I am doing my fence now on an uncompleted building i just bought and the bricklayer is saying i need 34 bags of cement for 2430 blocks?

Is this too much?

also, is there a method of calculating pay for bricklayers? he is charging me 150k for the entire fence - 2430 blocks.

The number of cement he quoted is a bit fair, you can buy 20bags first and the rest later cos when they see the total cement they requested on ground, they will want to use it anyhow cos they feel money is surplus... Meanwhile, 150k for the entire fence is cheap oh... I paid 54k per day (6k for workman and 3k for service)....so basically 9k for a 100blocks

You'll actually need more than even 40 bags (budget for 60 bags if it's foundation is not done yet) .... The bricklayer underestimated and the 150k is cheap.. Very cheap.

40bags to lay 2430 blocks for a fence? I've placed 1200 blocks for my fence and I've used just 14 bags so far.. Will mold more blocks cos it's just 8coach and I want to complete it to 10coaches... So basically, 28 to 34 bags will be enough for him depending on how it's being used

I believe by permit he/she is referring to government tax/payment not omo oníle etc

None that I know of for fence.

I think there are permits everywhere cos I paid 50k and extra 3k on site cos the site supervisor forgot to carry the receipt along with him... Community boys came to seize tools so, he had to call their chairman or whatever he is... He spoke with the boys and they dropped the tools but razzled out 3k from us, then left...

If all walls are dry, check the WC. The water stop mechanism might be faulty. So water does not stop flowing into the tank after flushing.

The sad news is that u might hv to break the wall to find the leak unless u can get a tool called "moisture meter" which is very unlikely our Artisans in this part of the world have such a device. That's the down side of conduit piping.

Not using pressure pump.... Used the pipe they call 9ja pipe and why I feel there's a leakage is because the boys in the site pumped water on Tuesday and they called today to say there's no water again. Total of 5000L finished within 3 days.

Okay, now I understand the matter.
Solid block is mostly used over there, they don't seem to appreciate hollow block type.
I needed to convince a potential client before he could agree to use hollow block.
Conduit wiring and plumbing system is difficult with the hollow block thing.

Whatever one is building over here, it must be built with solid blocks...hollow block is a sin here ...

Hollow block is good for fencing, that's what we use majorly in this part of the country.
Some people take fencing construction so unserious and that's why some fences have cracks and the likes.
The footing of fences must be done accordingly,it's foundation too should be done solidly.
Buy or mould by oneself; just ensure it's of great or excellent quality.

Thank you so much Sir...someone I want to give as contract is insisting on solid blocks that hollow isn't used for fence but I've gone through Mr spyders's work and he uses mostly hollow blocks... Now, I want to buy materials down and just find someone to bring laborers and supervise the work..
