Sports › Funny Picture Of Lance Armstrong Nose (Pinocchio style) by redcliff(op): 2:28pm On Jan 18, 2013

He who is without sin, cast the first stone — Jesus of Nazareth

Judge not… For the measure in which you judge, so also, shall you be judged — Jesus of Nazareth
What Lance Armstrong did was vile and dishonorable. Yes, it’s true. He bleeped up messed up royally. There is no doubt about that. He cheated to win, and then went ahead to lie about it for ten years. And then only when he was backed up against the wall, did he now, as a last resort own up to the cheating. This whole case, is just clear evidence, that lies no matter how perennial can never live as long as Diamonds.

However, what you will see below, is what I have a problem with:

I have no problems at all with how Piers Morgan is an asshole, and this and that. To each their own. I find his rugged insistence, on what ever cause he sinks his teeth into, amusing. It’s amusing in the way you’d find a chihuahua growling in the corner amusing. That said, call it his exaggerated sense of self importance. Call it self aggrandisement. Call it what you will, but this is just out of line.

The easiest thing to do, in all the world, is to cast aspersions on the man who got caught with his hands in the cookie jar. It’s even easier to get angry and indignant and condemn such wrongdoing. Yes, it’s true, these things should not be treated with a lax hand. Cheating should not be the way of the world. But then, my fellow human beings, what right have we, to persecute another man with impunity when we ourselves have miniatures of him within us?

What we should instead do is this: Lead him to the stake to be burnt (yes, he messed up. Action-reaction.) But as we make that procession to the execution grounds outside the city, we should do so with a heavy heart. He was in the position to mess up and he did. Would we have done any different? Don’t blurt out your answer so easy like a barbarian heathen. Think on it critically, would you have done any different? Please bear in mind that, if you have ever told a lie, no matter how small; if you have ever cheated on any test – giving and receiving answers/dubs, then you my friend are no better than Mr. Armstrong.

On a final note, my message to Piers Morgan and every one riding gallantly across the prairie on their white horses, with their white hats firmly placed on their heads, is this random tweet I stumbled on, this morning:

Literature › My One Shans Story by redcliff(op):
Some things happen that just make you think about your life. Like why? When? How did I get here? It’s not the small thinking oh, like maybe if you fail an exam or you lose hundred naira. No oh. I am talking deep thinking, such that if you move your head too much, you will rethink the existence of God. So here I am staring down this very large double mouthed peep-hole into the Kingdom of Heaven and it’s like I can see the angels.

Baba Tobore, how? How you for take reach for here?

I think my trouble must have started when I had missed the last BRT bus leaving Ajah. I hate it when I have to close from work late. And it’s not because I am lazy or that I hate to do my work. I just hate the hassle that comes with having to make my way home after such a long day. I don’t think it is the safest thing in the world to do, to head home towards Ketu from Ajah at 10.30pm. It is even worse because I hold in my pocket something important enough to look at every passerby twice. This is all Madam’s fault. Let’s not talk about how my official closing time is actually 5pm. We can also forget how, madam can really drive but because Oga is a bigshot, she feels her blood red nails will suddenly break if she lays her hands on the steering wheel of the Benz.

I leave work late o, but it’s worse on Thursdays. Like clockwork, I must go to Spar and pick up new bottles for the dispenser, bla bla, drop Madam off at the Spa and then pick up the dry cleaning at Garment Care. With that in the car, by this time it’s Noon I go and pick up Semilore from St. Savior’s and drop him with the Nanny at home. After that I pick Madam up from the Spa and drop her 1004. That’s where she is oh, till I have to go and pick Tomiwa at BIS and drop her at home as well. Then I’ll go back to 1004 and wait for madam.

Sometimes, she takes long than usual, other times, she’s waiting for me in the parking lot. But there is never a time she doesn’t look a little bit flustered. One would think that she comes here to pound yam. I can think of ten things that can cause that, but it’s not my business.

Anyway, through the traffic, and everything. I got madam home, of course without any thanks from her. Shebi, I am only just doing my job. Let me go, abi? No oh. Madam made sure I washed the car as usual. And she supervised it. She feels that by so doing, some minutes would be saved in the morning when we have to head out. Yes, I have to be back here by 6.30am. I want to quit but where do I get something better or that even measures up. Let me not even shout. Shebi Tamuno, where he works he be like all rounder. If he’s not changing the bulb, he’s washing the toilet or carrying bags of rice. Let’s just be thanking God.

That’s how I got to Ajah. No BRT again. Even the normal commercial bus, na two remain. Both of them weren’t going to Ketu straight. The first one was Yaba, and the second, Oshodi. I entered the Oshodi one in the hopes that I’d find another bus going to Ketu at end of the Third Mainland bridge. There were four of us in the bus when we set off – one old woman on the first row with the conductor, a young lady on the second row and then a young man; probably a driver like myself and then me on the last row.

It was unspoken but we were all glad that he didn’t wait to full his bus up. Maybe it was the breeze of a ride so free, or the exhaustion from driving all day, I slept off. It was a dreamless sleep until I was woken up by a nightmare. I was about to give a piece of my mind to whoever it was that was poking me with a hard stick when I opened my eyes.

The hard stick was the barrel of a shotgun. I looked beyond the barrel to the hand that held it. It was the conductor. The guy I thought was a driver, had a knife pointing at the back of the young lady on the middle row. The old woman just kept murmuring something in Yoruba I could not understand.

Surrender all you have, and we will not harm you, the conductor said to me. His eyes didn’t seem hard at all. He reminded me of Kamilu in our yard in Ketu. We could have had beer together. I looked out of the window, we were still far from the Airtel billboard. I didn’t stand a chance. He smiled at me, his face creasing like crumpled paper. I brought out my Nokia torchlight first, and then my wallet in my back pocket. I handed both to him.

He tilted his head to the side. I looked at the bulge in my pocket that was my salary. I stared down the barrel.

Baba Tobore, how? How you for take reach for here?

I sighed, fighting back the tears as I handed him the white envelope. Every nerve and cell in my body screamed. He took the bounty from me and returned my wallet, untouched. You will need it to go home, he said. The tears didn’t come till they dropped me off at the end of the bridge – Iyana-Oworo.

The bus I enter na one shans. This Lagos life just be like pot of burnt beans.

Poster, tell your friend to be careful or if its you, be careful, once a large part of your family is not in support of your relationship with an individual, desist from doing anything contrary because at the end (in most cases) they are always right and you might have to live with it for a pretty long time

Car Talk › Re: Have You Notice Yoruba Drivers Putting Alot Of Fancy On Their Cars by redcliff: 2:30pm On Jan 16, 2013
kels on point: Here in my area we have a lot of Yoruba folks driving cabs and they like putting a lot of fancies on their car and make use of the horn frequently in fact if their horn is faulty they consider it as a major fault. One interesting thing about them is that they choose a particular brand of car they use for transportation like when i was small i do see them with datsun, from that they shifted over to Mazda and now they are gradually migrating over to this Toyota privia. Why do dey act that way?
Bro, I totally agree with you on the Yoruba thing and Fanciful items on their cars. I thought i was the only one that noticed it and Ikenna, Its not a tribal issue, if i can notice and another can too, then he openly talks about it on here, i don't see anything wrong with it since there are no reprehensive remarks on anybody or any tribe. I just find it amusing because the way they do it, its so obvious, i am thinking maybe they are conspicuous or they see it as a fashion trend amongst themselves.
Travel › Re: Students In Switzerland/ Nigerians Living In Switzerland, your Experiences Here! by redcliff: 1:09pm On Jan 16, 2013
Ilaje44: Dutch and German are two different although related languages. Dutch is the language of the Netherlands, while German is the language of Germany. In the German language, Germany is called DEUTSCHLAND and the language DEUTSCH. The pronounciation does sound like DUTCH though.

Switzerland speaks four languages. They are German, French, Italian and Raeto-Roman. The last one is a mixture of old lombardian and German. I dont think is worth learning.

To the question being asked, I really can not say much about the educational system over there. However, the place you choose determines the tuition language. If your school is in western Switzerland, be prepared to be tutored in French. If you will be going to northern, central and eastern Switzerland, you will have to acquaint yourself with German. In the South, Italian will be the language. Swiss German dialects are very difficult even for Germans from the North to understand. Their German is really weird, but if they speak standard German, you will understand much easily.

Another thing to consider is the cost of living in Switzerland. It is very expensive to live in Switzerland. But they also got of the highest standard of living in the world partly thanks people who loot the treasury of ther country to keep in Swiss banks. So if you could work, you will able to earn enough too.

Switzerland is a very beautiful country. Nice clean cities, picturesque landscapes. You sure will like it. I only dont like the people so much. It is a personal thing though.
Hope I have been of help.
yea, u were thanks alot..

Car Talk › Re: German Used Cars For 1000 Euro: How Real? by redcliff: 5:01pm On Jan 15, 2013
crispgg: I came across the German automobile website www.mobile.de where I found some used cars going for as low as 1,000 Euro. Cars which if purchased in the US or Canada would cost much more.

I was really surprised and considered the fact that shipping from these European countries wouldn't be more than 700 Euro. Are these offers for real or there are some hidden costs to it. Cos when things seem to good too be true, they usually are.
Mobile.de is a good website. i actually wanted to buy a car off a dealer there one time but my contact in Germany screwed me pretty good. But one thing you have to consider is that, those cars could be pretty old and need repairs. And trust me their mileage is nothing below 200k and they are manual transmission vehicles. and yea, please be smart enough to kno if its a diesel engine cos those are the types you are likely to find within than range except you are buying a golf3 which is within the 1k price range..
Car Talk › Cool Or Not? These Cars Dont Run On Fuel And Dont Have Engines!!!! by redcliff(op):
GOODBYE TO DODGY MECHANICS! WELCOME TO THE FUTURE! || MAJOR COOL

In most of our imaginings of the future, the cars have left the ground, Gasoline Petrol is no longer the hype, cars drive themselves (References: Star Wars, Demolition man, Batman of the Future etc.). While that future may seem light-years away, be afraid, it’s closer than you think. Enter stage right: The Tesla Model S.
https://miabaga.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/31171-1024x682.jpeg

We could go on and on. But the car speaks for itself. 1. No Slow – The performance model can do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. and the top speed caps at 210km/h. With that level of acceleration and top speed, it puts the Porsche 911 in the trash can. For an electric car, that’s phenomenal; for any car that’s uber-phenomenal. Oh and guess what? It has… 2. No Engine – Picture this: It has no engine. Repeat, there is absolutely no engine. What does it need an engine for really? The car’s power is sourced from a battery panel that lines the bottom of the car.

https://miabaga.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Tesla-ModelS-frontcargo.jpg

And because of this, there’s no need for maintenance as such (GOODBYE DODGY MECHANICS). Goodbye to oil or transmission fluid to change, or any spark plugs, pistons, hoses, fan-belts or clutches to replace. And if things go bad with the car, a Tesla Ranger is sent to your home or office. 3. No cramping – There’s more to love, when there is more, to love. Of course with the loss of the engine means there’s more cabin space. The Model S can seat up to 7 passengers and has much more space than you can possibly need. What with it’s front and rear trunks. The front trunk exists because of the absence of an engine.

So, it seems that this "global recession" has not impacted negatively on everyone! Even your company won't buy this car, R700 000 per month for 70 months. One door of this car costs the price of Lamborghini owned by Mashobane.
Check this out!
It's a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi oil billionaire (naturally).
Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque, 0-100km/h in less than 2secs, 1/4 mile in 6.89secs running on biofuel.
