Insecurity - Wealthy Igbos Moving to Lagos and the North To Escape UGM

Many middle and upper class Igbos are now FLEEING the south east and relocating to Lagos, Benin, Jos, Abuja, Kano etc IN DROVES, to escape the deteriorating security situation in the south-east, a region now seemingly at the mercy of heavily armed IPOB thugs, also known as 'unknown gunmen'.

It is feared that this EXODUS of the monied Igbo classes will further worsen the already dire economic situation in the south east.

It is indeed a stunning irony that Igbos are fleeing violence in the South East for safety in the lands of their historic northern Hausa/Fulani adversaries. Such is the sorry state of the south east.

Lolz. Does a malfunction door stop the engine from working?
In some modern, computerised trains, yes, unless the driver then goes into emergency mode, and forces acceleration, say he's inside a tunnel for instance, and needs to move out for safety reasons etc.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Railway Revolution (Pictures) by Reflect7(op): 9:17pm On Sep 29, 2021
mybiz234:
So, bad door handle on a coach is similar to a total breakdown while in transit?
Insofar as it stops the train moving, either through the direct action of the driver (as instructed), or through automatic design, a malfunctioning door can constitute a breakdown.

You seem to have it in your head that 'breakdown' means engine failure of some sort. Like how a car breaks down. That's not how it is with trains Mr.

In trains a driver can even stop because he saw some flashing lights come up in his dashboard indicating there is some mechanical issue, and he would stop, even though the train can run perfectly well! That stop constitutes a breakdown! Until the source of the fault is discoverd by an engineer.

Nigeria does not have any operational high speed train. Perid.
Do you know what 'operational' means?

It means: ''in or ready for use, eg "the new laboratory is fully operational"''

Yes they are.

Keep on shooting yourself in the leg.

Minor breakdown differs from major breakdown. Despite your so-called breakdown, the trains work efficiently day by day.
Stop shifting the goalpost. A breakdown is a breakdown. There is no distinction in the railway industry between a 'major' and 'minor' breakdown. That's a matter of personal opinion, and perhaps the degree to which you were affected by it..

It's no comfort that it's only a 'minor' breakdown if you're stranded in an underground tunnel, sometimes for hours, as happens quite regularly in the UK.

Cognitivereason:
First of all let me remind you that the standard gauge built in Nigeria has a maximum capacity of 150km/hr.
This alone indicates you don't know what you're talking about.

Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway

Technical
Track gauge 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in) standard gauge
Operating speed 150–250 km/h (93–155 mph)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagos%E2%80%93Kano_Standard_Gauge_Railway

And that a fact proven with a quick search on google.. Secondly the operating speed is going to be around 120km..cuz realistically speaking no one runs a product at maximum capacity except you want to shorten it lifespan...
Lastly.. Looking at this era of railway and train development where we now have trains exhiding 400km/hr and still regarded as high speed train... I don't think it makes sense to refer to a 120km train as high speed..
Besides according to railway technology....
There is a separate track made and modified for high speed train...the SDG are not one of them..therefore what we have in Nigeria isn't high speed train...another fact is dat no country builds high-speed tracks for cargo and containers movement ..or have to seen a train carrying containers moving above 120km/hr even in movies.... The tracks in Nigeria are for both passenger and cargo so they could never support Highspeed /bullet trains

Am not trying to be cynical like the average Nigerian is especially to anything relating to bujari but the truth should be spoken..
Dude, I posted evidence of everything i claimed. Don't fail to read the posts and then interject with stuff that makes it clear you've not read the evidence as posted.

So...you, presumably a black person, is calling another black person ''black monkey''?

You claim to be in the UK. I dare you to go out on the street and calling any black person that racist slur, and see how quickly you hit your grave.

Pathetic, ignorant, colonised, mentally enslaved, self-hating, brainwashed coon from goodness-knows-what-hole-in the ground.

Here's a lesson for your colonised head.

'Black' skin is caused by the chemical Melanin, which is a BLESSING from the Creator, to protect his children from the sun rays of the world's hottest continent.

Caucasians develop multiple skin and bodily diseases by long exposure to the sun.

Black Africans don't.

Without MELANIN that causes them to be brown/black, the African people would have been extinct many thousands of years ago.

You are literally alive today BECAUSE you are black.

Courtesy of your Creator.

Chew on that next time you consider yourself a 'black monkey'.

You cannot talk about Nigerians most of them are illiterate they do not even know what happens in their own country. I am telling you I am working on the project and the trains are only meant to carry passengers not luggage or goods. Look at Kenya railway network is carrying top 40 ft containers one on top of the order. Lagos-ibadan railway cannot even carry one fully loaded 40 ft container. If you are not working on the project it is better you just keep quiet
If the standard gauge rail line cannot carry cargo, pray, WHAT type of rail are you talking about, dude?

You're full of bullcrap.

The Warri-Ajaokuta-Itakpe line carries massive steel pipes, and you're saying the lines cannot carry containers?

Lagos Ibadan railway was on the drawing board under OBJ, in fact, he awarded and re-awarded contracts to build it, but as usual in the PDP abandon fashion, he left it dead and it remained dead for 12 years, but PMB started and finished the project in less than 3 years.

Useless GEJ did even bother to touch it with his 6 years in office..
Honestly, I'm still wondering what the Jonathan administration did with all that money they made during that time, with high oil prices for several years. Kai.

Did you just say trains break down every day in London and New York? Oh God!
How do you manage not to feel ashamed of yourself?!
A minimum of 5 trains break down everyday in London. They are usually referred to as 'signal failures', to deflect criticism for what are really train breakdowns.

One more thing. You need to understand what a 'train breakdown' means.

It could be virtually any fault with the train's mechanical and structural functioning. A carriage door that refuses to shut properly in one of the coaches will immobilise a modern train. The train will not move until an engineer is brought in to fix the door.

Even a problem track can halt a train, till the issue is fixed. THAT is a train breakdown too even though the train itself is fine! Passengers are still delayed for hrs as a result.

Other times it could be some engine problem. The UK and US rail networks are actually quite antiquated in many places, even though modernisation projects are occurring there. But you do find a lot of old infrastructure, including train stations that haven't been revamped in many decades.

I like what I see. Kudos to the government for this varying railway projects. When are we going to also have railways from SS and SE going to various parts of the country please?
Two contracts totalling nearly 6 billion dollars have been awarded for two major lines - the East-West coastal line connecting Lagos with cities all the way to Calabar, PH, Enugu, Aba etc, and a second line, the East-North line that will connect Onitsha all the way to Abuja, Kano, and Maiduguri.

The same company that built what we are seeing here was contracted to build these new networks. Money has changed hands. It is simply a matter of time before we will be posting new pictures of these new rail investments that will open up the East to major high speed rail traffic.
