https://www.sportbible.com/football/ngolo-kante-made-history-in-chelseas-club-world-cup-win-20220213.amp.html N'Golo Kante has become just the fourth player in history to win the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and World Cup.Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners over Palmeiras in Abu Dhabi to become world champions for the first time in their history. It's yet another trophy for the Blues and another for Kante, who is quietly becoming one of the modern game's most decorated player. N'Golo Kante has become just the fourth player in history to win the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and World Cup. Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners over Palmeiras in Abu Dhabi to become world champions for the first time in their history. It's yet another trophy for the Blues and another for Kante, who is quietly becoming one of the modern game's most decorated players. He was part of Leicester City's historic Premier League winning squad in 2015/2016, before joining Chelsea and winning it for a second time one year later. Kante was then part of Didier Deschamps' France team who won the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Last year saw the 30-year-old play a vital role in Champions League glory and Saturday's Club World Cup triumph completes the set. The midfielder is officially part of an exclusive club, but who else has won the four top honours in world football? Thierry Henry was the first man to achieve the feat, with his World Cup win coming in 1998 and first Premier League title coming in 2002. It wasn't until his time with Barcelona he managed to win the Champions League and Club World Cup however, with both honours coming in 2009. Gerard Pique is next up after winning the Premier League and Champions League as a youngster with Manchester United in 2008. He'd go on to add three more Champions League medals and three Club World Cup wins to his cabinet as well as the World Cup with Spain in 2010. The final player is Pedro, who won the same trophies with Barcelona and Spain as Pique, but his Premier League title in the same Chelsea team as Kante. It was a dogged performance from Thomas Tuchel's men against a Palmeiras side who were desperate to win the competition. Kai Havertz's penalty in the second half of extra time secured victory after Raphael Veiga cancelled out Romelu Lukaku's header. Cesar Azpilicueta looked ready to take the penalty before passing the ball to Havertz at the last second. The Chelsea captain explained at full-time: "It was a tactic because I knew how they are, I knew they were coming for the penalty taker, so I took the ball. "Kai knew that he was going to shoot, so it was to release the pressure from him. It was a decisive moment and Kai is one of the best penalty takers. "I waited and listened to everything their players told me, and I think it worked, which is the most important thing."

https://news.yahoo.com/kim-jong-un-keeps-aiming-081314826.html North Korea recently launched a barrage of missile tests and several strikes were aimed Alsom Island. Military expert Joseph Dempsey dubbed Alsom Kim Jong Un's "most hated rock." Dempsey said the rocky outcrop is likely used by Kim as proof that North Korea can strike well-defined targets. North Korea has been ramping up the testing of the country's nuclear capabilities, carrying out a series of missile tests in January that analysts say appears to be the country's boldest in years. However, a military expert has pinpointed a specific rocky outcrop that appears to have been a target of multiple strikes. In January, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un launched at least eight rockets at Alsom, a pile of rocks 11 miles from the northeastern coast of North Korea known as "No Man's Land," Bloomberg reported. Kim has sent more than 25 missiles toward the island since 2019, per Bloomberg, leading military expert Joseph Dempsey to dub the outcrop Kim's "most hated rock." In a tweet chain in January, Dempsey highlighted how Alsom — which is only around 2,800 feet long — had been used multiple times to test the accuracy of Kim's missiles, showing how North Korea was capable of hitting its targets. —Joseph Dempsey (@JosephHDempsey) January 14, 2022 "This relatively small and well-defined target presents a good way to demonstrate the apparent increased accuracy of these systems, particularly for propaganda purposes," Dempsey told Bloomberg. According to the South Korean newspaper Dong-a Ilbo, Alsom also houses a 10-meter-wide domed structure that South Korean analysts say might be a substitute target built to resemble a government building in Seoul. North Korea's missile testing has become increasingly aggressive this year. On January 11, the South Korean military said that the North had fired off a "more advanced" missile capable of reaching Mach 10, or ten times the speed of sound. This missile flew 435 miles before landing in the East Sea. The North Koreans have also been defiant in the face of international pressure, firing off two short-range ballistic missiles on January 14 after the US imposed fresh sanctions. In late September, North Korea also tested a "hypersonic missile" dubbed Hwasong-8.

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/nasa-son-concorde-supersonic-jet-153000248.html NASA’s X-59 supersonic jet, which is being developed with Lockheed Martin, moved one step closer to flight last week after undergoing wind-tunnel tests. Nicknamed “Son of Concorde” after the Concorde commercial jet launched in the late 1960s, this new generation is called QueSST—or Quiet SuperSonic Technology aircraft. It’s designed to minimize sonic booms, which NASA now calls “thumps,” that forced the Concorde to slow down over land. The X-59 is being built at Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works in Palmdale, Calif. NASA awarded the aerospace company a $247.5 million contract to develop the supersonic aircraft. The design team says that it should have a cruise speed of Mach 1.4, or 925 mph. According to a NASA blog, it was designed with a 30-foot-long nose that lowers the sonic boom when the jet passes Mach 1. That should let it hit supersonic speeds soon after takeoff over crowded metro areas. The original Concorde had to stay at sub-sonic speeds over cities, which increased flight times. The finished aircraft is estimated to be 94 feet long, with a wingspan of 29.5 feet. It will have a maximum takeoff weight of 32,300 pounds, with a top speed of Mach 1.5 (990 mph). A video clip released last August said that the assembly process used pre-drilled parts connecting to pre-drilled full-sized fastener holes. “It has significantly reduced the time it takes to locate and fit parts, especially mating large assemblies like this,” said David Richardson, Lockheed Martin’s program. “It is sort of like how Legos go together.” The X-59 will only have space for one pilot with no passengers, but NASA eventually plans to develop the aircraft’s “quiet” supersonic technology for commercial flight. Other supersonic projects, meanwhile, are moving forward. Boom Aerospace announced it was breaking ground for a new production facility at the Piedmont Triad Airport in North Carolina. The company said it expects its supersonic commercial jet to be in service by 2029. A Chinese company, Space Transportation, released footage of a prototype jet that it said would reach 2,600 mph, that would allow it to fly from New York to Beijing in an hour. Virgin Galactic also has plans to eventually use its supersonic aircraft for more than just sub-orbital flights, and instead carry passengers to far-flung destinations in record time. NASA’s aircraft is scheduled to take its first flight later this year, according to the government agency, with low-boom validation scheduled for 2023.
