Traditional religion is not static. It updates with the times if you OFFICIALLY recognise it, and treat its underlying philosophies with respect.

The Japanese for instance ended blood sacrifice many years ago and replaced it with flowers, food, candles, etc etc.

If Shintoism had been shunned and confined to the underground, and the bush, THAT would not have happened.

It is because you have NEGLECTED the traditional religion for over a CENTURY that it has not been subjected to any debates, evolution or modifications which normally characterised it in the past.

Do you know that JAPAN practices a religion that is virtually identical to Edo religion? (There is actually evidence of ancient Edo settlement there, but that's another story).

It's called Shintoism.

There are over 100,000 Shinto shrines in Japan today.

Many are directly funded and maintained by the government.

It is an absolute disgrace that a country that is regarded as the Giant of Africa, has built in its capital Abuja a National Mosque (for Arab religion), a National Cathedral (for European religion), and a big fat NOTHING for African Tradional Religion (ATR).

Until we rectify this issue, and acknowledge the glorious religion and civilisation of the ancestors of THIS LAND WE OCCUPY, we will continue to have BIG PROBLEMS, because we do not have their blessings.

And if invading foreigners' religions have twisted your heads to the point where you no longer believe your ancestors are alive in the spiritual realms, and perfectly capable of influencing your fortunes, you better extricate yourself from that foreign madness, and understand the reality known to your ancestors for 100s of thousands of years before whites and Arabs existed on this Earth (which is a mere 5,000 years ago, compared to over 200,000 years of African existence. The Cradle of Civilisation).

AFRICANS knew and worshiped the Creator, for hundreds of thousands of years before any other races of mankind existed.

So clearly there was a very special relationship between Africans and Divinity.

Instead of updating and funding our religion like the people of India, China, and Japan have done, we SHUN our religious heritage.

Our 'saviours' are now Swedish looking and Arab gods.

Until an African country publicly acknowledges, honours and prays to an African God, we Africans will continue to be viewed as pathetic imitators of others, never having believed in ourselves.
