, diploma) for two or more alongside your Degree.

I am currently a professional student of ACCA (got exempted for F1 - F9) because I already have ICAN.
So please, can I still use ACCA as two or more?
Thank you all!
