Nigeria is a country where free money is made and very easily too. Our government even creates easy platforms for govt officials/people to come in and make free money and even fraudulently too and then walk the streets free. Every foreigner/foreign company can come in and make free money.

Talking about PHCN and 500 naira fixed charge, it is just a fraud, I spend over 1,000 naira daily on fuel to power my generator just to make up for power outage because of PHCN's inefficiency.

I read through the explanations of those in support of this heinous practice by our govt and its agencies, it baffles me so much that people come out to this forum to make add voice to nonsense policies by our government. Let me ask, why is it that for our government to give us good service and leadership prices must always to up as high as over 400%. I agree ha fixed charge should be paid even though i is fraud, but must it be jerked up from 75 naira to 500 nairahuh?? yet people come out here to support this increase, tell me how it works with law of economics if this is not fraud in the highest order. That fixed charge is paid in other countries and therefore must be paid in Nigeria, we are very quick to copy what is practiced outside as regard increase in prices of services, can we please copy the salary regime of the America, German UK legislatures. Where people earn salaries that are in line with economic realities of that country. NO, big NO, rather they tell us fixed charge paid in Nigeria is the lowest, but no one will tell Nigerians that the salaries and allowances of our government officials are the highest in the world, what do we have on groundhuh Nothing, they say in other countries fixed and variable charge are paid, so what?? Billions of dollars have been spent in the power sector by our government, nothing came out of it,we all saw a show of shame including an expatriate CEO whose company was paid more than 65% upfront and he has never been to the project site for once, a probe was set up, we all know how it went, the fuel subsidy probe is also going he same way, it is very glaring in our eyes now, yet people can come to this forum to support this fraud. I wish the oil will dry up and lets see how things will turn out.

My brother, fraud, corruption has finished Nigeria and we are here talking supporting policies aimed at further impoverishing Nigerians. It is a pity that people can actually support this rubbish, please if you do not have any blood in your veins, go and buy from the blood bank, because I am sure you don't even know what Nigerians are going through. You need to desist from this and start thinking like a reasonable human being.

Nice weekend.

I am sure you are one of them, just listen to yourself. If it is designed to attract private sector investment, that means people might just come to Nigeria set up electricity generating infrastructure just to collect 500 naira monthly from consumers whether they generate and sell electricity or not.

My friend, please lets be factual, like the saying, "when you work you eat, if you don't work you don't eat" in this case what PHCN is trying to achieve is "eat without work" because whether they sell electricity or not they are very sure of 500 naira monthly, and when you have 1 million consumers on the PHCN grid, they are sure of 500 million monthly without selling any electricity. Mind you, the tariff has equally gone up by almost 80% from 7:30 to 12:45 Naira.

It happened in fuel subsidy, and some people came here to justify why the price of petrol must go up, now what do we have, we have a nation in the abyss of corruption which I doubt if we can come out of if we continue to allow this extortion system if doing business in Nigeria by both the private and government agencies on a product that affects the entire population.

I am sure after this, GSM operators will come with their own fixed cost (FC) and variable cost (VC) too, and ask us to pay money whether we use our phones or not.

This is ridiculous, and must be addressed, NLder's if we have attorneys in the house, please we need to institute a legal action against PHCN and NERC, this extortion must be stopped. If PHCN or whoever is involved in the business of generating and sell power cannot do so, then that agency has no business doing business in Nigeria.

Nigerians cannot be paying for inefficiency in government managed agencies and businesses.

lekzwyc: Hi nairalander, †ђξ first time I paid for my PHCN bill I was given over 250 energy units for 2000naira but recently I discovered that for 2000naira I was given 67.58 energy units. Is this happening to you as well? or what? I need some answers please.
I used to think that i am the only one in this absurdity, it happened to me and I tweeted about it and was given the same explanation. I think we need to raise a forum here on NL to have the signature of all everyone interested, to call on CLO and Labour to intervene in this issue or we get a good attorney to sue PHCN and NERC to court. We need to do this and get a court injunction stopping PHCN from exploiting Nigerians. Increasing fixed charge from 75 naira to 500 naira is far too much, it is more than 400% increase in cost which is not obtainable anywhere in this world.

I am in if you all are ready to fight this matter, this exploitation must stop now.

oiseworld: impostor !!
I wouldn't have responded to your post. But some times we are told to speak to the fool soo he doesn't think he's wise in his own eyes.

The quicker the SSS arrest him the less evidence they would have, the longer, the more evidence. Abi, are you seeing this whole thing from the reverse side. If the whole thing had been the other way round, i would still say it as it were.

Farook collected the moneywith no intention of reporting it. HE COLLECTED BRIBE.
If sss actually had a video of him the first time he collected the bribe money, that is enough evidence to take him in. Now where is the bribe moneyhuh?
PoliticsRe: Farouk V Otedola - By Festus Keyamo by Redstone(m): 10:55am On Jul 05, 2012
Well, Keyamo said it all.

One thing we must understand here is that our attentions have been shifted from the outcome of the fuel subsidy probe and its implementation to mere reading of opinions and listening to recorded tapes on the net and TV between Farcrook and Oted$$ola.

One fact we must understand is that Otedollar only played smart in this game, he was the smart one, but he should not forget that Nigerians are not fools.

I see a man who played smart in order or in an attempt to clear himself of the guilt. It is obvious that Farcrook took bribe, but it is very important to clear something here. Otedolla claims he was pressured to give bribe, Farcrook claims Otedollars offered bribe so that his company name could be removed from the list of indicted companies.

Now who do we believehuh BIG Question for all of us.

Logically, the idea behind bribe scandals is always that the offender offers bribe in order to get cleared of a crime, If this is correct, between Farcrook and Otedollar, whose company is being investigated in the fuel subsidy sagahuh

The one who is being investigated obviously will be the one to initiate bribe offering. Farcrook is weak minded and gullible to have fallen for this trap.

Now, Otedolla is telling Nigerians that he was pressured offer the bribe. He now wants to play the injured party.

this is jus a diversionary game, Nigerians, shine your eyes oooooooo.

Both Farcrook and Zenon boss have lots of question to answer.

The money has to be retrieved, let's all see how this unfolds.

I don't believe that stuff, NEVER, they are both crooks, but ha doesn't excuse Otedo$$lla from the massive fuel subsidy saga. Look, they should stop acting his movie, some people should be cooling their heels in Kirikiri now and we are here listening to some software voices.

There are lots of phones and audio instruments that can copy voice verbatim and you hardly ill kno he difference.

This is why banks fail eventually. If you have 10 of these set of people in a bank stealing shareholders money left and right, how will the bank be able to pay salaries, make profit or even sustain operation, It is pathetic. The names of the others involved should be mentioned and published, they should be tried and if found guilty, punished for the crime.
FamilyRe: Husband- Gold Digger, Would You Forgive Him? by Redstone(m): 9:52pm On Jun 07, 2012
micklplus: Hmmmm, I saw this somewhere and I decided to share it here. What would you do if you were in the womans' shoe?

My hubby came home one night calmed and happy, I was surprised but happy. He's been out of control for sometime now, actually since I lost my dad two years ago. He became the CEO since my dad died, it was on the will for my husband to become the CEO and my baby brother the Managing director.
I've done everything in my power to make things right but whatever I do is not good enough. This wasn't the same Tayo that I married. My parents were rich but their two children were trained well. I was working in my dad's company until I had my second child. My dad told me to stay at home and take care of the kids because I refused to get a maid and my grandma that was helping passed away at the time.(I lost my mom five years ago too) I enjoyed every minute of being a wife and a mom until I lost my dad.
My husband came in that fateful day about three months ago, looked at me and said "I don't love you Kemi, I never did. I appreciate everything you have done but it is time I move on with my life. You can stay in this house, keep the cars and I'll arrange for monthly allowance for you and the kids. If your brother agrees with my lawyer's terms, I'll pay him generously for his share in the company. Thanks to your father, I owe the 70% of the company. Don't try to fight this, it is clearly written in your father's will."
I woke up the following day at the hospital and by my side was dad's lawyer, she looked at me and smiled! Two weeks later, the lawyer came to see me at home and to my surprise, she brought with her a letter handwritten by my dad. I wish I could hug dad at that very minute.
There was a clause in the will, if Tayo leaves me without any fault of mine or if he dies before me, I have to take over the company. Dad knew I could handle it, I've been working in the company since my first year in the university! Tayo came to the house two days after I saw dad's letter, begging me to forgive him. Should she forgive?
Is this home video, nollystick or hollystick/wood. This story is not true, how can a father will 70% of his company to a total stranger, just because he married his daughter? I don't believe this story. abeg... it is not realistic, in Nigeria, when the man has children that are well read? who are supposed to carry on the name and legacy of the family? next story please.

greatikena: THANK YOU KELLY
BUT JUST AS MY BROTHER WHERE CAN SOMEBOY GET A GOOD MECHANIC OR SHOULD WE JUST AVOID MAZDA CARS MODEL 1999 T0 2002 AUTOMATIC
smiley smiley grin
Solution: Get a good knowledge of the car you are using. It may take you about 1 year to get to know the car well, how do you know it, treat it like you baby, pay attention to faults and keep a record of faults and how they are rectified. Then you can better monitor your mechanic and even be able to buy your car parts yourself. get a reliable part dealers, your car will last and you will also enjoy it.

I Used a BMW 3 series, 99 model for 4 years. I got to know the car to the extent that when the car makes any funny sound or movement, I know what the fault is, and I get my mechanic to bring the faulty part out and then i call my part dealer to bring the part to my mechanic to fix it while I'm there. Of course, it all depends if you have the time. I am a businessman, so I have my time to manage.
