overhypedsteve:
i beg to disagree my man. Nigeria contributes 85% troops to Ecomog. Nigeria leads ecomog. Nigeria created ecomog, ecomog headquaters is in Nigeria.we ll not allow a boys scout army from any of our poor westafrica brothers to enforce law on our citizens for us.
What if your "army" for the last 2yrs are unable to disarm a bunch of crazy group, vigilante groups are even doing better than the army so why wont a boys scout army from other westafrican countries be requested...Even Cameroon's army is doing better

saintneo:
Nigeria contributes about 50% of the soldiers in ECOMOG.
The remaining 50% will not be biased like our Nigerian Army, constantly leaving posts and allowing BK to strike our brothers and sisters in the North
PoliticsShould ECOMOG Come In And Help Fight Boko Haram? by rebranded(op):
The ECOMOG is a West African armed force for ECOWAS members.

It is embarrassing the way the Nigerian Army is being tortured by boko haram and time for external help to come in. The western world would not send their army to come and rescue Nigeria because the Nigerian Govt watched this grow to this level (and keeps growing).

Whats your opinion about need for ECOMOG urgently?
PoliticsGEJ Lied About Boko Negotiation So He Could Declare For 2nd Term by rebranded(op): 2:19pm On Nov 02, 2014
This new Boko haram video has showed the politics involved in this Boko Haram.

2 things i can see in this

1. Some group use boko haram politically - Increased attack when it was obvious Jonathan was about to declare for 2nd term

2. GEJ/PDP are aware of their failures and still not taking boko haram serious, thereby staging negotiations for public acceptance.

This is a complete mess.

Solution: GEJ needs to step down asap and we need a new President able to sort this mess

PDP/GEJ are beginning to learn the courts will take forever to deciding the right interpretation

Rather than going to the courts they continue to interpret in ways that will suit them and push the opposition with the option of either accepting or going to the courts that will take forever.

With the untouchable attitude of the government towards the Laws, We have the judiciary to interfere asap, before our laws are ridiculed by PDP.

There is always an antagonistic immature remark in every correspondence by these media aides.
Why mention "bad news" in a good news story? The tweet would have been better rephrased as:
"Time to celebrate Nigeria. Good news is here. Retweet if you love Nigeria. May we all continue to celebrate Good news. Amen"
You mean Time to celebrate Lagos state. Without the effective leadership of Babatunde Fashola this would have escalated

PoliticsConfab Asks Nigeria To Return To Old National Anthem by rebranded(op): 9:00am On Jul 12, 2014
The conference regarded the old anthem as a better symbol of unity, peace and prosperity.
The National Conference delegates on Thursday adopted the recommendation that Nigeria should revert to the old National Anthem.
The conference regarded the old anthem as a better symbol of unity, peace and prosperity.
The decision was taken while the conference was reviewing a report from the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government in Abuja.
The decision was applauded by delegates, who unanimously recited the old National Anthem on the floor of plenary.
The lyrics of the old National Anthem, written by Lillian Jean Williams, composed by Frances Berda and sung between 1960 and 1978 was:
Nigeria we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribe and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand
Nigerians all and proud to serve
Our sovereign motherland
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle honour
And this we count as gain
To pass unto our children
A banner without stain
O God of all creation
Grant this our one request
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.
The current National Anthem was adopted in 1978 during the military regime under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

Please list your priority of focus for rapid development in Nigeria.
PoliticsAre Telecoms Advertisements Destroying Our Morals? by rebranded(op): 7:24am On Mar 22, 2013
Why do telecommunications in Nigeria involve in advertisements that destroys Morals, with the exception of etisalat adverts though.

Each time I hear an advert it doesn't encourage contentment, honesty, some even go as far as encouraging division in marriages.

With all the cash made from Nigeria the last return is to destroy the peoples morals.

Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State and former National Security Adviser Andrew Owoye Azazi apparently died in a helicopter that crashed today in Bayelsa State, a reliable source has told SaharaReporters.

Governor Yakowa and Mr. Azazi, a retired military general who served as chief security adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, were among passengers in the ill-fated helicopter.

Nigeria's National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) had earlier indicated that the agency had activated a search for a crashed helicopter.

Our sources had earlier disclosed that the crashed chopper was carrying “some major political figures.” As at the time of going to press, Saharareporters was unable to confirm the identity of any other passengers in the ill-fated chopper.

Governor Yakowa and Mr. Azazi were among many political figures who reportedly attended the burial of the father of senior presidential aide Oronto Douglas. The funeral event took place in the Nembe area of Bayelsa State earlier today. SaharaReporters learnt that the crashed helicopter was one of several helicopters that some well-connected people to the funeral.

The crash comes on the heels of a plane crash on October 25, 2012 that has left Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State brain-damaged. Mr. Suntai was moved to a hospital in Germany where he remains in poor shape, unable to recognize his visitors or to speak.

PoliticsBreaking News: Nigeria Unions Suspend Protests For 2 Days by rebranded(op): 12:48pm On Jan 13, 2012
Nigeria's trade unions say they are suspending protests for two days to allow more talks with the government.

The announcement comes on the fifth day of a general strike over the removal of a fuel subsidy, which has caused fuel prices and transport fares to double.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets, while several people have died in clashes with police.

The unions said Thursday's talks with the president were "fruitful" and would continue on Saturday.

The main union organisations jointly announced there would be no mass rallies or protests over the weekend and flights would resume, enabling delegates to travel to the capital, Abuja for talks.

The oil workers' unions had said they would cut oil production in Africa's biggest exporter, starting from Sunday.

"We want to make sure that [on] Saturday and Sunday people - we - relax," Nigeria Labour Congress head Abdulwahed Omar told a rally in the capital, Abuja.

"But Monday morning, it is going to be the mother of all crowds," he said, reports the AFP news agency.

Oil accounts for some 80% of Nigeria's state revenues but after years of corruption and mismanagement, it has hardly any capacity to refine crude oil into fuel, which has to be imported.

The government has promised to use the $8m (£6m) it spends each year on the subsidy to improve schools, healthcare and electricity supply.

But many poor Nigerians fear it will just end up in officials' pockets, while they see cheap fuel as the only benefit they get from their country's oil wealth.
